Garve looked at Taza in the eyes with a serious expression. After a while of not saying anything, he took the small box and placed it with care in between Taza and him, pulling the cover along when he calmly lifted his hand and revealing the contents once and for all. What was inside the box was a curved bone, a clean white bone with an odd thin shape that ended in a fang in 90 degrees in comparison to the thin structure. The bone was probably the size of an index finger excluding the fang, and it was placed with care so that it faced upwards. It was obvious to anyone of that race that the object was the mask fragment of an Arrancar.
gIf you really remember when I left Hueco Mundo, then you probably also remember this other thingh Garve explained to Taza as he began eating, his eyes no longer set on the mask fragment. gA few years prior to my betrayal and escape from Hueco Mundo, the one who was Segunda before me attempted to do the same thing, the difference was that she did not succeed; a former Primera and me are responsible for that, and now this is all that remains of her.h A flashing image of his previous mentor and friend appeared on his mind as he continued his story, and he felt a bit nostalgic for a moment. gBut of course, the world kept turning and I wouldnft have it any other way. I guess you could say she had an impact on me. I became an Arrancar and survived all those years thanks to her; in fcat, I don't think I would be talking to you right now with you if it wasn't for her. And I wasn't the only one she helped.h
To most people it would sound weird why Garve talked so fondly of someone he claimed to have killed, but since Taza was probably familiar with the event or the fact that his past self could only be described as a cold-blooded killer and an ignorant, he had preferred to avoid details and leave Taza to make his own conclusions.
gIfm probably getting off the subject,h Garve said, realizing he was indeed making the whole explanation a bit leadless. gImagine this, a revolutionary woman who saved many lives and tried to change the world of the Arrancar with her own odd ideology. Whether you look at it as something positive or negative is irrelevant, interpret it the way you want, but with the passing of years Ifve grown to believe that such actions are meant to be remembered by people. However, in Hueco Mundo memory is something constantly fading.h Garve, who had nearly finished his own ration of sushi while talking, lifted the mask fragment as if it was a relic wind itself could break. gThis and my own memories are all thatfs left of her. She used to talk about how important bonding with others was and lived following that philosophy, but in the end no one mourned her death and as I just said, only I remember her. At first I thought that was enough, but with time I realized that with her passing, the same fate was awaiting me; I would eventually die and my name would be lost in the silence of Hueco Mundofs history. I didnft care, but when I thought that if she was alive she would probably mourn my death, I have to admit I felt disheartened even though I didnft even know why. When I realized what I felt, I decided to look for a solution and I came to the conclusion that in Hueco Mundo, I wouldnft find another one like her.h
He really felt like Hueco Mundo was a lost cause. As true as it was that he did encounter a woman who would cry for his absence, there was no one like that now in Hueco Mundo, and he wasnft willing to wait for one to show up in the next thousands of years, he would die one way or another before that time passed. That dessert was completely dead to him, and if he had given up all hope on it, then there was absolutely no reason for him to risk his life to save it from the Horror Vacui (if that could be called saving). And most importantly, that didnft solve anything at all; what made Hollow and Arrancar the way they were was not the leaders they had, but the years of forced killing and danger they had to go through. The moment the Horror Vacui disappeared, he would be able to go back to the Human World again, but if he waited for the conflict to end, the result was the same and he didnft have to risk his life to the same lost cause. That was basis of the message he was trying to convey to Taza, although the way he interpreted it was up to his own understanding.
gI respect your cause, Tazah Garve said, saving the mask fragment in the small rectangular box and placing it in his pocket. gBut I am not willing to die yet.h
