Kiira was yet again lost in her thoughts. It was as if her awareness was being suppressed by the thoughts that floated in her mind. The trees around her appeared only as flashes of dark as she passed them. She heard nothing but her own breathing and heartbeats. However, to anyone who looked at her she appeared to be fully aware, running through the rough of the forest with ease, dodging trees and bushes as she made her way forward.
Even if her mind felt as if it was at another place, Kiira seemed to heed Teena's order of suppressing fire. While running she managed to reload the weapon and then Kiira's pace rose, as if she had the wind at her back, and that brought her a few steps ahead of her comrades. She turned instantly, and nimbly, loosing all and any momentum at once, but remained in perfect control of her body. Through the scope of her crossbow she waited for one of the scouts to appear among the trees. It would seem they were still not too close as she even had the chance to gasp for air before she spotted one of them. She stood leaned back to even out the weight of her crossbow and with her feet wide apart to ensure good footing when the recoil from the mechanically enhanced, giant crossbow fired a bolt towards one of the enemies, piercing his chest and killing him instantly.
The short time it at taken Kiira to line up her aim and shoot was more than enough for both Teena and Chrono to pass her. As they passed her Chrono simply had said “Don't look up”. And before she knew it, a humming sound emitted from a sphere of ice that had been thrown up into the air by Chrono. And as Kiira restarted the process of reloading her crossbow while running, she could hear the sound from the scouts bumping into each other as they were blinded by the sharp sun rays directed towards their eyes by Chrono's sphere of Ice. This would later be followed by a sound, reminding of breaking glass, which was in turn followed by the sound of a few scouts squirming in pain by the icy needles' that'd pierced their bodies and rendered them motionless on the ground.
As she heard this, Kiira "woke up" and really became aware of the situation. She had been aware, just that her mind had been at two places at once. But finally it settled for once place, which was, there and then. Quickly, Kiira looked behind her back, only to see nothing but bushes and trees. The area where Chrono's sphere had exploded into needles was already far enough behind to be devoured and hidden by the trees. Kiira ran ahead again, jumped up on one of the mossy rocks by the hill. She carefully placed herself in the same manner as last time, and waited for the first scout to appear within her sight. The pursuing scouts were quite far away by now, but that didn't hinder Kiira from spotting one of them. To spot them from this distance in this terrain would seem impossible, and even a hawk would have to admit that what Kiira did was something extraordinary. Perhaps she had sight that was unlike any other, or perhaps she just got extremely lucky. But the bolt she fired went right into what appeared to be thick forest and still hit the left eye of one of the scouts.
This impossible shot led the scouts to think that the three were much closer to them than they really were. And as such, they started looking around, searching the forest more closely as they expected the Magi to be hidden in the bushes. This was something that of course affected the pace they kept forward. All this had let Teena, Chrono and Kiira to reach the place which Teena had in mind, and in the process they had gained a great deal of distance from their pursuers. Perhaps it meant they enough time to set up an ambush? And with a stroke of luck, Nyle had seen Chrono's signal and been able to pinpoint their location. As Kiira yet again reloaded her crossbow, she realised that all hope was far from lost.

OOC: Apologies for taking so long to post, will try to do better next time.
When Teena had asked Kiira to lay down suppressing fire she hadn't thought the girl would actually take some of them down while doing so, but the girls agility and precision was nothing short of astonishing as she outran both Teena and Chrono far enough to get time to make a clear shot just as they passed her. Teena wondered if this was the effects of the girls magic, mysteriously capable of working on such a passive yet capable level... Teena's magic had worked before she truly understood it or knew how to control it, but it was spontaneous and uncontrollable and she was more of a risk to both herself and others before she was taught the basics of magic. Teena mused that learning to actually control her power would be more of a detriment to Kiira's natural abilities, rather than helping her improve them, for as far as she could tell it would take a master to combine archery with wind magic to the degree Kiira had.
Continuing to run through the underbrush Teena looked back at the scouts one last time before Chrono told them not to look up, after Kiira's bolt they had split up more, seemingly running in groups of two though it was hard to tell beyond the first few scouts, or how many there were overall. She wouldn't be surprised if a few of them had split off to try and cut them off further down the 'path'. Teena took a quick glance at Chrono, noting the orb in his hand as he tossed it up in the air, she decided to follow his advice and kept her eyes focused on their target just a dozen meters ahead of them now, a smirk appearing on her lips as she saw flashes of light reflected on the trees around them, followed by a sound reminiscent of breaking glass could be heard behind them and the yells of pain from the scouts who had not managed to avoid the icy needles.
Behind them the majority of scouts had managed to take cover from the orb before it had unloaded it's icy death upon them, however the group closest to the trio had been completely blinded by it and stumbled over each others, only to get needled in the face as the orb dropped a few meters in front of them. The first one died instantly while the second one laid on the ground groaning in pain, likely to bleed out as the needles melted away unless given first aid soon. The rest of the scouts soon moved again though the last group, far out of sight for the trio dragged the wounded man further down before they did what they could to help him on short notice, though by then Kiira had shot a second member of the group and they all took cover once more, carefully scanning their surroundings and moving slowly but ever so carefully forward.
Meanwhile Teena had continued past Kiira a short bit until she got to a rocky bit of the hillside that was now on their left (After turning to face the scouts). She had intended that they should continue a short bit further, but Kiira seemed to have things under control on her end and Chrono could no doubt back her up. So instead Teena decided to peek up the hill behind cover from the rocks to make sure they weren't themselves ambushed. After having crawled up the mossy rocks she scanned the relatively flat forested area laid out before her, trying to catch any signs of either Nyle or more enemies. After having scanned the area for a short while she turned and looked back down at the other end of the clearing, scanning the edges of it to make sure they weren't being flanked. She was about to turn to look up the hillside once again when a flash caught her attention, not stopping to think Teena immediately rolled to the side as an arrow bounced off the rocky hill in the general vicinity of where she had been just moments prior. "Enemies on the right!" Teena yelled as she managed to spin around on the spot and more or less roll down the hill into a bunch of bushes below, sadly the act ruined her clothes quite a lot.
In the confusion and general chaos caused by the orb one of the groups had split off and with no one to really slow them down they had managed to get on the side opposite the hills and one of them armed with a bow had nearly hit Teena as a result, however they were smart enough not to rush straight at them as they were unaware of where either Kiira or Chrono were. However the sounds coming from their direction did give the larger group the courage to move forward at a faster rate. Teena threw her blades out once again at the two scouts who had flanked them but given she was lying down in a bunch of bushes it wasn't the most accurate of throws and they were ready to avoid them, so even though she tried to adjust their trajectory it didn't help much. But at least it gave her time to get up and jump behind some better cover, just as the blades came flying back and beginning to circle around her with the exception of one blade which she sent into the air, leaving it to spin slowly about fifteen meters into the air, hopefully reflecting enough sunlight to be noticeable to Nyle and the others. It was perhaps not necessary given Chrono's signal, but right now she was feeling pressured, because if the scouts pressed their advantage now without help showing up they were done for...

Unhindered by pursuers as the trio was, Nyle and his team were able to make good time, seeing as they’d dropped all pretense of being silent and were rushing forward with all haste. This didn’t mean he wasn’t paying attention, as he was still deathly aware of sounds and movement ahead of him, but he also knew they needed to hurry. The signs he’d seen along the way suggested there were far too many scouts in the forest for the three Magi to eliminate alone, this was both a curse and a blessing. On one hand it meant the three were in immediate danger, on the opposite it meant their enemies would be confident in their ingress into the forest and would not be expecting a flank as they were far enough into the forest not to know about the collapsed valley.
Once they had reached the tree where several soldiers had fallen Nyle did not stop, instead heading down a very clear path. Until then all parties had been relatively stealthy, not leaving observable signs, at least not any that could be seen in an instant. However, once the fighting had started it was clear that the trio and their hunters had broken into running at which point their trail became evident amidst the fallen leaves, and parted shrubbery.
Nyle was quite capable of moving faster than he was, but had to maintain a reasonable rate as to stay with the group. Conflict was the only way this was going to end, and not knowing the exact number of enemies they found themselves against charging off would be foolhardy. It was not long into this string of thought that they heard glass shattering along with several brilliant streaks of light flashing through the treeline. Nyle slowed down slightly as while it meant they were getting closer, it also meant there was a greater chance they could stumble straight into their enemies’ formation if going full-speed.
At this point Nyle could hear the following soldiers occasionally calling out, as to give their position to their fellows, though some had surely not given themselves away yet. Nyle spotted the discolored trees shortly ahead of him, covered in frost from the trap that had been set there and saw the bodies of at least two soldiers. He was not foolish enough to walk into that area, lest it still be active in some way and instead made a quick circular pattern around the clearing it had made.
However, for such a trap to be set meant that Chrono was still alive. And moments later he heard Teena yell out about their enemies’ location on the right, being well within ear-shot especially for Nyle. Knowing that those two were alive spurred Nyle on and he picked up the pace once more as if they were already this close, it meant that they could meet them in mere moments, but it also meant the same for their foes.
In the forest surrounding the trio the soldiers had grown emboldened by the groups halt in progress. Though the three were hidden amidst the foliage their rough location was still known, and they had been forced to stop. As they could not possibly move from that location without it being seen the scouts had begun pressuring the situation, fanning out and starting to create a semi-circle to catch them in a “net”, the ones on the right cliff were just the start.
By this point what must have been the leader, or the closest to him, was shouting orders to the previously fragmented groups. Though Chronos trap had left them splintered for a few minutes they were rapidly regaining a semblance of military structure, and once they’d begun their assault it would be over for the three less unified Magi. Unfortunately just as the brush clouded the Magi’s exact location, it was difficult to tell from the trios distance away who, and where exactly the one yelling the orders was coming from. Unfortunately for the scouts, their dedication to tracking down the threat in front of them had made them blind to alternate aggressors.
The man shouting out to the various groups was leaning forward against a tree, peering around it toward Teenas location. There was a second man lying on his stomach at the base of the tree, a crystalline spyglass to his eye as he attempted to ascertain their exact situation. Both were focused, and the leader was making enough noise both to the groups around, and to the soldier at his feet that they weren’t even aware of the threat coming up behind them.
Nyle stepped forward from behind the nearest tree, and at the same time Leith had quickly appeared from next to him. Leith had jumped atop the prone man and with a virtually silent “whump” applied enough concussive force to instantly slam his head into the ground, snapping his neck and killing him silently and quickly. At that exact instance Nyle had rushed forward, put his hand over the standing man’s mouth, and brought his blade to his throat. Moments after he fell to the ground next to his subordinate as his lifesblood left him.
Without missing a beat Nyle reached down and retrieved the spyglass the other man had been using, bringing it up and peering in the direction he had been looking. It was not difficult to find the trio, they were behind the brush certainly enough, but their movements were giving tell-tale signs of their presence. Nyle tried to observe the other scouts locations but was only successful in pinpointing the exact location of those at the bottom of the hill firing on the trio, he knew he didn’t have the time to look for others as they would soon begin to question why the one calling orders had gone silent.
Turning to his following group Nyle split his hands down the middle, “Four to the left, and four to the right. Stay in a group and overwhelm each group with numbers if that’s what it takes. I’m moving for those on the hill, we may not have anyone to save if they keep shooting.”
As soon as he was sure they understood Nyle had broken off to his left, or rather the trio’s right. Making his way past the “interior” of the circle as not to run into any extra soldiers and instead taking a slightly roundabout way to opening the two soldiers he’d spotted had taken up roost. As he moved around to the forest at the base of the hill the first of the battle sounds echoed out. It seemed the group to the left had been spotted, or otherwise engaged in open conflict, which wasn’t surprising as most weren’t trained in the art of remaining unseen like Nyle. He just hoped that whatever they’d run into was something they were capable of handling in an outright fight.
Nyle however knew that he couldn’t always be there to help, and saving the trio depended largely on removing the soldiers firing upon them. Making his way around he crept along the forest edge as far as the trees would take him, in the meantime more fighting sounds had broken out, and the shouts of the scout patrols ensured their surprise element had now expired. Hopefully they had removed enough of them before the engagement began to ensure it was too late for that to make a difference.
As he neared the base of the hill he peered around one of the last trees before the short opening the scouts had taken up point. He observed as they readied their bows for another volley toward the trio, meanwhile one was questioning whether they should return to help the others. Looking out across the forest from this opened point Nyle could make out the movement of the battles taking place; in particular their Destruction Magi were impossible to miss, as their battle style was the distinctly opposite end of subtle.
Turning his attention back to his target Nyle unsheathed his blade to his side, watching the closest man’s movements. As soon as he nocked his arrow and turned slightly to aim up in the trios direction Nyle spun around the tree and ran forward. He brought both hands to grasp his blade firmly to ensure the upmost power was in his swing and proceeded to slash upward diagonally. The man further away had seen Nyle, but by the time he had conveyed this, the front man only had time to look his way in surprise.
Such a full-forced frontal blow easily cleaved through the basic armor, sheering a wide cut into the mans front. It did not instantly kill him as he crumpled to the ground screaming in pain as mass quantities of blood spilled from the gaping wound, but it was doubtful he would live more than a few minutes, much less be able to aid his friend any further.
Having tossed his bow down in the meantime the other man had drawn his own sword and came charging at Nyle in a rage while screaming aloud, “DAMN YOU!”
Their blades clashed several times before they both fell back into more defensive battle-stances, each looking for an opening in their foes posture. Though without thinking the man had now exposed his side to the trio.

With Kiira’s incredible sniping skills at work, their pursuers seemed to have gotten paranoid enough to go over everything with a fine toothed comb, slowing them down quite a bit. Either that or they were scheming something again, but Chrono was trying to maintain some level of positivity. He could count on Kiira to hold her own for now and with Teena coming to a stop, he chose this moment to slip away on his own path in the thick shrubbery.
The scouts and soldiers would catch up sooner or later, but between his orb and Kiira’s shots combined with their knowledge of what they were dealing with, he found it unlikely that they would stick to a large group and make it more difficult to evade attacks. Not that he would mind too much if they wanted to march out in the open clumped together compared to the more worrying prospect of them flanking and surrounding them with an entire hill to surround.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst though; he was capable enough at sneaking around and if anyone was wandering about in small groups, he was going to do his best to make sure they got no further before they gathered more soldiers. He kept low, heading around as Teena scouted above, only to see her rolling down the opposite side, shouting about soldiers to the right. Some had at some point broken off and came around, joy.
He was able to get close to the right with the brush to help make him not an easy target, but soon enough he had a problem; to engage the two of those scouts quickly would by necessity give away his position and all he needed was another archer lying in wait to shoot any attackers – he could hear someone shouting out orders as it was and who knew where that one was. Said leader’s sudden silence didn’t go unnoticed though, neither did the telltale sound of battle drifting by – quite destructive fighting at that if he could hear it so clearly from here. Clearly they had received some reinforcements, a thought confirmed by Nyle dashing out and cutting down one of the archers.
At this point the lack of anymore archers was a good enough sign that this group was on their own, which was all Chrono needed to take aim at the remaining soldier, now engaged in battle with Nyle. They eventually broke off, the soldier focusing entirely on Nyle which was how he found himself a sitting duck for the shot of pure cold that Chrono shot into his open side.
Whatever the man wanted to yell was of little concern to Chrono at this point as the icy chill quickly spread across his entire torso up to his neck, reducing him to gasps for air as his body simply shut down from the cold.
Now all he had to do was hope that Nyle wouldn’t be too ticked off.
