Shinigami
Name:Kurushimi Saru
Gender:Male
Age:372 (looks 23)
Division:Eleven
Rank:Captain
Physical Description: Saru stands at a nice height of 6'4", with scars all along his chest and back.
Personality: Saru is not like the stereotypical division eleven member. While he appreciates a good fight with a strong opponent, he doesn't live from battle to battle. When it comes down to battle though, Saru is literally torn in two. He has a more aggressive, almost berserker-like hidden second personality. He often refers to his second personality as the "Fighting" Saru.
Normal Saru:This is how Saru acts on a normal, day-to-day, not deeply angered bases. he acts a lot like he did when he was working on a vice case. He changes his personality to fit the people he is around. Saru usually interacts with others just fine, but he has a bit of an issue completely relating to a lot of people. When Saru is actually being his regular self, he is an excellent strategist, thanks in part to his time as a police officer and as a teacher in his sensei's dojo.
Fighter Saru:During moments when Saru has been pissed off and angered beyond what his bojutsu training has helped him to contain, Saru's temper explodes out, and his suppressed second personality emerges. When Saru is in this berserker-like state of mind, the only thing on his mind is ending the life of whoever enraged him into this "mode". He enters an even more focused, mindless killing-machine, bent on using any means or power necessary to kill anyone that severely wounds or kills any member of his squad. As a result, Saru unleashes almost all of his reitsu as his subconscious is no longer trying to regulate it.
History:
Saru was born to a military man and a civilian nurse. His father, Kurushimi Takatsu, was a Rikugun Shyosa of the army. His mother, Toketsuroro Shinata, was the resident nurse at the local hospital. After six years from when Saru was born, his father was killed in the line of duty. He attended the funeral, not really sure about why his mother was crying, or why everyone was wearing black. There was a picture of his father and some candles, and a part of him knew that his dad was gone. But why did he see his father standing next to the coffin, smiling at him. After everyone had left, Saru walked over to his father, noticing that he had some metal on his chest. “Daddy, why don't dey see you?” He smiled and placed his hand on Saru's shoulder. “Well son, I died. They can't see me because they are alive. I don't know how you see me, but i want to tell you something in case it wears off. I love your mother and you, Saru. I want you to take care of your mother for me, alright?” He saluted his son. “That's and order, my little soldier.” Saru smiled and chuckled, saluting his father back. “I will daddy.”
Saru kept to his promise to his father, listening to everything his mother told him to do. He joined a local dojo, learning the martial art style of bojutsu. His sensei, Hatakashi, was proud to teach Saru everything he could. Once he had become very skilled in bojutsu, his sensei entered saru into as many tournaments as he could, gaining money for the dojo and for Saru. His mother was never happier or prouder, going to every tournament and bragging about him to their neighbors and her friends. In high school, he was semi-popular, passing in the top 20 of his class. His next step was the police academy, to become a police officer to better protect and take care of his mom, and the city he had grown to love. He passed the police academy with flying colors, becoming a sergeant in an unprecedented amount of time. It was then that he began to work on undercover cases, first with some easy ones, bringing down a few drug operations in the area. He became a hero in the police department, and even more so to his mother.
Saru ended up getting a case on a suspected Yakuza ring working in the city. He went undercover in their ring, managing to get into a high position when he was sent out of town for a few days. When he came back, he was mugged and taken to a warehouse. When they pulled the blindfold off, Saru felt he was tied to a chair. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw his mother sitting across from him, tied up and gaged. The Yakuza boss then pulled out a knife and held it to his mothers throat. “this is what we do to those cops who think they can bring us down.” and then he slit his mothers throat, and laughed as Saru struggled to get out of the chair, calling out to his mother. In a few minutes, he saw his mother standing behind his mother's body, with the same thing on her chest as his father from long ago. She was about to say something to him when this huge creature walked through the wall and grabbed her. She screamed, and he called out to her even more, trying to get out of the chair. All the Yakuza guys backed up, thinking Saru had gone nuts. Then the white masked creature laughed, and ate his mother. Something inside Saru's mind snapped, and he broke the chair. Swinging the steel pieces of the chair around, he charged after the creature, hitting it a few times. The creature laughed, and knocked Saru across the warehouse, through several crates. He faintly remembered the sound of sirens, then he passed out.
Saru awoke to the unfamiliar white wash walls of a hospital room. The beeps of the machine unnerved him, making Saru look around the room. He saw his Inspector sitting there, looking a bad as Saru felt. The Inspector came over to Saru, trying to smile. “Saru, I'm glad to see you are alright.” Saru got concerned over his Inspector's tone. “Sir, how is my mother? Is she alright?” The Inspector's smile faltered, and he had to look away. “Saru... She was found dead. The warehouse we found you and her in was partially destroyed, probably from an explosion of some sort. The paramedics tried to bring her back...” Saru tuned out his voice, fighting back the sadness and tears. He had failed his mother, and his father. He entered a detached depression, his body filling out the paperwork and following through the motions. But his mind was fracturing even more. 'Why did I see both my parents after they died?' 'what was that monster?' 'How was I the only one to see it?' After what seemed like several years, but was only a few months, Saru saw another creature like the one who killed his mother. He roared out loud, drew his sidearm, and emptied a full clip into the creature's head and eyes. The creature just laughed, as the crowd of people screamed in terror and ran away. A few police officers showed up, and had to get ten other officers to detain Saru and place him in a squad car to take downtown.
Saru was laid off from the force, and entered back into the detached depression again. He hadn't spent a lot of the money he had made from working on the force, so he had enough stored to keep him living normally without a job. One day while at the supermarket, a familiar face brought him out of his depression. Hatakashi, his old bojutsu sensei. They talked for a while, and he convinced Saru to come teach at the dojo. Then next few months were a learning process for Saru, as he learned more about his special ability to see things others couldn't. One night while walking home from the dojo, the next changing point of his life was around the corner, literally. As Saru turned the corner, he came face to face with another huge creature. Instantly his thoughts went back to the warehouse, and he roared again, dropping his bag and swinging his bo staff at the creature. His mind was set into his 'fighting mode', as he landed blow after blow, making the creature roar in pain as it stumbled back. Saru soon learned that he was no match for the creature as he was thrown backward into a building. Coughing up blood, he took a step towards the creature and heard something a part of him feared. He looked down, and saw a chain attached to a plate on his chest. Even farther down was his body, limbs twisted in a gruesome manner. The creature laughed again, and grabbed the chain, breaking it. Saru gasped, feeling a part of him break off. The creature was about to grab Saru when it froze, a line appearing along his face. The monster disappeared, revealing a man standing in a black kimono holding a katana. The man gave a short speech about a life after, and hit him on the forehead with the butt of his sword. The next thing Saru saw was a bright flash of light, then nothing.
Saru woke up dressed in civilian clothes in a run down Edo era town. the other people around him were going about business as usual as Saru got up, and shook his head. He turned around, and jumped a bit as he was spooked by the boy in front of him. "Hey mister! You looking for work?" Saru shook his head, and started to walk off. "hey mister, you're dead now. no place to go but here." Saru spun around, and picked the kid up. "You had best tell me where I am, and how to get back to my house. I have business to finish back there." the kid screamed, and Saru soon had three burly guys standing in front of him, and two behind him. "drop the boy, and we don't have to hurt you... too much." Saru tossed the boy at the man in front of him, and swung around to deflect the attack of one of the guys and kick the other guy in the nose, knocking him out. the three others charged as Saru started to block all their attacks, landing several blows before a loud voice behind him shouted, "STOP!" Saru froze, recognizing the voice of someone with power. He turned around to see a man dressed like the one that sent him where he was. "you are dressed like the one who sent me here. send me back. i have some creatures to kill still." The man laughed, and grabbed Saru's shoulder. "follow me. we got a lot to talk about." The man the proceeded to tell Saru everything. soul society, the 13 Protection Squads, the shinigami academy, and hollows. Saru was then left alone, as his mind processed the new information. After a few months of thinking and practicing with his reitsu, Saru applied for and was accepted into the Shinigami Academy.
After spending six years in t he Shinigami Academy, learning how to master fighting with zanpaktou; Learning Hitotsuboshi's name and conversing with him, gaining even more power and skill when wielding Hitotsuboshi in battle. Not wanting to give away his skill, he pretended to not know Hitotsuboshi's name. This earned him a low seat in Squad 2. He enjoyed working in Squad 2, as it was basically the same as working on the police force. The only problem was that Hitotsuboshi wanted to be used more than what Saru was doing. So eventually Saru showed off his shikai and was moved up a few seats. This led to Saru showing off more and more of his knowledge and skills from his life as a police officer. Saru had to keep learning more new things, consulting with Hitotsuboshi more and training with Hitotsuboshi even more. This led to the birth of what almost every Hollow fears.
The second biggest notch on Saru's life was the day he and Hitotsuboshi became one again. Sent into the real world to chase a renegade Shinigami. He and a few others from Squad 2 had been on his tail for a few weeks. After cornering the man in a warehouse, Saru order them to charge in. Right as he was about to enter, a part of Saru's mind brought up the memory that this was the same warehouse that his mother had been killed in. He heard screams of pain from inside and rushed in to find the renegade standing over Saru's squadmates. Saru snapped, and Hitotsuboshi responded, and there was a giant explosion of reitsu. "Shoushi Moetatsu!" In the blink of an eye, Saru had Yuubae Hitotsuboshi speared halfway through the renegade's chest. He coughed up blood, then sagged down onto Yuubae Hitotsuboshi. Saru then dragged the rengade's and his squadmates bodies back to Soul Society for proper treatment. He then spent a few decades training even more with Hitotsuboshi, mastering his bankai and increasing his reitsu. That was when disaster struck.
The Captain of Squad 11 was killed in battle. Saru could barely wrap his mind around it. There was no way that she could have been killed. It was Squad 11's Captain! A few days after Saru had heard the news, he went before the Captain-Commander and asked to apply for the position of Captain for Squad 11. He had mastered his Bankai, and Hitotsuboshi was more than pleased to help Saru out in any battle that would arise. Saru proceeded to show off everything he had or knew to every captain. He showed off his shikai and bankai, his prowess in fighting one-on-one and in large groups, even his ability to come up with a strategy on the fly in the middle of a battle. It was clear that he was one of the best choices if not the only choice for the seat of Captain for Squad 11.

Since he has trained with a bo staff longer than with a sword, he is much more faster in his strikes, and more smoother in transitioning from strike to block to strike, seeming as fast as a lightning strike
Thrusting Light: One of Hitotsuboshi's abilities, this attack forms and launches a lightning bolt from one of the ends of the staff, traveling in a strait line to where ever Saru has thrusted Hitotsuboshi at. His hamaka has become just barely loose, still allowing his incredible speed to be unhindered while keeping extra fabric out of the way of Yuubae Hitotsuboshi as Saru spins him around. His kosode is made out of a lighter material and is a dark shade of purple, with the squad symbol from Saru's haori now on the back of the kosode in yellow. Across his right shoulder is a sash made from a wolf's pelt, with a wolf's tail attached to it on saru's lower back, making it look like his own tail.

All Saru has to do is point, and the metal bo staff releases 7 supercharged lightning bolts. On contact with anything, they each create an explosion as big as kido number [63] Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down. Since these are just supercharged versions of Thrusting Light, and his bankai releases a vast amount of reitsu, he can fire as many of theses off as he wants too, as long as he has the reitsu to fire them.

"Close your eyes. Breathe. Relax. Find your center. Now STRIKE!" The dojo rang with a chorus of kiais, and then a single strike of wood against plastic. Saru smiled at his class. "That was great. You all may leave now. Be here next week on time this time." The class left, just as Hatakashi walked in. "They seem like a good group this time, sensei. You must be doing some great things with them on the days you aren't busy." Hatakashi shook his head. "No, Saru. It is you who is doing great things with them. I am proud of you."
Saru often enjoyed revisiting that memory, one of the few happy memories from his life. Remembering the memory in the middle of a battle would of made his old sensei even more proud, as Saru blocked off attacks that would kill regular hollow and injure most Shinigami with his bare hands. It was the first of three training periods for his squad. He had too many underlings to train at once. After a few more well thought out attacks, Saru called it a day and sent the men from the first group away. He sat in the middle of the room, centering his self as he waited for his VC to show up. For Saru to train he had to have his VC help him, Aiko Takeshi.

Yuubae Hitotsuboshi is now a dark metal bo staff with a faint yellew, electrical glow emanating from it. Saru's clothes have changed, becoming less frilly and overly loose.
Abilities:
Natural Ability: Due to the fact that Saru's clothing is lighter and less frilly, he has gained even more speed and flow to his attacks and movements than before, making him much faster than a lightning strike.
Tesla Strike: Once those words pass Saru's mouth, Yuubae Hitotsuboshi glows a bright shining yellow, and sparkles with over-charged electricity.
