Name: Sake Kruzyama
Gender: Male
Age: 470 Years Old
Division: 3rd Division
Rank: Captain
Physical Description:
Sake is Japanese, his skin tone a light tan with few blemishes upon his body. His eyes are narrow, and peeking through his eye lids are blue pupils with bright white backing to them, in which some women find most intriguing. His bald head is shaped like a strawberry, slightly round at the top, stretching down to his chin where it comes to a dulled point. His nose is short from the bridge, down to the point which is rounded. Years of fighting in battles have made his nose slightly crooked, at a very slight angle to the left. His lips are particularly a deep pink, almost fuchsia.
Sake walks straight up, his shoulders back, and head up. His chest seems to always boast outward, as his body is muscular. At five foot nine inches, he isn’t skinny nor is he fat, weighing in at one-hundred-eighty-five pounds. His biceps stand out when his arms are uncovered, as he bears a tattoo on his left arm. The Kanji symbols of Love, Loyalty, and Strength are noticed just underneath his shoulder above his elbow. Sake’s chest is firm and tight, where he has a perfect six pack. On the center of his back shows a black and blue tattoo, of a dragon, blowing fire on what appears to be an army or raging hoard. On his stomach he has a scar from a blade where he was cut when he was younger, roughly eighteen years of age.
Sake’s usually wrapped up in the usual black robe a shinigami normally wears. The only difference is the musical sound note cuff links on both of his sleeves, representing his Zanpaktou’s power. His feet are covered by white socks, and beneath them are wooden sandals, found back when he was living. His sword is found mostly covered beneath his robe, leaving just the hilt noticeable by anyone else.
When Sake isn’t on duty, he can be found either by the ocean in the real world, or on the outskirts of the Rukonghai. Where he takes hikes along paths, wearing his wooden sandals, and a crimson colored robe. He walks with his hands out front, held inside of the opposite sleeve of the other arm.
When in battle, Sake’s face becomes focused with his eyes ever more narrow. His muscles tense up, they noticeably show the veins in his neck, and also the veins on his wrist as he grips his blade’s hilt intensely. Sake will place one foot in front of him, bent, slightly leaning forward.
Personality: Sake’s personality is confusing at the least, even to the closest of people around him. His friends think of his humor as odd yet silly at times and his sarcasm sometimes harsh. His temper is what, at the most part confuses people and upsets them. Sake’s emotional side rarely affects his role as a team leader, but there are times where they are most definitely noticeable. Sake is remotely forgiving, though it takes him a while to think about what’s happened.
More in depth; Sake’s humor is odd. He is very sarcastic and his words seem to roll off his tongue as fast as a corvette running from police. His words are fast and take little time forming in his head. At times the sarcasm is rude, but mostly he plays around, slightly joking with other shinigami. When times come however, Sake’s sarcasm comes to an abrupt halt, and he becomes the leader a captain should be. Overall all, Sake would rather be put in a position to sit amongst friends, laughing and joking rather than being serious all the time.
Sake’s temper is tough to understand. It seems that he’s more aggravated by the lousy stories people make up, rather than the straight up truth. He holds his aggravation in to himself a lot, mostly to show he’s a worthy man, trying to keep the honor of a true samurai he once was. It was known that he was able to sleep in the forest once when he was younger, covered in mosquitoes not once swatting at them. This however doesn’t compare to his temper towards evil, as somebody in the wrong doing is an easy exception to piss him off. Within a limit, Sake knows what kind of person to ignore and which he really becomes upset with. Such as if a lower ranking Goteii member tries upsetting him, he knows not to pay any mind to him, but if a captain starts anything, he is very defensive on what they say about him, sometimes occurring to the same personality the late Kenpachi would’ve had, never backing down, no matter the position he’s in.
Emotion is something rarely found through the depths of Sake’s soul. He’s never had a lover, which makes it hard trying to hack into this personality to irritate. Sake never cries, no matter the pain he may be in, but rather transfers this into anger or playfulness such as to poke fun. There may be a time or two, when thinking about his past life, that he remembers his parents. Sake will be extremely quiet and looks as if he’s dazed. His head will dip down slightly, and he will say ‘I love you’ under his breath, in remembrance to his mother, and say ‘Thank you’ to his father. If ever in battle during a rare emotional outbreak like this, it makes it harder for Sake to concentrate.
Sake Kruzyama is known to be a forgiving person. No matter the cost of what previously could’ve happened, he will dig deep in his heart to forget and forgive that person. Whether from losing a battle with somebody, or just being cussed at, it can be forgiven. Everything is part of life, and Sake feels holding a grudge is no way to live. A grudge can be something that holds a man back from learning the truth about another being.
In conclusion to his personality, a few notes are to be learned about Sake to his subordinates. One rule would to be accepting his sarcasm, as it’s not made to hurt another’s feelings, as Sake wants the utmost trust in him from others. Second would to obviously never to even try upsetting him, as this could set off a strong person, and as most people know, you don’t push the bull you can’t run from. And lastly would be to always speak the truth, no matter how harsh it may sound and be, it’s always more respectable.
History:
Sake was born in the 17th century, year of 1538, in the very cold month of February. Sake had a mother and a father. He was born from his father’s third wife, and it would also be his last. Sake grew up doing chores like farming and wood chopping, and on the side was taught some of the martial arts. When Sake was just seven years old his family and village was attacked by a large group of bandits. There was a battle from this, seeing as even his father and a couple other men in the village were skilled swordsmen and masters of the martial arts, in other words samurai. The battle here didn’t last too long however, since it was an opposition of about 4 to 1 (Four bandits for every one samurai). In the midst of the fighting, Sake’s mother was ravishely beaten, and died; his father lost his battle after defeating three men, but was killed from a sword to the back. Sake on the other hand survived and watched the battle from afar. When all was said and done, and the fighting ended, Sake cried for his mother, who was always by his side encouraging him. And though he didn't like his father’s rigorous chores, he understood they’d later in life help him, but this didn’t matter now. With help from some surviving elders, Sake was able to give his parents a small funeral, and then later run from his old home town.
Sake ran not too far from home, towards the mountains and deep through the forest. One day Sake collapsed, he hadn’t eaten very much, and without experience, wasn’t able to catch his own game. He was found moments later by a group of wandering monks, who brought him to their place of residency up on the mountain sides. Here Sake would learn the basics of painting and calligraphy, and learned how to fix and make his own clothing. The monks also have shown Sake what plants were edible, and which would be good for antiseptics. It wasn’t until another six years from now, where Sake would learn the skills of a Samurai.
When Sake was thirteen years old, there happened to be a great war over territory between the two strongest clans at the time. Amongst this war, there were battles held all around the mountain, till one day everything would change. Sake was ordered by the monks one day to head out to the forest to find some fruits and plants. Walking down a trail in the woods, Sake came upon a man. This man was filthy and stunk upon high heavens. He was fully clothed in battle attire and loosely held a katana his hand, as he was flat on his back on the ground. Across this man’s chest were rips in his armor, and cuts into his chest. The only thing that ran through Sake’s mind was help, but that was too far now, and the man’s breathing was very faint. Sake took wild plants that the monks taught him for use as medicine and applied them to the samurai’s wounds. Sake stayed out all night, and made a fire, till the next morning when the warrior awoke. When he did awake, the samurai could barely walk, and being loyal to Sake for helping him, went back to the monastery. Here he would be given the attention he would need, and over the months would heal back to his normal health.
When the warrior finally recognized Sake for his help, he introduced himself. He was the samurai back then known as Yoshiru Okinawa. Yoshiru took Sake in without much hesitation, and make him his student, or in other ways, like a son. He would teach Sake the ways of a warrior, and taught him how to use a blade. Some training methods would be for Sake to stand in a rushing river, holding his balance with a wooden sword in his hand, and block mangos that Yoshiru would throw at him. Sake was also taught a better way of discipline, as battle was meant not just for revenge, but honor. After another seven years, when Sake was trained and a worthy adversary for Yoshiru, he was taken into the same tribe Yoshiru was once in. But this wasn’t the best of news, as another war for territory was about to take place, and bed news for Sake would arrive…
It was a long battle, it took nearly two years to be completely finished, and Sake’s tribe had one. During these battles however, Sake was dispatched to front of the lines, and Yoshiru was not. After countless battles with other warriors, Sake proved to his side he was a worthy man, and very skilled. When Sake finally went back looking for Yoshiru, he was nowhere to be found. After questioning man after man, Sake finally found out, that Yoshiru had been killed in battle. This time, Sake did not weep, but knew it must’ve been and honorable death, and accepted that everyman would die at some point. Sake had then made his mind, and stayed with this tribe till he hit his thirties, only ten years since he joined.
Amongst his time there he battled nearly in fifty more duals with skilled samurai, only getting injured in his first couple duals. And amongst these duals, he hadn’t lost a match. After this, Sake decided to go out on his own once more, and live off the land as a lone samurai. He wouldn’t interfere with anymore battles, and stay astray from problems. Here and there he’d interfere if a girl or young boy was being hurt or taken by rude barbarians. In these acts of kindness, Sake would meet a younger girl, only the age of seven-teen, which he would fall in love with. But sadly for Sake, his lover wouldn’t live much longer. Sake had left his lover in the bright early morning, where the sun had just began to peak over the horizon. He had gone out to surprise this girl with wild flowers, and food for breakfast. But when he returned, Sake would come to see where he was camped out on fire. There were signs of struggle, and the head… of his lover. This girl was the last time Sake vowed to fall in love with.
During Sake’s later years, he would still wander the countryside. He would come upon different cities, and notice how everything had changed from the way they were years ago. One chilly night, in what’s believed to of been between December and January, Sake would meet his end. He was just 46 years of age when he was killed. As he was alone walking down a trail through farm land, Sake was ambushed by a group of rouge and drunken samurai, and although Sake was very skilled, and managed to kill two of them, he was stabbed in the back, while occupied with two men in front of him. As he died, a smile came upon his face, and he remembered the life he had had. His parents, his teacher and step father, and the only woman he loved. Sake lived from 1538- 1584.
Life at the Soul Society:
Sake arrived at the soul society amazed with what it was. He hadn’t thought that an afterlife was quite like this. His religion never even talked about this. He had believed that you should die a truthfully honorable death, and you would live happily ever after as a spirit; just watching the world pass people by. But this was different; it was like a whole new life now, almost like a new start to life in itself. Sake was brought up in the rukongai for years after passing on and coming to the society. He was here for at least three years before learning about the academy to become a shinigami, one to protect others. Sake went about his new life, and joined the academy. He was there for four years, and was able to master his already great sword skills to a whole new level.
First year: Sake’s first year started out rough. He was technically an underdog, quite like all the other new students when he joined. Sake was only good at swordsmanship. But although he was good, he wasn’t good enough, and so this was the trade he practiced more often. Near the end of the first year his class was told they had to dual each other, and the ones who showed most improvement, would continue to their second year. Surprisingly enough, Sake came in 17th place out of the top 30 students who moved on. His class however held 50, but it was good enough, the next year would be better.
Second and Third years: Sake’s second year brought on competition like he never imagined. Here he began to learn about spells and different fighting techniques. His spells however didn’t make it too far this second year, but he still was able to hang in there with the other students. Sake was able to evade attacks faster than the rest if his class, even the kidou spells.
Upon his oncoming third year, Sake just began to get Kidou and Hadou spells. He was still quite rusty, but he was definitely improving. He began to learn of a new type of sword skill, and would just begin understanding his zanpaktou. His zanpaktou was a little different to understand than most other classmates. His blade hadn’t really matured much until he entered his fourth year. Other than this, Sake was now a formidable sword fighter; even the fourth year students had a tough time to beat him. At the end of this year, Sake ended up as one of the top five of his third year, but this time it was from a class of 80. A huge accomplishment and even now the goteii 13 squads were paying attention.
Fourth and Final Year: His final year was a glorious year for Sake. He had just become top classmen in swordsmanship, and top ten for kidou spells. He was being watched by the 2nd and 11th squads as a new placement once he had graduated. This year all the top students (20 of 100 now) where brought to fight hollows. Sake was deemed one of the leaders of his class, well at least leader of his team of 5. This year the school did something different. They made four teams of five, and the team that could destroy all 15 hollows in the shortest amount of time, in a replica of Kurakura town, would be announced the top team and so on. The top team would be placed in the Goteii 13 before the rest were even thought about. Never the less, Sake’s team ruthlessly destroyed all 15 hollow in a time of 6 minutes, and 38 seconds, a record from the old but close time of 6 minutes and 55 seconds. Sake was then hereby drafted by the Goteii 13, and was taken in by the 11th squad for his skilled swordsmanship.
The 11th Division: Sake was placed as a 9th seat in the 11th squad. This was not much different than Sake’s normal life as a samurai. Every weekend the squad would have battle tournaments and have nights of drinking and silly bar fights. Sake even began to totally master his Zanpaktou, by learning its name of Frequency, and finding out its true powers in shikai. Sake was very skilled now in one on one, and even two on one battles. His blades power made it difficult for others to fight against, as sound was one of the five senses that can be used in battle. Within five years of being a 9th seat, Sake was promoted to 5th seat, just two positions away from a noble rank. However, this seat was soon enough as good as gone.
As bad luck would have it, two members, the forth seat and third seat of the squad were sent off to expose of some Hollow. Sadly both members were killed in battle, as the hollow called out were actually menos, and the captain and vice captain had to go and destroy them. And as ranking goes, Sake was next in line, so as terrible as it was; he was pronounced the lutenent of the 11th squad.
Another six years would pass, and Sake would just being to start his bankai training. But this wasn’t all. The vice captain on the 10th division became ill with what now is though’ve as cancer and sadly passed away. With a lot of talking and showings of his true skill, Sake’s application and skill was acknowledged, and Sake became Vice captain of the 10th division. It wasn’t an easy transfer, and it took awhile for the rest of the squad to trust a man from the 11th squad, whose main personality was to fight. Although it took some time, Sake proved his trust by saving most of his squad by some menos they were sent to destroy, and he actually used his bankai to do it. This wasn’t a 100% great thing, as Sake was severely injured by the recoil of his attack. But with more training and practice, his bankai was soon mastered. And after this, Sake put in an application and challenged the 3rd squad’s captain. Sadly the challenge wasn’t met, but within certain doubts of the current captains loyalty, Sake was proved to be the more so trusting man, and was placed as the squads captain from the commander general himself.
Additional Info:
Among other interest, Sake still likes to practice his swordsmanship with his fellow squad members. He even holds training sessions at least once a month to see what skills his squad has. Sake also spends time painting in his room. Amongst the painting he has, he makes pictures of birds and landscapes. Even one wall of his bedroom has a painting of a mountain side he had done, showing a sun-set, and a river divided the mountains. Another hobby Sake still practices is poetry, and although he isn’t an expert, some of it isn’t too bad, and some of his squad likes him to read them aloud every so often.
ZANPAKTOU
Name: Frequency
Spirit Description: Frequency does not have a body like form, but instead, is found to look like a cloud of smoke. The voice of him sounds like a hallway of echoes, as if four or five people talking at once. And as other zanpaktou, nobody but Sake can hear these voices.
Sealed: An average length Katana, but with a blue hilt and silver pendants of two musical notes on a two inch chain attached to the base of it.
Shikai:
Activation Phrase: "Echo"
Appearance: The blade turns into a dual blades katana. The two blades sit side by side, millimeters apart, and extend about 3 inches longer than average. The blades are two different colors, one light blue, and the other frost white.
Abilities: Frequency's shikai is categorized in 3 different types of powers when initiated by Sake, as followed:
1. Echo: When hit by an opponent’s blade, the dual blades echo with the sound of a hundred screeches, piercing the opponent’s ears, sometimes deafening them for a short time. (5% of 100% of reaitsu)
2. Howl: The blade sends a barrage of high pitched squeals, combined with reaitsu, like a strong hurricane wind at its opponent, knocking them away, or sometimes knocking them over. (15% or 100%)
3. Encore: The blades go into a violent vibration, and when swung towards an opponent, vibrate the opponent’s sense of concentration, making them think everything is shaking or "vibrating". (30% of 100%)
Bankai
Activation Phrase: "Sing to the Heavens... Bankai"
Appearance: The blades combine into one, and from a straight set of blades from shikai, they both form into a blade the shape of an “S”. And the blade is sharp on both sides. One side of the blade is blue, the other side white.
Abilities: Frequency's bankai enlist the following attacks, said only in Sake's head:
1. Music of heaven: The area within Sake, about a 100 foot by 100 foot in width and length, of all angles, indulges its opponent to loud decibels of sounds, pounding the person with an un-concentrated amount of force, leaving the person "virtually" defenseless. This is a common attack for Sake, and fully mastered, but still takes about 15% of his reaitsu.
2. Finale: Sake slashes at the air towards his opponent, taking much of his own reaitsu to use this attack, and within a radius of a football field, engulfs the area and his opponent is faced with obstacles of harsh vibrating land, and reaitsu even forcing levitation difficult to maintain without losing concentration to make an attack. This attack is created by the vibrations of his swords power, as if a person is placed in front of a house sized subwoofer. This attack would possibly catch a shinigami of even captain class off-guard and any lower class shinigami in an array of panic. This attack drains about 50% of Sake's reaitsu, and with this, can only be used once per battle, for now.
Techniques:
Flash step: A faster more intermediate form of shunpo.
Hadou #101: Thunder of sounds; makes waves of lightning and sounds to surround its victim and confuse them with electric shocks to the body and screeches to the ears.
Hadou #4: White Lightning.
Hadou # 33: Blue fire, crash down.
Hadou #1: This pushes the opponent away with great force.
Bakudou # 61: Prison of 6 bars
RP Sample:
Kruzy looked onward through the valley of mist and solitude. He didn’t know what the sound was or where it was coming from, as it echoed through the valley floor. The sound could've been coming from anywhere, but he definitely knew, whatever it was, was coming for him.
It was dark out, as he could only see through the valley when the clouds uncovered the full moon. Eerie and frightening to any who travel through it. The air was crisp with a cool breeze flowing to the south, south-east. Animals lay in there caverns, sensing the evil that came their and Kruzy's way.
The echo and noise stopped, this is what he was afraid of. Out of nowhere the storm had arrived, hundreds of armed soldiers, faced Kruzy as if appearing out of nowhere, as they arrived under the now blocked full moon. "And do you feel safe now young lad..." a voice boomed before him. A man stand in front of him, wearing a chest plate of steal, laced with gold leaf, much like the ancient Romans.
"Yes... yes I actually do" Kruzy snickered..." Is this all the men you got?" he said aloud, as he grabbed his sword and shield, running towards the army that blocks his way to freedom. Kruzy slashed his first blow towards the upper section of the man in front of him, simply cutting through the man’s attempt to block with a wooden shaft, and cutting into his flesh, only yielding at his rib cage.
"Whose next you sorry excuse of a hoard!!" Kruzy screamed, as the dawned men, quiet from their so called general’s death, began to bow down, giving the sacred honor to Kruzy for killing their best man, with such an easy attack.
