Oketsu sat atop a tall building looking down across the entire first district of the Rukongai. He wasn't entirely sure what he was doing here, or where he planned on going once he left here. He had hoped to sneak in to the area where the shinigami squads were housed, but he was aware that his looks didn't exactly blend in to the other shinigami in the area, and he knew several of the guards at the gates, who would likely recognise his face. Things aren't looking up for you today It would have been nice to see the old man again, even if just for a while, but were I to get in there and meet him chances are I'd end up executed, or captured and tortured by those second squad rats for information they know full well I don't have. Life is never easy on the fallen, though I suppose that is our punishment for falling in the first place.
Oketsu laughed softly and took a lone petal that was falling through the air infront of him. "Like me, dear petal, you have fallen. Wings of air carry you onwards, towards what you never know, do you? You and I are similar, the soul society was my tree, and just as you were discarded by your tree so too was I. Our lives are never easy my friend, but you are by far the luckiest of the two of us. You are free to roam the world, explore places I can only dream of, and for you the end is not too far away it would seem. Without a tree the leaf cannot survive long, you will wither away and become one with the world from whence you came. Don't be sad though, those who die are reborn here, who knows, maybe it will be you, my friend, who succedes in hunting me down, who succedes in taking me out once and for all? Ha ha, I would hope not dear friend, though I wonder, would you spare me? Would our friendship in this life mean more to you than your duty in the next?" Oketsu sighed and lay back, the petal softly held between two fingers and held over his face. "My friend, before you fade away and join the ranks of the shinigami, before you hunt me down and kill me for a crime you do not understand, I ask one favour from you, from one friend to another. It's a personal favour, so you must not tell anyone of this most secretive of endevours. I want to give you some of my reiatsu, a mark that will show that you and I are friends, that we have met and that I am well. I want you to find my old friend, the Commander General of Soul Society. I know it is a big ask, but I am sure if you can find him in this life, he will be sure to recognise you in the next, you may even take the position I was forced to leave beind old friend. Now that would be an interesting turn of events."
Oketsu drew his finger across the petal, writing his name into it with reiatsu. He then lifted the petal to the air and blew it away, smiling as he did. "Onwards old friend, I wish you luck on the journey ahead." Oketsu then sensed reiatsu, it was close, though was lazy and didn't feel it would be much of a threat, so he simplly lay on his back and looked up at the skies, singing a song lamenting the loss of his old friend the petal.

Her eyes followed the petal as the mild breeze dragged it along. She felt surprisingly at peace… The position she had attained… it made her proud, or rather… she knew he would have been proud. It was a comforting thought, if a tad melancholic. She made no move to intercept the petal, why should she? It would do no harm… This one however… Well… he was brave, if nothing else. Nagato Kasumi leaned against the wall and listened to him sing. So much one could learn from a voice… a few words… it was like a key, opening a door to another person’s world. Expelled from some position… a position from which he had gained the friendship of the Commander-General. Now he was a rogue… A melancholic one, saddened by his loss… and seemingly of a rather romantic disposition. He wasn’t a stupid person, most likely fond of puns… and nature? He was brave… but not cautious. A mistake… or a ploy…
Kasumi had sensed his reiatsu almost the second she entered this part of Rukongai. It was a strong and most vivid reiatsu, so strong it could only originate from someone near her in rank… certainly not an inhabitant of this area. To her senses, sharpened by both necessity and training, it was like the loud tingling of an alarm, impossible to miss. She had found what she sought at the roof of a large tower; it was an old building long since fallen into disrepair. Once it had been beautiful… when there had been glass in the windows, before its red tiles had been coloured deep brown by too much rain. In the mild sunlight of a cold and wintery day it seemed almost gothic. Kasumi had waited and listened on a small precipice just above one of the windows. She did noticed someone else nearby as well… not as strong a reiatsu as the one above her, but still easily readable to her fine tuned sensing. She took a step out from the wall, turned and jumped.
With feline grace she landed at the very top of the roof, a few steps from were the rogue lay. The wind caught in black hair, drawing it along on a merry dance, slight sheens of silver flickered across its surface where the rays of the sun struck it. Her uniform were as always pristine, it to billowing mildly in the wind. She looked up at the skies, they seemed a blur to her… but the sensation of wind upon her face were mild and comforting. Her face was calm and seemingly peaceful… Though as always it held a slightly melancholic sheen, her eyes deep and never quite focused. However, despite her peaceful appearance a thin hand rested firmly on the hilts of her two swords. Chouka glittered softly in the sunlight and the wood in the handles seemed pure white in the light. Her voice was melodically and mild as she spoke, deeper and more mature then her age suggested, but most pleasant,
“It is not the tree that forsakes the flower… but the flower that forsakes the tree… It is not a question of if we fall however… it is how and why we fall that matters,”

Shin walked across the rooftops of the First District, paying less attention to his surroundings than usual, but that was to be expected when one was lost in their own thoughts. He didn't have any particular duties to handle for his division, so he took that as free reign to wander wherever he felt like; if by some unlikely twist of fate he was actually needed for something, he could be easily found via a hell butterfly.
He wandered along with no set path, simply thinking over his latest situation with Kumori. He could understand what she told him easily enough, and managed to eventually accept it, but there was still a piece of the puzzle that he felt was missing. His hand brushed against the faint lines across his forehead where his headband used to be. He did not want to get into another fight with his crazy spirit until he was sure of what he was doing this time; he didn't need anymore scars.
Scars? I barely cut you.
Shin mentally rolled his eyes at the ludicrous statement. And by barely, you mean nearly disemboweled me? He shot back.
Yep, that's minor. I could have actually disemboweled you. The feral voice she said that in sent a shiver down his spine. He could just feel the predatory smirk on her face during that statement.
He was distracted from the beginnings of yet another argument with Kumori by a petal blowing past him. It wasn't the petal itself that drew his notice though, it was the reiatsu signature he was reading off it. Grabbing the petal, he noticed a name scrawled in reiatsu across it. Oketsu? Who was that? Shin quickly dismissed it as some random shinigami fooling around and crushed the petal in his fingers. Flicking away the fragments, he turned his attention to the other sources of reiatsu in the area, on top the largest building. One of them had the same signature as the petal, and Shin didn't have much better to do than to go investigate.
He jumped into the air, using the reishi in the air to control his landing to drop off right at the edge of the building. He scanned both shinigami on top of the roof, starting with the one who actually looked alert. From the badge she was wearing, she was the new vice-captain of the tenth division - there was probably a running bet by now on how long it would take before she got removed one way or another. There was barely anything that really stood out about her clothes, only a choker around her neck, but her eyes, something was definitely off about them. That mistiness was something that he had never seen before, but then he couldn't say anyone had weird eyes with what his looked like.
The other guy however, he was a different matter entirely. At first glance, it was already clear that something was off with this shinigami. While the vice-captain was a symbol of the standard ordered uniform, his robes were tattered, yet he clearly was not injured, ruling out a recent fight. That living world clothes he had on underneath it further supported that. The guy was just lying on the rooftop, singing a song about being cast out, as if he wasn't already suspicious. He made a mental note to look up this guy's name later on, although as it stood, he was probably in trouble for something or the other.
"So a new vice captain for the tenth has been chosen...." Shin said calmly, his teenage voice carrying its usual hint of a darkness lying in wait to pounce at the slightest twitch. He then turned his attention to the vagabond shinigami. "And you, you're certainly an odd looking shinigami." Shin still appeared fairly relaxed, but his eyes narrowed slightly behind his sunglasses as he addressed the man.

Oketsu heard a voice, soft yet laced with inner strength, and most definatly female. He tilted his head back to see a beautiful woman with long black hair that glistened akin to silk. He stratched his head and stood up, dusting himself off. As he checked this new arrival out, he noticed that she wore the mark of a vice-captain. Hmm, she's my level at least, avoiding a battle could be good until I can truely see what she can do. Oketsu looked her in the eyes, and straightened the remains of his robes. "You forget, my dear, far too oft is the flower taken to be shown off as a decoration only to be cast away days later. The life of a petal is rarely a glamerous one darling, I wouldn't reccomend it." Oketsu smiled and brushed his hair back, turning to watch his petal float away, when he saw someone take it and crush it in their hands before continuing onto the rooftop he was on.
Oketsu clenched his fists and looked over to the new addition to their conversation. There was little that stood about him compared to the other shinigami that had joined him, and Oketsu, despite only just meeting him, didn't particularly like this shinigami. "It has been a long time since I lived in the forest with your kind, shinigami, If you absolutely must ask, I am indeed a fallen shinigami, my plan was to visit my former captain for a bit, you might know of him, he is the Commander General after all. Though I was here likely long before your time, I wouldn't be surprised if you had never heard of me to be honest. That said, the Rukongai is not within most of the shinigami squads control? So I could ask what're you doing here too?"
Oketsu didn't feel like saying he was a former vice captain, but chances are the vice captain who was here with him could sense that already. I should have masked part of my reiatsu, this could get dangerous if they both decide to attack me. What have I gotten myself into... Oketsu sat down upon the ledge of the building and leaned out over the edge, "I suppose though you wish to know more about me than the fact I am no longer a shinigami, so I propose a trade or sorts. You tell me how my captain is doing, and how my squad is doing, then I shall answer any questions you ask. And do not worry, I am aware that chances are I would not out run the two of you together, so I shall not try to escape if you don't trust me to honour my word."
Oketsu drew a small blank notebook and a pen from his vest, and looked up at the female vice captain. The other shinigami did not look to be a good source of information comparatively, but even if this vice captain was new, she would likely have been around long enough to get a vauge idea of what has been happening in the Sould Society.

“While they may the taken away, the tree is still not to blame. I do however not make a habit of conversing with rogues…”
Kasumi held back the next line; her voice seemed a tad colder then before. Not hostile, it was still mild and calm… But it suddenly had an edge which made her displeasure clear. She definitively didn’t like the way he addressed her. If there was one thing she couldn’t like, then it was rude people. She lifted a hand and held some of her hair back, preventing it from getting into her face. Her eyes was slowly drawn from the skies, she looked towards him… then on to the boy. She couldn’t see more then a blurry outline of course… but she had long since come to realize the importance of visual contact. How to handle a situation like this… Her fingers ran along the hilt of Chouka, the wood felt strong and alive… he was eager.
This newcomer complicated things. Who was he? His voice was predatory… Maybe even a tad cruel… It was young however, young and quite calm. His movement suggested someone who possessed both agility and speed. He certainly weren’t her equal in rank... but she already knew that. She would guess fourth or third seat in the… That was one of the things which she never quite found a cure for… How was she supposed to know someone division when she could not see their insignia? She had perfected her senses to a level were she could usually tell ranks apart merely by reiatsu. But beyond the 12th neither smell nor sound separated the divisions. There had been… a certain dark hint of cruelty in his voice however… the ninth? Or maybe even the second. But she couldn’t be sure. It was all… rather complicated…
Kasumi wondered how he would react to the rogue. He could see him after all, at least it was the possibility he could identify him… And besides, she had the upper hand in this scenario, there was no hurry. If he tried to run then the former third seat of the sixth “tracking and pursuit” division was rather confident she could keep up. And if he decided to fight here… well that was undesirable, but still a fight where the odds were stacked heavily in her favour. She was surprised with his bravery however, and his stupidity… To try and get into Seireitei as a lone rogue was the equivalent of suicide.

Shin took in the rouge's body language, paying particular attention to how his entire being read that he had at least a slight bit of anger towards him. While that was nothing new, Shin hadn't done anything to the guy yet, which made it undeserved. His words were to put it lightly, unsettling. Just what kind of shinigami uses words like your kind? Even for a rouge, his statements gave off the impression that he wanted no connection with other shinigami. Yet, he was willing to attempt to sneak into the Seireitei to meet his former captain, which was an act of suicide in itself. So there was some feelings of hatred towards shinigami, and a lack of foresight. He was also a bit presumptuous, pulling out a book as if it was a forgone conclusion that he would actually gain information out of this. The vice captain seemed to grow colder towards him as well.
"You do realise that in your situation, we could simply arrest and interrogate you right?" Shin pointed out. "It would just be speeding up the inevitable under any event, as a shinigami you should be aware of what would happen if you try to sneak in. Assuming that you aren't stopped outside the gates, you wont make it ten feet before you have Gate defense, Inner defense, and possibly Tracking and Pursuit and the Special Forces after you. Although a bit of exercise chasing you down might be fun for a bit, it would be much less destructive to restrain you here."
"That said, we also have no reason to trust you. You are a rogue shinigami, for reasons unknown. Giving you information when we are unaware of why you're a rogue wouldn't exactly be wise, especially since, as you noted, the two of us could easily outrun and overpower you. If anything, you should be the one giving us reasons not to drag you into a cell kicking and screaming."
The die was cast, now all that was left was to see the rogue's response. Shin wouldn't be surprised if it involved running away - he was looking forward to that actually, a nice chase wouldn't be a bad thing.

Oketsu sat up and looked over at the shinigami, thinking on how to respond to them, until a familiar feeling crept into his mind, and an even more familiar voice echoed through his head. They seem to want to see before they get any answers, maybe you should show them. You do realise that if things go wrong I will need your power to stand a chance against them don't you, the time it takes my body to recover from wearing the mask, I can't afford to just throw it on for show. If they see, they may be lest tempted to attack you, they don't know how much control you have over your mask, you could bluff them?[/b] Do remember most shinigami would kill a vaizard on sight, and since they outnumber me the chances of survival without the mask are slim to say the very least. Oh you're no fun, I'll bet you whip Genesis out and wave him around plenty, and I'll get nothing. Would you stop complaining, this is a dangerous situation...[/i] Oketsu sighed and placed the book at his side and lay the pen across it, then stood up and pulled on his pants to straighten the creases out of them before giving another heavy sigh of resignation.
"Arrest and interrogate me on the spot, you sound like a second squad rat. I was hoping to gain information on the movements of your squad as well, though I suppose that is out of the question now. And as to knowing why I became a rouge, story is both sad and happy, a story of a life taken away due to circumstances it could not control. I was once the third seat of the first squad, and fought with a rather powerful arrancar, not that I remember much of the fight. I blacked out and then awoke with the arrancar dead, and me in fine shape, which was odd since the memory before that was me losing the fight. Defeating that arrancar, combined with everything else I had done, earned me the rank of vice captain of the first squad, which is no small feat given who the captain of that particular squad is. Anyway, it seems some people from a certain shinigami squad that I'm not exactly fond of were watching the battle with the arrancar, and pointed out that I had, infact, become infected with hollowification. Not that I wanted it, nor did I even intend to use it unless I had to, and even then, only for the good of soul society. But on the day of my promotion, there was a massive ceremony and everything, shinigami from that same squad attacked me and forced me into a corner, I had the choice of dying and being remembered as a hero who was murdered by a squad gone wrong, or living as an outcast with the hope of redemption some day. So I put on my mask and fought my way out of here, though I think perhaps my captain ordered most of the pursuing forces to stay back, which is why I wanted to find him now. I have information on the humans that could provide useful for the shinigami, and I've also noticed much more movement by the hollow in and around the Senkaimon, which made me wonder if the hollows had massed an attack, and perhaps some energy left behind was still attracting them here. Thus I came to investigate. Now, you know my story, you know why I was here, so tell me of the Commander General, is he well, what has happened here, and the like." Oketsu reached behind him and grabbed his notebook and pen again, he knew saying he was a vaizard was not going to do him a world of good, but if his inner hollow tried to talk again, it may accidentally reveal it's own reiatsu, assuming it hadn't already, and Oketsu would rather they hear it from him then discover for themselves and kill him on the spot.

Kasumi made a soft gasp, as if she suddenly realized something… And indeed it did explain a lot. There had been something strange about him all along... I should… have realized this earlier. She shook her head slightly, seemingly not minding the other two. A Vizard... Kasumi had never encountered any of them before, but she certainly knew about them. The Vizards were Shinigami who had embraced the hollow powers which resided within every soul. That went a long way to explain the sudden fluctuations in his reiatsu… and his tale explained how he could have so much of it….
Slender fingers was drawn through long black hair, Kasumi had looked up at the skies once more as the rogue told his tale. He told it with a lively voice, though carrying the bitter hint of anger and sadness. She didn’t doubt his honesty… she could tell when someone lied… His story certainly was a good one and it too had explained a lot. For one it explained why he wasn’t fond of the young man… and it explained his errand here…. It even explained how he had become a traitor. What didn’t explain however… was why. The question isn’t if one fall… it is how. He said it himself; he could have chosen death as a hero... People are so different… Again Kasumi shook her head, as if she couldn’t quite understand him. She definitively couldn’t identify herself with his tale, nor did she manage to fathom his motives… But one thing she could understand… The bitterness of his loss. The feeling of having your life swept away by a cruel fate… that feeling she could understand.
She sighed softly and looked over at the rogue with eyes that couldn’t focus properly. All she could see was a blurry outline and a mix of black, white and silver speckled with the occasional appearance of skin, beyond him were simply a hazy mess of colours. Kasumi’s fingers kept working her hair, slowly combing the black silken strands. She had a thoughtful expression on her face, a slight frown. The small splats of grey in her eye seemed to grow slightly, the deep green turning distant and remote. She would have to make a choice soon… The breeze caressed her cheek with its mild kiss…; I never liked choices…

Shin didn't show any visible reaction to the rogue's, no vizard's speech, but he was already analyzing the information he got out of the guy's rant. His speech seemed to be more or less true from his body language, and really, no one lied about being a vizard while in close proximity to Seireitei. It certainly explained that odd feeling about his reiatsu that kept creeping up every now and again.
"Second squad rat? That's a new one, you seem to have some issues with the Special Forces, but from your little rant, it's apparent why at least." Shin began, his voice still calm. "You really know nothing about the squad if you thought you could possibly gain information about it from anyone though. If people could actually track our movements, it would make it a bit problematic to our jobs now wouldn't it? Especially since more likely than not, we'll end up having to kill you, since you clearly have some grudge against the entire division over the actions of a few of them. Why would you want information about the division that you want to avoid? We don't go down to the human world often, it's the tenth and sixth divisions that you need to worry about if you were concerned about still being hunted. The only thing you would need information about the second division for is if you wanted revenge."
Shin's expression shifted into a full glare as his voice became frigid. "And in that case, I'm certainly not going to leave you running free to murder my fellow companions. We have enough of a mortality rate as it is without some vizard with a chip on their shoulders trying to purge our entire division."

Oketsu laughed, "In the human world, I have read many books. There was a time when human warriors would devote their entire lives to vengeance, would dedicate every moment of their existance to claiming revenge on those who have wronged them, and if they failed they would take their own lives as punishment for their failings. I have been outcast from my home for over a century, I have had a lot of time to think of a lot of things. I will have my revenge on your squad, however that is not the main reason I am here today. Were I wanting to take my revenge in full I would rejoin the humans and bring them along. I simply came to find information, and if possible meet with my captain again. If you wish to stand in my way it is your own choice, albeit not a very bright one." Oketsu was growing irritated, he was tempted to kill the second squad fool where he stood, but he didn't like his chances if the girl stepped in. There was something about her though, her eyes seemed almost glazed over, vauge and not really focused. But Oketsu didn't really have time to deal with these thoughts, again the same feeling crept through his body, and Oketsu sighed.
You can take revenge now, kill the rat and leave. No, that would be stupid and get us both killed. And then you die just like in your books, isn't that what you wanted? Actually, I'd rather be one of the heroes who survives the book, thought maybe that would be acceptable, get my revenge, find a nice girl, retire to a life among the humans again, it'd be nice. I'm sure it would, but who will remember you then? Isn't this heroic death a chance you have been waiting for? No...because only killing one of them will not be my revenge, they are an entire division, there is much work to be done, now do you mind, I was trying to have a conversation. You are no fun half the time...[/i] Oketsu exhaled deeply and brushed his hair back, looking into the eyes of the vice captain as she stood pensively. What happens here is your choice, vice-captain of the tenth division. On his own, he will stand little chance against me, but combined I will stand little chance against both of you. Or you could simply let me leave, and pass on a message for me, I am sure you have strength enough to prevent this fool from following me and starting something. Things would be easier for both of us if everyone walked away from this situation alive, to say the least." Oketsu then adjusted his gaze to look upon the second squad shinigami, "And as for you. Vaizard is such a horrible term, I personally prefer to reffer to myself as a fallen shinigami. Vaizard implies I have forgone my shinigami nature, and become little more than a hollow with more powers. That is not the case, my mask is not something I am proud of, nor something I show off just to make a good impression. It is a curse and, unlike here, in the human world they would never try to find a way to cure it, only a way to replicate it in themselves, thus your squad has doomed me to become a monster. The ball is no longer in my court however, as the humans would say, and where this goes is up to you two standing before me now. So what will it be." Oketsu's gaze shifted between the two shinigami, his face set in a serious look tinged with hope. Cure me? Are you serious? No, but I'd rather not have my half dead body sent to the RnD squad for examination and experiments, wouldn't you? No, not really, I can't feel your pain, though it does often put big bloody holes in my house, did you know that? No, and neither is this the time to discuss that... Oh very well, have it your way killjoy...I'm going to sleep, wake when you're about to die. You're vote of confidence means so much to me...thank you...

Choices… Life is made up of our choices… I never liked choosing… It’s so unsatisfying… It always leaves a path unexplored… Kasumi allowed a small sigh to escape past her lips. The frown on her forehead had eased out while she had been thinking. And now… now was the time for an answer. His suggestion was of course not an option. However, she wished she knew who he was. He properly was someone who was to be killed on sight… But she couldn’t be certain; maybe he was indeed wanted by someone. The ideal thing would be…
“I hope you do understand I will under no circumstances allow you to simply walk away. Do you honestly expect me to fight a fellow Shinigami and carry messages for you?...”
The voice wasn’t quite so cold anymore. It was milder and a tad lower. Her face was soft and it seemed almost as if she understood his loss. Kasumi paused and tilted her head slightly to the side, trying her best to study the outline. Her memory was a very strange thing and while she could sometime appear a bit ditzy she also possessed photographic memory. From her time in the 6th Division she could remember almost every report of every wanted Shinigami… What she needed was a name or a face… A face would be tricky, but a name… She wondered if she could get that. There was always the chance…
“However… I can tell you that when last I saw the Commander-general he was well though he as always had a lot to do. More then that I will not tell you. In return I would like… to know your name?”
Slender white fingers ran down along Chouka’s naked blade. She could feel it… a part of her Zanpakuto longed for combat. Kasumi didn’t take her eyes off the Vizard, deep green eyes regarded him silently… They seemed rather piercing but… at the same time they had a distinct sad and almost otherworldly feel to them… The soft wind that had played all day suddenly decided to pitch up and make soft black hair rustle softly. There was a low sound of soft silver bells, their chimes a haunting song upon the mild wind…

Shin took in the vizard's attempt at intimidation - or did he honestly believe what he spoke? The guy wasn't all that bright after all, he did want to sneak into Seireitei.
This guy.....he really is that conceited isn't he?
Yeah, he's pretty arrogant, kinda like a certain shinigami I know. The smugness in her voice was unmistakable.
Yes, yes, I have ego issues, I'm getting better aren't I?
I'll give you that, but tell me, why are you going to fight this guy? Because of your pride in your power, to protect your comrades? If you want to move forward, you need to know why you're fighting.
Shin actually took a moment to consider Kumori's words - he was listening to her most of the time now, that was new. Usually they fought at least a few times per day. Back on topic though.....
"You truly have some severe ego issues to work on. You're a wanted man, and yet you're here at the doorsteps of the place that has a warrant out for you, letting your reiatsu run wild. You demand information, and immediately assume that we will answer you, ignoring that you're a rogue. You think that you can wipe out an entire division - the same division that made you run for your life in the first place - without a second thought. For some reason, you seem absolutely sure that you can beat me easily, with no idea of who I am. I'm honestly surprised that you haven't gotten killed yet with that arrogance."
Shin paused here for a bit, partially to let his words sink in, even though he knew that the vizard wouldn't listen, and partially to ponder the sheer irony of him actually giving someone a speech on arrogance. Good grief.....
"I honestly don't care much what an idiot thinks of me. However, I do care about the safety of the members of my division. You are enough of a threat that you could easily kill the lower seated members, and the unseated ones, who you would be most likely to run into, would just be slaughtered. I am not letting you walk away to kill people over some vendetta on shinigami not even involved with what happened to you. Bakudo #55, Shiirudoruumu."
So that's your answer....... there's hope for you growing up after all. It was only there for an instant, but Shin thought that he heard a bit of pride in Kumori's voice.
A faint light shimmered a distance away from the three people on the rooftop, isolating the three in a clear cube of reiatsu. "You think that it would be so easy to kill an entire division? Then prove it. Unless of course, you can admit that you're nothing more than a braggart who is only capable of preying on people that can't fight back, in which case feel free to try to run. Otherwise, I'm perfectly willing to give you a hands-on example of just how hard it will be to get your misguided revenge, fallen shinigami." Shin let his real reiatsu flow for an instant, the killing intent blatantly clear. "I ask for you to please stay out of this, Vice-captain. The barrier should keep the surrounding area safe from harm."

Oketsu smiled as he looked to the vice-captain. "I would never expect you to just let me walk away, but you wouldn't have to take me in, or kill me. There are ways around these things, and as for my name. I am Oketsu, Ranmyaku Oketsu, former Vice-Captain of the First Division. I do believe if you are thinking of searching for my records you will either find them logged as an incident one hundred and sixty three years ago, or it is likely my captain deleted the records. I am unsure as to why, but when I was fleeing the Seireitei my Captain called off the forces following me, perhaps to help me escape, perhaps to lessen the damage so that whole squads wouldn't be sent to hunt me down, or perhaps even to protect his own image, a Vice-Captain turning on his squad and decimating the unseated population is not a good image for any Captain, and may have endangered his position as Commander General. I have always wanted to know, perhaps one day we will meet again, and you can tell me what you found when searching for me." Oketsu laughed and turned to step up onto the ledge of the building so that he could jump down, when the other shinigami spoke.
Oketsu turned back and looked over to the shinigami, no longer looking calm as he noticed the barrier appeared around them. "I would never run from the second division, I ran for my life because all the Captains of all the squads were there as I was being promoted. We did things a lot flashier in my days it would seem, but enough reminiscing. My arrogance has not gotten me killed because I have the power to back it up child, I would hope you too have the power to back up your words. And Vice-Captain, two things, first, I would ask your name too, and secondly, you have my word that I will not kill this shinigami if you do not intervene."
Before waiting for a response, Oketsu raised a single opened hand towards the shinigami who wished to do battle with him, and noticed a wave of reiatsu pulse out from the shinigami. "Oh, that feels like a Vice-Captain's level of reiatsu. I am impressed, but allow me to show you both a technique that has long since been lost to the Soul Society. Bakudo #61 Chains of Fury!" Four red metal chains burst from the ground around Shin, and each would aim for a limb, moving at incredible speed. The chances of dodging were minimal, and if at first the chains missed, they would happily try again until they had bound and pulled apart Shin's arms and legs, holding them in a way that prevents him from drawing his zanpakuto.
Until his opponent was caught, Oketsu would focus on dodging, he didn't expect either of his opponent's to know how to break the chains of fury, and since it was simply a restraining measure, he hoped he would be able to continue to converse with the Vice-Captain while the fool struggled aimlessly against the chains.

Brats… It was a spiteful thought which…. Seemed to hold true in this instant. There was a sudden spike of Reiatsu as the young boy unleashed his full spiritual pressure. It was surprisingly strong… but strong enough? Possibly… So he doesn’t want me involved? Very well… it is he who is to end up in the sick bay… Challening a Vizard… he can’t be quite sane… But then, most men seem to be stuck as brats… damned annoying brats.
Kasumi’s eyes fluttered close as she lowered her head, a soft sigh escaped between the thin lips. She understood concepts such as honour and pride very well, having been brought up as a noble. The boy wanted to fight alone to prove himself right… putting his life and the life of others on the line merely for show. Such had nothing to do with honour… that was being irresponsible. Men seemed to be like that, irresponsible and arrogant to an astonishing level. Maybe a sound beating would teach him something though? “If he wishes it so much… Let him do whatever he wants. It will only make things easier…” The voice in Kasumi’s ear was silken smooth, low and polite. It was… almost too low, a soft whisper that almost sounded dangerous… and its tone was ice cold. She slowly shook her head, not answering the voice of Shisui. She knew him to be right… but she didn’t like the idea of letting the boy put his life on the line…
“Ranmyaku Oketsu… Very well…”
Kasumi took a few elegant steps backwards along the spine of the roof, not as much to avoid getting caught in the fight as to show her intentions. The flickering bright-bluish light of the barrier laid a strange light across her features and reflected in deep green eyes. She couldn’t understand what this Oketsu was thinking; a fight would alert the Gotai 13 whatever the outcome. She kept her eyes closed; it was something she quite commonly did during combat. This was their fight… she would stay out of it unless the Vizard made a bid to escape.
“I won’t interfere… This is your responsibility as a representative of the second division. As for you Oketsu, I have no habit of telling my name to strangers. Maybe we will have business later on… it can wait til then…”

When the vice captain chose to leave the fight to them, Shin breathed a sigh of relief; if she chose to interfere he couldn't exactly stop her, but now at least he could prove to this vizard exactly why he shouldn't underestimate him.
Well whenever Kumori stopped laughing within his head anyway.
You're just having a field day aren't you?
Got that right Shin-chan, I'm finally getting redemption! Oh, if Tsuno could see you now!
Sheesh, you're never going to let me forget that you were right, are you?
Shin sighed again, noting the vizard's rambling about an ancient kido. He personally doubted that the kido was that old, more likely just uncommon for some reason. As the red chains shot at him, Shin simply vanished, reappearing a few feet back from his original spot, with his hand pointed at Oketsu, blue reiatsu swirling around that outstretched arm in a vortex.
"Homing chains, interesting. Hado #57, Honryuu." He said blandly, but the effect was immediate. The blue vortex shot forward and expanded into a tidal wave of water. The high pressure stream easily crushed the chains, a bit too easily considering that it was supposed to be a level 60 bakudo. That explains why it isn't well known if it can be destroyed so easily. Under any event, he had five seconds of water, enough to simply keep chasing Oketsu down for a bit.
"Is this what you call me not standing a chance against you? Then I'm concerned about what you call a challenging fight."
