OOC: Alright, my attempt at reviving Shattered Soul, most of the following is a combination of a recap and a retconn of what happened previously in the rp, with an additional paragraph or two to give an excuse for why more Shinigami would be arriving now. Keep in mind ANYONE can join, though if you're a human you obviously need an excuse to be there since it's pretty far away from Japan. Below here is going to be a few spoilers regarding what occurs so I advice reading the post first if you're interested in it at all.
I mentioned a "previous force" at the Shinigami bit, which is an excuse to get more VC level and under characters into the RP as it would make little sense to send a bunch of fifth seats into a warzone... NWO members could just join Daniels group (Though I advice anyone from there to read the NWO part of the last thread as I recall there being a lot of minor details like the general layout of the temporary outpost which I forgot to mention here.), Hollow and Arrancar can also join of course as the massive Garganta and high activity is bound to attract some attention even in Hueco Mundo. And lastly: Don't break your muse writing for this, I won't be asking for super exceptional posts as I mostly just want to finish it. Sorry if some bits might be confusing, was a lot of details to try and cram together and I'm bad at cramming things together. I might expand on it if people think it's necessary but for now I just wanted to get it up before I went to sleep...
IC: For nearly a week the atmosphere in the Finish capitol of Helsinki had been tense, spiritual activity had skyrocketed in days yet there were no Shinigami to be seen. Anyone who had been outside the city and recently arrived would have noted how it felt as if they entered a closed off bubble or cloud, almost like a different world... But of course this was impossible, though it remained true that something kept the growing reishi in the city inside it's limits and as a result it had attracted Plus and a few Hollow. Luckily there had also been a gathering of Spiritually Aware humans who had been able to keep the oddly few hollow at bay.
It was in the midst of this strange situation that Zhiel Azerin, former 3rd seat of the 10th Division found himself, having travelled quite far from Japan both to avoid the ever watchful eyes of Soul Society but also to locate someone who might be able to help him. For many months now Azerin had been the host for a malicious entity, an ancient Hollow whom had possessed him and was now like a parasite on his very soul and as a result it was slowly converting his body into that of a Hollows... The Hollow had been able to take control of his body for long stretches of time and he assumed the only times it let him get control back anymore was when it needed to rest but that was little more than speculation on his part, and during these times the Hollow had continuously bolstered it's strength while doing... Unspeakable things... At this point Azerin was not sure if dying himself wouldn't actually be beneficial to the Hollow...
Despite his own seemingly hopeless situation Azerin tried to stay focused, after escaping Soul Society it was now his responsibility to bring an end to this menace he had unleashed. Which brought him to the current situation... Having been in need of some rest Azerin had laid down on the roof of the Helsinki Cathedral, one of the highest points in the city, however it appeared a member of Division 2 had somehow tracked him to the city and it was by sheer luck he wasn't ambushed without warning. The Helsinki Cathedral's roof had five "spires" protruding from it, four small in each corner and one larger tower-like construction at the center. Azerin had been behind one of the smaller spires and it was by sheer luck he noticed a shadow moving over him, it seemed the tracking Shinigami had felt the Cathedral to be a good lookout post just as he, and luckily had neglected to look down when jumping up on top of it.
His luck had not lasted however and he was soon being pursued across the alleys of the city, occasionally having a clash of blades and exchange of words where he and Shin of the second Division appeared near equals for the most part even if their ideologies differed greatly. It was unlikely their battle would reach it's conclusion this day however.
In a different part of the city Aiko the Vice-Captain and sometime in the future to be Captain of the 11th Division, who had been sent in order to investigate the strange situation the city was in after a report from Shin ran into a mysterious young woman calling herself Aure. He had sensed a hollows presence and immediately moved to purify it, however just as he arrived on the cite flames exploded out of a nearby alley, taking two running Plus with it. When he had rounded the corner he found the charred and disintegrating remains of the Hollow and Aure standing in front of it with what was unmistakable a Zanpakutou in her left hand, however it was clear her body was real and not a gigai... She had then dropped the Zanpakutou which simply vanished as if it had never been there in the first place and while walking past the crumbling remains of the hollow appeared to collect part of the reishi that was being released... Of course, this could very well be a trick of the mind on Aiko's part.
Obviously Aure was suspicious so it was only natural for Aiko to start questioning her, however she seemed to have little interest in him at all even going so far as to ignore him and walk past him until she finally turning to glance at him over her shoulder. "You do not belong here... You are not like us." She had said, and while Aiko had not given up and continued to ask her questions she seemed to be a bit more helpful as she at least tried to answer him, though she herself seemed unsure about what was going on or what she had meant. From what she could tell a “gathering” was taking place, many felt drawn to this place but once here their purpose for coming was obscure but she knew she shared a “connection” with these others and that it was not just humans that had come, but spirits as well.
He was about to continue questioning her when they were suddenly jumped by two weaker Adjuchas Class Hollow, one smaller but very swift one leaping toward Aure with claws ready to rip her to shreds when suddenly she raised her palm toward it and a red beam of energy shot out and incinerated the hollow and a portion of a nearby rooftop. Though busy with the other Adjuchas Aiko had still seen the attack which had without a doubt been a Cero. Just who, or what, was Aure?
Simultaneously to this a temporary outpost of the NWO, under command by Operations Commander(A temporary title given to Operatives when they are assigned to lead Operations) Daniel Conrad was under attack by a powerful serpentine Adjuchas Class Hollow however it was chased off after the un-armored Daniel had thrown make-shift explosives made out of the melted carcases of some unfortunate Grunt’s armor suits at it’s face. However they were still working on calibrating their radar systems to be able to operate within the city limits, thus they could not pursue the Hollow as they would be unable to track it properly and with more space to maneuver it would be a lethal foe to any of them.
Everything was proceeding at a somewhat natural pace, until out of nowhere the sky was ripped asunder as hundreds if not thousands of Garganta opened around the city, forming a globe around it effectively cutting it off from the real world, for any spiritually aware inside the city limits it would feel as if they had been sucked into Hueco Mundo itself... Obviously that wasn't the extent of the unfolding chaos, as Hollow began to pour out of the pitch black barrier almost raining down on the unfortunate city in droves. Most were of the weaker variety but even the weakest Hollow was dangerous in sufficient numbers and most of the inhabitants of the city were after all not spiritually aware, thus what soon followed was a bloodbath. Strangely enough though many of the Hollow ignored the panicking humans and seemed to either target other Hollow or Spiritually Aware humans, despite their often superior power.
As the tension of the city turned to utter chaos the battle between Azerin and Shin ended, Shin knew he could not hope to survive what had happened on his own and rather than risk injury fighting Azerin he decided to seek out Aiko or any other Shinigami that might be present. Azerin himself was unsure of what he should do in this situation, however his sense of chivalry while deafened was not completely abated and as such he decided to try and protect as many people as he could. In another part of the city Aiko tried to reason with Aure to come with him as they would be safer together however she didn't seem too bothered by the approaching horde, indeed she seemed overjoyed about it all... In the end Aiko set out to find Shin or any other allies he could while Aure disappeared. While this occurred Stealth Operative Marissa Truax and a team of technicians was on the way back to base in their Attack-Transport chopper after unloading a number of technological devices that would increase the efficiency of their radar systems when it was suddenly brought out of the sky by a Hollow that tore it to shreds with ease. Luckily she survived the crash but she was stranded in the middle of the city and her comm unit had malfunctioned...
At first everything seemed to be complete and utter chaos, however after just a few minutes time it became clear there was more than a handful of humans with Spiritual Powers, as what one might describe as gangs began to clear any Hollow that came in their path with a myriad of different powers and abilities, and while few of them seemed particularly powerful, they just as the Hollow were numerous. And just as the Hollow, they too seemed prone to in-fighting as was evident when a large group that seemed to hail from a southern European country met a smaller group of Scandinavians and practically ripped them to shreds without pause or remorse... Helsinki had turned into a warzone.
In the distant Soul Society word of the "Garganta Dome" had begun to spread as whatever high level Shinigami that were available were summoned as a temporary task force to go down to the forsaken city. Their mission was two-fold: One, to rescue the Shinigami sent down to the city, including the smaller force that had been sent just an hour prior to assist Shin in capturing Azerin. And two, to discover the cause of the event and if possible rectify it. Once they entered the Dome they would be on their own, communication in and out seemed completely shot, though they expected to be walking into Hell on Earth...
