Name: The Fading
Genre: Supernatural/Horror/Mystery/Adventure/Action
Length: Short to Long. Until we get our bearings the RP will be more episodic than one giant story (all stories will be related to the source but not necessarily each other) and so each episode will be short at just a few pages or less. However if others show interest and we get moving we may fall into a longer arc.
Rating: 6 – Heavily horror related, some occasions will be bloodier than others though and some might include gore though as said the emphasis will be on scares over gross outs. Later on when the characters begin fighting back it may be bloody as well.
Synopsis
The school year has begun at the new private Ritsuzen Academy and the latest upper secondary (highschool) students are moving their way up in the world. Ritsuzen was initially an old mansion owned and added to for over two hundred years, despite this it is absolutely massive and a match for any other school not counting a wonderful garden and its own growing field. While traditionally the mansion was a house it has been extensively remodeled into a proper academy and other portions transformed into other school amenities.
The mansion was bought by the Ritsuzen staff after the last master of the grounds died and had nobody left to leave it too. Extensive dark rumors about the house run rampant but the principle of Ritsuzen, Zamaki Arashi being one of the “new” Japanese who have begun to try and leave stigmatic legend in the past never gave it a second thought. Clearly the parents agreed, or at the very least agreed with the prices of the new academy compared to other private schools and readily sent their children off to this mansion set in a rural clearing in the middle of a forest.
Ritsuzen is a normal academy otherwise but due to being a closed campus in which everyone stays within at all times (there would be nowhere to go outside anyway) and students are housed in the old servant’s quarters it also serves other purposes. It’s a friendlier setting in which the teachers monitor the children closely and the normal bullying and peer pressure of other schools is strictly punished. However it is not done in a cruel way and many side classes, after school activities and on the weekend optional school rallies are put together such as nature hikes and trips to a nearby lake. This style of life sits well with many parents who feel Japan is moving to fast or in some cases those who have children whose personality befits a more personal atmosphere.
But all is not well at Ritsuzen, the legends of these old grounds were but the byproduct of something far more sinister and even older than the mansion itself. Perhaps the principle should have believed in spirits because for those that can see the dead this place can be a horror. The first few weeks have gone by smoothly but the number of people on the grounds is bringing something up from below, something best left forgotten and something horribly dangerous. Only those who can see into the darkness and fight back will be able to learn the mystery…and survive it. Save Ritsuzen before everybody here joins the legions of the dead themselves.
Until it is deemed that too many people are joining (haha, ya) nobody will need to make a profile. All characters should be spirit sensitive in some respect though at the time for many of them seeing the spirits may be as far as it goes, later we will start to gain the power to fight back but few if any should have such capabilities at the moment.
