Personality
Tsukikage tends to keep to himself, emotionally separating himself from other people so as not to get too close to them. Tsukikage is a calm and collected person in most situations, allowing him to keep a clear frame of mind and often acts as the voice of reason among others. Tsukikage holds deep distrust of others, believing that everyone generally is born evil and that is the nature of all beings. Due to this distrust, Tsukikage questions everything that he is told and never takes things to heart. One of his most valuable skills is the way in which he can tell apart truth and lies. Tsukikage is extremely over-analytical, analyzing every single outcome of a specific event. Tsukikage is the perfect example of the conflict between reason and emotions as emotions often cloud people’s judgment. His outlook on life is a serious and pessimistic one as he will not tolerate any lack of seriousness and care for a specific event.
Tsukikage has grown up to follow the strict moral values of the Samurai Code of Honor, which all became vain to him, once he became a Vizard and neglected everything he had learned as a Shinigami and stopped believing in things like honor. He follows the general mindset of thinking logically over honorably, in the way that he won’t turn down a moment to attack even when the opponent’s back is turned as that might be the only chance the user gets to attack the opponent. Even so, Tsukikage still has his own sense of self-righteous honor. In this sense of honor, Tsukikage will not back down from a fight as he believes that he would rather die in battle than run away.
Tsukikage has a generally strange outlook on fighting as his fighting methods are somewhat unorthodox and he will do anything that it takes to win, no matter what it is. Once the fight gets too serious or threatens to harm something that he would be willing to stand and fight for, Tsukikage sometimes changes beyond the use of reason. At this point, Tsukikage is unnerved and loses his calm attitude. This causes a much stronger fighting style, motivated to the point where he neglects the use of reason and throws caution to the wind, not caring about anything besides the person or thing that he is fighting for’s safety. At this point in time, Tsukikage is sent into blind rage and is a much easier target to destroy as long as the opponent holds some sense of intelligence; however, if the opponent is not able to counter Tsukikage’s techniques then he becomes an even more powerful opponent. This tends to be the reason that Tsukikage keeps to himself, so as not to make any friends so he does not lose control, trying to protect someone.
Tsukikage has very few things that he cares about, but will do anything to protect those few things that he does care about. Tsukikage is not easily angered and is only saddened by the memories of the loss of past comrades. He usually just drowns these sad thoughts out of his head, to keep a clear mind to fight. This makes him the perfect example of the conflict between reason and emotions. An even deeper aspect of Tsukikage’s personality is that he loves nothing more than a good fight and only wishes to fight someone of equal strength and intelligence as him.
Tsukikage has an over-all stable mind and is capable of focus even under the most intense of pressure. Tsukikage is extremely intelligent on many different points, the main one being fighting. When fighting, he is extremely strategic and concentrated and well-versed in most aspects of fighting. When it comes to other subjects of basic knowledge, Tsukikage is semi-intelligent in most of these fields. Tsukikage puts this knowledge to practice on the battle-field but does not boast and show off his intelligence elsewhere, unless it contributes to matters at hand.
Tsukikage holds different viewpoints for the Shinigami and Hollow parts of him as well as the others of this rank. Part of him envies Shinigami for their fighting skill and intelligence as well as the more human aspects of them. Another part of him envies Hollows for their complete disregard of human emotions in exchange for powers, yet does not fully respect them for their exchange of emotions for power, when they do not fully know how to put that knowledge to practice.
Tsukikage looks towards the war and battles as a game between two differing forces; good and evil. To him, the humans without any sense of Spiritual Pressure play the role of pawns, either powering up the Hollows or being used to defeat them. The people who have a specific goal in mind and work directly towards that goal without wavering off-course are the rooks. Those people who work directly for one goal, yet occasionally stray off-course, changing the game, yet still striving to protect one’s king are the rooks. The people who really have no set goal to reach a specific point and simply go along with the flow of events resemble the Bishops. And of course, the Kings and Queens represent the forces of good and evil, fighting each other and simply trying to stay alive without being destroyed by the other force.
History:
Tsukikage lived in the times of the Edo Period of Japan when his family along with the rest of the village was trying to recover from times of extreme warfare, preceding the Edo Period. This was during the time when Samurai were educated in the arts and logical thinking more than simply just fighting. These were times of peace.
Tsukikage’s father was a samurai who had fought in these wars and witnessed the carnage of the world, holding many physical and emotional scars. Tsukikage’s father chose to keep this a secret from his son, and chose to let him believe in a fairy tale world, filled with peace. So, Tsukikage grew up to believe in happiness and peace with no thoughts of sadness and war.
Tsukikage’s father taught him how to fight and the art of the sword. This made him believe in the Samurai’s Code of Honor, yet due to the age of reason, Tsukikage questioned the world, wondering things like “if all there is, is peace, then how come we need to know how to fight?” Tsukikage continued to ask his father these questions but his father simply ignored his son’s questions and often abused him, telling him to just go along with what he was told. So Tsukikage did not question the world that he lived in, and chose to accept a lie, yet part of him still wanted to know what the truth was.
One day, the village was burnt to the ground, due to raids from an opposing village from the war and Tsukikage was left mortally wounded. Tsukikage wandered the village to find that he was the last living person in the village. He knew that the world of peace was too good to be true. He aimlessly wandered looking for the truth. He found his father, lying dead in his house, his sword at his side. A box sat in the corner, partially on fire and Tsukikage opened it, finding stories of his father’s experiences in the war. For the first time, he saw his father in a new light, to him he resembled a monster. Tsukikage approached his dead father and saw strange writing on his arm. In fairy tales, Tsukikage’s father had told him that the world was created by Izanagi and Izanami, yet due to the times of reason, his father had learned that the most likely reason the world was created was due to years of meteors rapidly colliding to form a massive ball of energy in space. On Tsukikage’s father’s arm were the words “The world began in fire, and so it will end.” Tsukikage’s father took one more breath, clinging to the small bit of life that he had left before Tsukikage killed him.
Tsukikage wandered into the forests, sitting underneath a tree where he closed his eyes and slowly died.
Tsukikage expected for that to be it for him, until he awoke in a strange place. Reason had said that once people died they simply decayed, yet he found himself in a whole new world. Tsukikage wandered the city, searching for an explanation of where he was and what had happened to him. He felt like he had been in a dream, but he didn’t know which part of it was the dream. His life or arriving here, they both felt so real. Tsukikage wandered into a small hut, where he found an old man, sitting in the center of the room.
“Excuse me, sir. Would you mind telling me where I am?”
The man turned towards him, grinning with narrowed eyes, “This is Soul Society. It is where lost souls go after death, if they don’t become Hollows that is.”
Tsukikage faced the old man, confused, “Soul…Society?”
In an instant, the door burst open, a man wearing a brown kimono stepping in.
“Whaddya’ doin’ here!?”
Tsukikage looked around the room, when the man shouted out, “Yeah, I’m talking to you! You stuck-up Shinigami have no right to be here!”
“Shinigami?” Tsukikage remembered the word from some books that he had studied and figured that they were just some kind of myth.
“Yeah, Shi-Ni-Ga-Mi, I’d recognize you guys anywhere, wandering around here with those black kimonos, those Zanpakuto at your side. Why don’t you do yourself a favor and leave?” The man tightened his fists at his waist. “Or, I’ll just have to make you leave!”
This was the first time Tsukikage noticed it, he was wearing a black kimono and had a strange sword hoisted at his waist. He stood there silently, staring at the ground.
“Hey! Do you hear me!?” The man charged towards Tsukikage, with his fist in the air and was down to the ground in a second, Tsukikage standing over him, bending his arm backwards. It wasn’t long before the hut curtains flew open and a Shinigami, wearing a Captain’s Uniform. Seeing the Shinigami, with the man held down to the ground interested him.
“I see, you must be new here. Please, come with me.”
Tsukikage immediately stood off of the man’s back and followed the Shinigami out of the curtains and
The man explained several things about Shinigami, Zanpakuto, Soul Society, and Captains before they arrived at their destination, the Shinigami Academy. The man lead him into the school and signed him up.
“By the way, my name is Kenpachi, the 11th Division’s Captain. I hope to fight you someday.”
The man turned and left the academy, leaving Tsukikage alone.
Tsukikage acceled at all points in the Academy, greatly admired by his teachers due to the amount of intelligence that he had. However, Tsukikage was weaker than most of the other students at the academy and usually separated himself from the others. One day, Tsukikage, and four other students were sent to Karakura Town to destroy a couple of Hollows. Immediately upon arrival, Tsukikage ran off and separated from the group. Upon running through the city he encountered two powerful Hollows and attempted to destroy them by himself. He managed to destroy the first one, which was not particularly powerful, but the other one was much tougher than expected. Tsukikage’s left shoulder was sliced open and he had no alternative besides to release his Shikai. After, releasing the Shikai he destroyed the Hollow but four more Hollows arrived in the city and Tsukikage passed out in the middle of the road.
Tsukikage woke up in the Academy, facing his teacher who scolded him on separating himself from the others, however, admitted that she was surprised that he was able to release Shikai at his level. She told him that he would not get anywhere unless he learned to trust other people.
Eventually, Tsukikage graduated from the academy and was placed as the fifth seat in the 11th Division. Tsukikage remembered his Captain’s words, and strived to get the chance to defeat the Captain and tried several times in the forests of Rukongai, failing one time after another to his Captain.
“Unless you learn Bankai, you won’t ever be able to defeat me.”
Tsukikage trained to become stronger from then on, quickly proving to become strong enough to become the new Vice-Captain. No matter how hard, Tsukikage trained he could never beat his Captain and constantly remembered Kenpachi’s words, trying to learn Bankai.
Tsukikage came face to face with his Captain in the middle of the forest, staring each other down.
“Mark my words, I will master Bankai. And when I do, I will defeat you.”
The two fought for days against each other as the fight constantly took its toll on both of the fighters, pushing Tsukikage to the edge. He had already mastered the Bankai procedure; however, his Zanpakuto’s spirit had told him that he would only reveal himself once he knew that Tsukikage was ready.
On the fourth day of fighting, the two found themselves exhausted beyond belief as Tsukikage felt a dark force and desire to overcome his Captain.
"Please, I need your power. I’m ready,” Tsukikage lunged forward, swinging the chains in the air. “Ban-Kai!” The chains flashed in the air and then… nothing.
Tsukikage was thrown down to the ground, his Zanpakuto laying sealed at his side. He couldn’t believe it, he had lost again. Zanpakuto found himself drifting in a sea of darkness, several hands made of black shadows reaching up towards him and grabbing him, he felt himself being suffocated and being pulled down to the darkness when he woke up. His eyes were pitch-black and he had yellow irises. Some dark transformation had occurred within Tsukikage’s heart.
“I… couldn’t beat him.”
Tsukikage stood to his feet and began walking away from Soul Society. “I’ll find a way to obtain Bankai and then I will return. This time, when I win, I’ll destroy you.”
Tsukikage wandered the world, accepted absolutely nowhere. Every night these sickening nightmares grew stronger and so did he until the transformation occurred and he found himself, standing in the darkness, a mask over his face.
“B-A-N-K-A-I”
An explosion of darkness filled the air and he emerged, completely cloaked in shadows as everything went black. Tsukikage awoke the next morning, debris lying around, showing signs of a battle that had occurred as a group of masked Shinigami stood over him, just like him. They explained his powers to him; there he chose to join the Council, forgetting about defeating his captain and choosing to remain who he was, exiled from society.

Zanpakuto
General
Name: Shikei (Death Penalty)
Spirit Description: Shiki appears as a man without any arms and legs. He is wearing a dark black robe and has several black chains piercing through his body, attaching him to four tall pillars.
Sealed: The sealed form of the Zanpakuto is a katana with a black hilt
Shikai
Activation Phrase: Show them no mercy, Shikei
Appearance: The Zanpakuto transforms into two shackles on Tsukikage's wrists with chains connected to them and two large swords, one white, and one black connected to the tips of them..
Abilities:
Darkness can not exist without light and light cannot exist without darkness. This is the power of the Zanpakuto; the power of mediation between light and darkness.
These chains have control over light and darkness. The chain on the left can manipulate basic light, such as inducing blinding light and the chain on the right can manipulate basic shadows, such as making blasts of shadows.
Bankai
Activation Phrase: Bankai
Appearance: The daggers on the ends of both chains transform into 5 foot long broadswords with the chains still shackled to the user's wrists, no longer infused with light and darkness. The Zanpakuto's Bankai form differs depending on the form, Tsukikage Kane takes. If he is in his normal form, the light overpowers the darkness, pushing the shadows away from the light, creating an enormous shadow on the ground, and emitting a blinding light from the user in the form of white aura. If the user is in his Hollow Mask form, the darkness overpowers the light as the shadows wrap around the user, cloaking them in completely pitch-black shadows, a faint light shining through the darkness on his chest, similar to the image below.
Abilities:
1. (Light Form) the light shines brightly, composing several chains made strictly out of light that glow bright white and shine like the sun's rays. These chains burn just like the other chains and are enough to burn the opponent's skin off of their bones. There are several of these chains but each of them dissipates into pure light after two hits. The estimated amount of chains at its maximum power is about fourteen. This form is canceled out once the chains have been broken. These chains can also be used to bind the opponent but they break very quickly when being used to bind up the opponent. The chains can easily burn the skin off of someone on a weaker level than that of Tsukikage's but if matched up to someone of equal strength the chains would produce severe burns, followed by the melting of the skin after prolonged contact with the skin but minor contact would only create a quick and somewhat severe burn. Compared to someone of much more power than Tsukikage (such as a Lieutenant against a Captain), prolonged contact with the chains would produce severe burns while simply quickly coming into contact with the skin would not be anything more than minor burns.
2. (Darkness Form) the light shines just as brightly but is soon cut out by the shadows of the chains that have lengthened out and formed into several chains of shadows that lash out in all directions and are able to sink into the ground before rising up and attempting to pull the user into the shadows on the ground. This power lasts untill every chain is broken but is also greatly weakened in power once the Hollow Mask is broken and is forced to fight back the light. With the Hollow Mask up to twenty chains can be created, without the mask only ten chains can be created. The power of these chains differs depending on whether or not the Hollow Mask is activated. When the Hollow Mask is activated it would be slightly difficult to someone of much higher strength than Tsukikage's current form to resist the chains. On the same level it would be moderately difficult, while on lower level it would be extremely hard, especially without causing injury. These chains can also be used as basic weapons but this is a much less effective use of the dark form of the Bankai.
Inner Hollow
Description: Tsukikage's Inner Hollow is a pure white being similar to the original Tsukikage with black eyes and yellow irises. The mask is a plain white mask with two thin eye holes and one black line running through the left eye with four small spikes, two coming out of each side of the mask's chin.

Tsukikage overlooked the busy streets, from the windowsill of a tall building. Remembering this world where he had lost the one person that mattered to him. A wave of nostalgia struck over him and Tsukikage found his eyes slowly slip closed and he remembered his llife so long ago before then.
The buildings began to tremble, pulling Tsukikage out of his entranced state. The peaceful nostalgic wave tore itself apart, with the terrible memories of those sickening Hollows.
"Damn it, they're here."
A tremendous black portal tore itself apart, a tremendous Hollow acompanied by several smaller Hollows, poured through as the humans below stumbled upon the quaking ground, running like ants to avoid being crushed by something outside of the realm of reality for them.
"There's no time for recollection."
A strange feeling overcame Tsukikage as if his own voice were echoing back towards him from the depths of his mind. Within an instant he found himself floating in a sea of dark clouds, facing a mirror image of himself, dark and twisted from the dark thoughts that had overcome Tsukikage's mind.
"Those memories are better left forgotten. Why don't you just turn it all over to me?"
"I don't trust anyone, what makes you think that I would trust you?"
"That's your problem, you don't even trust yourself."
"You're not me, merely an imitation forged from the retribution in atonement for my sins."
"Call it what you want, retribution, atonement, I call it power."
These words flowed from each person's mouth as if it were in one word and one voice, with Tsukikage's thoughts colliding with each other, two differing opinions from one mind. Tsuikikage began to doubt that they were actually even two people. The clouds thickened over the surrounding area as a cold wind surrounded, the Hollows storming towards the city.
"I understand."
Tsukikage held his left hand to his face, small white dust forming around him as the Hollows made their way closer, storming the city in a stampede of darkness as a twisted voice echoed through the city.

"C-e-r-o"
Tsukikage floated in the sky in the midst of the smoke, produced by the impact f the Cero that had blown all of the Hollows away. A strong blast of wind emerged from the smoke, as the gigantic Hollow moved through the smoke, continuing towards the village.
Tsukikage disappeared in a flash and the Hollow burst into nothingness, leaving Tsukikage standing atop a near-by building, looking down on the humans who looked out into the city. Tsukikage's Hollow mask was in his hand as it faded away into nothingness, leaving him standing alone over the city.

"It's funny. They put their lives in the hand of a force that they can't even see. I could have just let them die.
Tsukikage laid down on top of the building, closing his eyes.
Ah well, back to sleep.
