An exciting tale of trial, hardship, love and dreams.
Updated Daily.
------------
Chapter 1 - And There was Fred Once there was a Gerbil. His name was Fred. Fred longed to be a Condor, but he could not for as you may remember he was a Gerbil (in this world we capitalize the species of animals when speaking of them). So Fred came up with a plan, he would build himself wings and come as close to being his dream as he could be. He looked around but realized once more, he was a Gerbil, all he had to work with was a spinney wheel, a water bottle, some food pellets and a whole lot of shredded cage flooring. Little did his keepers realize Freds will, little did they realize they had been instrumental in their own demise, little did they realize just what lengths their Gerbil slave would go to attain what was rightfully his. And so, work began.

Chapter 2 – Ascension of a Rodentia Yes there was much work to be done and Fred was ready to see to it. Now one might be forgiven for thinking these were but the ruminations of a feeble mind, one long locked up in a cage that shattered desires, for as you may recall Fred was a Gerbil and Gerbils are not known for being seekers of growth. But such thinking would be to do Fred injustice for Fred was a visionary. From the strongest of his spinney wheel struts did he fashion scaffolding and frame, from shredded flooring did he string the tautest of a span and from water and chewed food pellets did he craft the glue. When finished he looked upon his completed masterpiece and knew, it was good. In one nights time did he do these things and then with utter conviction bash his little Gerbil head against the poorly made plastic door which held him in this hell...when that did not work Fred remembered he was a very smart Gerbil and utilized some unused portions of spinney wheel to pick the lock. His journey had begun.

Chapter 3 – The Heights to Which we Tread And so did Fred (who was a Gerbil as you may still have on mind) flee his cage of a thousand chains that night and with him did he take his grand work. He dragged it through the dark monolithic realm of man and into the vast scope of nature, but despite his amazement at such sights he did not stop for he had loftier goals. He viewed his surroundings with one thought in mind, to find the highest terrace from which to fly and after some time he did just that. A mighty outcropping atop an even mightier structure, this would be his birth anew, his birth upon the wings of fate. And so for one last time did Fred pull his great works behind him, one last time did he have his feet planted firmly on the ground, and one last time did he think of these things as burdens. For as he took a step off the vast ledge with his wings of power attached firmly to his back, little could he guess how quickly those things that were once burdens, might become luxuries.

Chapter 4 – Wings of the Gods And he was off! Into the great sky that glowed purple with morning fog, his grand works toiling away as they were meant to. As it turned out Fred was quite the aviation expert...for a Gerbil at least. Soon he was flying over all of the creation, the world there to make his own, and he did so. He flew, he saw the great many sights the world had to offer, every one more awe inspiring and unfathomable than the last. All at once he knew he had made the right decision, the reality was better than his dreams could ever have made it, how wondrous the world was! It was as he was witnessing one such wonder that he heard a mighty call from his side and he turned to survey a great winged beast, headed straight for him.
-End Chapter 4- Is this new appearance a friend or foe? What could it be? Find out tomorrow as we continue on Freds grand odyssey[/b]

Chapter 5 – The Friendly Skies As it would turn out the great winged creature coming toward him was nothing less than a Condor itself. At first Fred did not know what to do, after all he was a Gerbil as you may yet remember and Condors quite enjoyed the taste of small creatures. But before Fred could decide what to do the Condor was upon him, and then, it spoke. It seemed that the Condors name was Joe and he had been looking for another Condor to spend time with, Condor's like company. As for how it could mistake Fred for a Condor, see you may be unaware but contrary to popular belief being scavengers does not in fact make Condor's intelligent, they also don't have particularly good vision, the only reason they survive in life is because the Earth's magnetic fields tell them where to get food...but that is a scientific tale for another time. For now Joe and Fred spoke as they flew through the skies, Joe told Fred many stories and while he wasn't particularly bright company Fred hung on every word...after all, until today he had been little more than a Gerbil stuck in a cage and everything Joe had to say was new to him. Soon they were best of friends.
-End Chapter 5- What will Fred learn from his new friend Joe? What adventures yet await? Once again, find out tomorrow[/b]

Chapter 6 – Way of the Warrior Joe went on to teach Fred a great many things, to take him under his wing so to speak, from Joe's point of view Fred was quite an inept Condor. After all while he certainly did not know this, Fred was still a Gerbil. Regardless he learned to hunt, and scavenge and do all sorts of Condor-ey things. Of course Fred would subtly throw his scavenged leftovers away while Joe wasn't looking out of revulsion but he didn't tell Joe this. It was perhaps this among a many great other things that began to teach Fred that perhaps there was more to being a Condor than just flying through the air, free as one could be. Still he had been allowed to see many things he never would have otherwise and was quite grateful to Joe. And then one day as they were soaring high in the sky, Fred noticed something scrambling on the ground below.

Chapter 7 – Mistaken Identity What Fred laid eyes upon was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. A being of such elegance and grace that it made the world tremble (though admittedly it was the first of his kind he had ever seen before, but men, even Gerbils, tend to get a bit to poetic for their own good when it comes to the opposite sex). Then he noticed that she was not alone, there were many beauties to choose from down in the jade green field above which he soared! His emotions surged, Joe had proven good company but Fred longed for intelligent conversation and to his surprise the thought of contact with those like him brought feelings to the surface he never knew existed. Without a moment to spare he angled himself downward toward the group below, he had to speak with them, to know them. But as he did so the many cute Gerbils on the field below pointed to the sky in horror and began running, taking whatever cover they could find. Why? Why did they flee he wondered, but before he could realize the answer he heard a familiar call from above.
- End Chapter 7- Will Fred come upon further revelations? What was the call that he heard? What will happen now? Find out next time[/b]

Chapter 8 – Cruel Reality The sound, it was Joe, he was coming this way? What was he doing? The horror dawned on Fred all to late as Joe grasped one of the beauties in his beak before throwing his head back several times and swallowing her whole. Fred yelled out at Joe to stop but Joe could not hear him as he was to consumed with his own base animal instincts. Fred tried to hurry toward the Gerbils, to help them get away, but as he approached they fled their hiding spots only to make easier targets for Joe. And thats when it dawned on Fred, they thought he was a Condor as well! They were frightened of him, running from him, they thought he would eat them as well. He panicked, he couldn't be the reason the only members of his species he had ever seen would die, what could he do? He had to think quick.
- End Chapter 8- Quickly Fred quickly! What will he do?! Find out next time[/b]
