Arrancar
Name: Sin
Gender: Male
Age: 9964: Human 25; Hollow 3,558; Arrancar 6,381.
Ranking: Dragon Emperor (Privarion Espada)
Number: 1000
Base Type: Common
Physical Description:
Sin’s draconic form is gigantic by any standards, dwarfing most if not all other spiritual beings he has encountered. His appearance is that of a mighty black dragon, almost identical to his form as a regular hollow, albeit much larger. A great reptilian body sporting titanic wings from the shoulders, covered in spines and spikes, Sin is by far one of the most physically imposing Arrancar to have ever lived. (Or unlived^^)
From head to tail, Sin is 127” (38.75m) long, stands 100” (30.6m) tall and when fully extended his wingspan reaches just over 148” (45.1m) His body is adorned with thick metallic black scales, many of which elongate into vicious black spines, forming bladed ridges along his back, shoulders, wings and tail. Massive talons jut from the point of his wings, backed by elongated blade-like bones on the reverse side of the large talons. Large bone spikes grow from his jaw, creating a jagged frill of sharp bone behind his head. Sin’s tail ends in sharp spines, and is the only unarmoured section on his entire body, to allow it maximum flexibility when being used as a weapon. His jaw is long and his teeth serrated and numerous, surrounding a wickedly forked tongue which flits in and out of his mouth at random intervals.
Sin’s body is usually hunched down and Sin generally walks on four legs, however he is fully capable of bipedal movement is he is required to use his arms in combat, using his wings and tail to balance any forward momentum and keep him upright. Unless they are in use, Sin’s wings are generally folded over themselves and lying across his back.
During his long existence Sin has encountered many battles, and the countless number of scars lining his body are testament to his warlike nature. Flecks of blood mark his body, though most of which belong to his prey and not to Sin himself. His claws especially are blackened by centuries of bloodstains, as is the area around his maw.
Sin’s mask fragment forms a long spiny ridge from his nose to behind his eyes, but unlike other Arrancar, his mask has been so often drenched in blood that it is no longer white, instead it is a dull red, and only in a very small number of places is the original bleached white of the bone even visible. His hole is located in his chest, as most hollows are (though his is much larger than normal, being around 30cm in diameter) and a single white scar is noticeable inside his hole. Around his neck also hangs a pendant, set into which is a large red gem, within which is trapped the skeletal corpse of an ancient man dressed in draconic armour inlaid with the Eye of Horus on its chest.
Personality
Sin retains much of his feral nature, he would be more content to hunt down and devour souls then he would to sit around a table discussing politics and strategy, however his sheer size means that often he is capable of bullying lesser hollows into following his will. Bullying, however, is not the only way he draws others to himself, many common hollows look up to him as a symbol of power for their own kind, an Arrancar who proves that Menos are not the only powerful hollows in Hueco Mundo, and even feral hollows can feel his presence and are drawn to follow him, in the hopes of making theirs a better lot, as even the most feral hollow has heard legends of the great dragon who lead a rebellion against Las Noches centuries before.
Sin, in a rather strange turn for a hollow, houses no particular distaste for other races, he has seen the rise and fall of human civilisations, the appearance of Soul Society, the dawn of the Quincy, the creation of the Bount, and witnessed most of the history of hollows. Despite his general lack of care for other races, he does house a particularly strong hatred for modern Egyptians (Descendants of the Rahapshet), and often will he stalk the skies over Cairo before swooping down and feasting upon those unlucky enough to be left in the streets at the time. It is a personal favourite pastime for Sin, and one that he continues as a stress reliever and a way to practice his skills.
Sin still sees himself as a god after his time in Egypt, a view which often has put him at blows with other Arrancar whose base form was more evolved than his own. He is ancient in every meaning of the word, and his incredible history often leads him to put himself a level above those around him as it is very rare that he meets anything of his age, and yet his confidence is backed up by his experienced. He has led countless armies into endless battles, and he brings this to the field with him whenever he is required to.
There are few things still living which can provoke him into action, everything he cared about in life died several millennia ago, his closest followers were killed during his rebellion in Hueco Mundo, and little else moves him like they did. He does, however, appreciate a class struggle, as it reminds him of his own failed struggles against the Menos, and throughout history he has appeared to secretly aid the lower classes in their struggles against the upper class. Despite the fact that he has often attempted to place himself at the top of the class structure in several societies over time, he always does so by aiding the lower class and being raised by others to this position, which, to him, is justification for his actions.
He is especially sympathetic to the cause of common hollows against the Menos class, and one of the few things that can move him to sudden action is seeing Menos attacking common hollows. Sin lost a lot of companions, and nearly lost his own life all for the unevolved hollows, and seeing all he fought for thrown back in his face causes him to be filled by rage, which he cannot overcome until the offender has been dealt with.
Apart from the abuse of common hollows, there are very few things which can cause Sin to rage, however when they do his control over his mind slips, and he reverts to his feral nature and cannot be controlled by anything, even if he had previously been tamed by the person trying to control him. In his feral state, he shuts off his telepathy and reverts to simply roaring and breathing fire at whatever set him off until it is dead. Without his sentient control, his incredibly large and powerful body has a tendency to lash out and decimate the surrounding terrain and often allies (especially any unfortunate soul using him as a mount at the time) often must quickly make themselves scarce, as he loses his ability to differentiate between friends or foes.
Despite his reasonable intelligence, Sin still retains the heart of a beast, and can be tamed by a show of immense strength or if a person proves they are fighting for a cause worth fighting for in his opinion. In this case, Sin has, throughout the ages, given himself as a mount to people who have proven worthy to do so, and he does own a saddle forged for him when he was lorded as a god in Egypt. He will not allow anyone of any race to ride him without this saddle, and even trying to often will end up in the upper half of the offender being removed from the lower half rather rapidly and painfully.
Sin’s view of himself is that he was first given, that of a god. He has outlived most if not all of the hollows born around his time, and despite his base form being the lowest possible for an Arrancar, he commands incredible power and is well aware of this fact. He also has spent a lot of his time around humans, who viewed him as a deity for much of his existence, thus causing him to be used to having legions of followers. He often uses his telepathy to manipulate lesser hollows into his service, for their own good and the good of their race of course.
Sin is also responsible for many of the myths behind dragons over the ages, though two in particular stand out from the pool. The first is a strange obsession with kidnapping women from small villages. Sin claims it as part of his bestial nature he cannot control, though in truth he hasn’t the faintest idea why he likes kidnapping young girls, it is simply something he does. His other obsession is easier for him to justify, as a Pharaoh, Sin had limitless access to treasures, gems, gold and anything else he wanted. Ever since he began wandering the world, he has hoarded treasure in caves, which is often where he is found by questing knight’s errant, who claim these treasure once he grow bored of fighting over them, thus the legend of treasure hoarding dragons is created and constantly lived through Sin’s actions.
History:
7948BC-Dawn of a New Era[/i]
For ten years prior to 7948, the Horusi (lit: Children of Horus) people of pre-Neolithic Egypt had struggled to survive through a series of famines, the sudden climate change which dried their ancestral home beyond habitable conditions, packs of voracious wild animals and war with neighbouring tribes. The Horusi civilisation was brought to its knees, its people being forced from their homes to wander what was quickly becoming a great desert. Eventually the high priest of Horus, High Dragon and King of the Gods, sacrificed twenty young women in the hope that their dragon god would save them. Five years after the ceremony (7948) a child was found with no parents, and on that day rains came which softened an area around where the Horusi were camping, allowing them to grow grains and other crops, and their proximity to the Nile enabled them to begin fishing and gathering reeds, and they soon discovered a small forest of trees nearby with sap that protected the wood painted with it from swelling in the water, and thus they were able to craft boats, and travel along the Nile in primitive canoes, gathering metals for war and gems for trade and decoration.
7938BC-First Horutian War
The boy who had been born was named Pharaos Horusiᵰ (lit: Divine Child of Horus, Pharaos=Divine Child, and later became used by the Ancient Egyptians as Pharaoh) and hailed as the ruler of his people as being the first in a line of descendants from the Dragon King himself. At the age of 10, Pharaos first encountered war as his Kingdom and its culture expanded throughout the region from middle to lower Egypt. Nearby civilisations, jealous of the incredible wealth and power of the Horusin, formed the Ahmatar (lit:Free Peoples) Alliance against the Pharanah Horusiᵰ (lit: Divine Kingdom of Horus), and numerous civilisations, wielding stone age technology, fought against the Horusi and their subservient states armed with iron weapons and naval supremacy.
Despite the massive difference in numbers (The Ahmatar are said to have outnumbered the Horusi forces by a 10:1 ratio) the advanced technology of the Horusi, combined with Pharaos’ own tactical ingenuity, quickly turned the tide against the Ahmatar, and within three years of all-out war, the Horusi had almost completely unified the middle and lower regions of Egypt under his control. The former Ahmatar civilisations were assimilated into the Pharanah Horusiᵰ, becoming Katashar (akin to the city-states of Greece, but all owing tribute to the Horusi) alongside the civilisations that had fought alongside the Horusi in the war, creating a sense of equality among the tributary nations under the Horusi rule. For three more years, Pharaos’ reign was marked with peace and prosperity, with even the most borderline tributary nations growing in power, and the population booming.
It soon became clear to the leaders of the Katashar that they would be required to expand into the northern area of Egypt if they were to support their ever growing population. Pharaos agreed, and at the age of 18 began to muster his forces for his second conflict.
7930-First Northern Campaign[/i]
The first war between the upper and lower kingdoms of Egypt was a short but bloody affair. Pharaos lead his armies forth, once more wielding a massive technological advantage, however the people of the north were not a loose congregation of angry tribes as he had fought in his first war, they were united under the Rahapshet (lit: Those who come from Ra the Great) Kingdom, and they knew the region they were fighting in. Using guerrilla tactics unlike anything Pharaos had encountered before, they managed to inflict crippling blows to the Horutian forces supply, forcing Pharaos to return to the southern regions. However, as they returned to the south, they were assaulted by the full force of the Rahapshet, who matched the Horusi technology with magical powers (unbeknownst to any at the time, the Great Temple of Ra was built atop of a permanent gate to Hueco Mundo, infusing the priests of Ra with reiatsu based powers that formed the basis of their religion) and in the ensuing battle, both sides suffered unimaginable casualties, the total count of deaths numbering in the tens of thousands.
A stalemate was reached, and Pharaos met with the High King of the Rahapshet and a truce was agreed upon, preventing either kingdom from engaging in war with the other for two years, and thus after only six months of conflict, the north and south of Egypt forged a shaky alliance between them to ensure they would have time to rebuild their civilisations. And rebuild they did, massive funds were dedicated to the development of newer and more powerful technology, and analysis of the Rahapshet combat doctrine, when the two years finally came to an end, Pharaos had mustered a force with technology that would not be matched for countless millennia. The greatest of all of these advancements was the use of steam as a source of power, with it he was able to create primitive cannons, chariots that pulled themselves, handheld weapons which fired jets of steam and seared the flesh of those caught in them, the entire Horutian society had changed from being a hunter-gatherer society focused on the good of the people to a society focused almost entirely on war. The fruits of these efforts, however, were about to pay off for Pharaos and his people.
7928BC-The Second Northern Campaign[/i]
With his army now returned to full strength, and his technology unmatched in the pre-Neolithic world, Pharaos marched north to meet the Rahapshet on the field of battle once more. The Rahapshet’s guerrilla tactics were countered and their attempts to sever the Horutian supply lines were thwarted, Pharaos had learned from his previous war how his enemy had fought, and out manoeuvred them at every turn. Rahapshetian casualties climbed ever higher as their every attempt to claim the upper-hand was crushed and their forces decimated. After two years of ferocious combat across the northern region, the High King, who had been attempting to avoid a repeat of the previous war by destroying both armies in a final confrontation, realised he had little other choice when the Horusi marched towards his capital. Calling together every force he could muster, the High King himself marched with his troops into battle for the first time, and upon hearing this Pharaos himself decided to march with his men to meet his rival head on in combat. Both had their greatest generals dress in their clothes and dressed themselves and their personal guards as units of regular soldiers, and it was only by chance the two kings met on the field of battle.
However, once they had met, everyone present knew who was fighting. The battle between the two kings lasted for three days without ceasing, neither man willing to give the other any opportunity. The High King of Ra was by far the most powerful spiritually aware human of the time, (A high level Class 2 in modern terms,) but his power to call on the purifying winds of Ra was matched at every step by Pharaos’ technological might, and his own physical prowess as the son of a god prevented the High King from pushing him back. On the third day, the battle finally concluded. His steam-powered armour destroyed, Pharaos had taken several serious blows and was barely able to walk from pain and exhaustion, but he had managed to drive his spear through the throat of the High King.
Seeing their king dead, the Rahapshet army turned to flee, suffering uncounted losses as the Horusi capitalised on their opponent’s moment of weakness and cut them down. The war had been won, but at a terrible cost, the Pharanah Horusiᵰ had lost over half of its total male population, and the Rahapshet civilisation lost nearly seventy percent of its entire population as a result of the war. To ensure the survival of his own people, upon his recovery Pharaos instated the law of Ramiti, in which anyone descended from the Rahapshet was forced into serfdom, creating a lower class which served the original members of the Horusi Kingdom, and eventually the Horusi rebuilt themselves.
7924BC-The Second Horutian War[/i]
During the past twelve years Pharaos had sired twenty five children, all of pure Horusi blood, who would be lorded as princes and descendants from Horus as Pharaos himself was. Unbeknownst to Pharaos however, the High King of the Rahapshet had five sons of his own, who had been sent overseas to find allies for their war against the Horusi. It was in 7924 that three of these sons returned with great armies of barbarians from distant lands. Clad in thick furs and painted in the blood of ferocious animals, this army arrived as the Horusi were still rebuilding their society from their war with the Rahapshet. When the three princes realised their father had been killed and their people enslaved, they marched at the head of the great barbarian hoard and caught the Horusi completely by surprise, destroying the Horusi influence and power in the north, and forcing Pharaos’ beleaguered forces to retreat south to their original homelands to plan a counter-attack. Pharaos lost ten children (four sons and six daughters) in the invasion of the north, and sent his four youngest sons and his eldest daughter, along with much of the information that had been used to forge the Horusi technological supremacy, away with a fleet of settlers to found a new Horusi city which would act as a safeguard against the barbarians. With the last of his sons, Horusi gathered his forces and marched on the barbarians to fight what would be the greatest battle to take place in the world for thousands of years to come. The barbarians had liberated the Rahapshet slaves, and even captured some of the iron weapons used to cement the Horusi supremacy. Outnumbered 20:1, and with their opponents having captured much of their technology, the Horutian armies were destroyed, and in the winter of 7923 Pharaos and his two surviving sons met with their demise as the Rahapshet and their barbarian allies destroyed the Horusi capital and restored Rahapshet power in the north and extended it into middle Egypt, however the southern regions maintained their independence, and through them small parts of the Horutian legacy remained, though much of their technology was lost to Egypt forever, and the captured warmachines only lasted so long before they collapsed on themselves, and without the knowledge to rebuild them, this technology was, for the most part, lost forever.
To cement their victory, however, the Rahapshet did not remove the Horusi from history. A new god was added to their pantheon, Horus, who became part bird part human (as birds retained the flight of dragons, but none of the power, and humans are flawed, as Horus was according to the Rahapshet), and subservient to Ra. Through this, the people would always remember that the Rahapshet had won against the Horusi, and whatever remained of the Horutian belong to the Rahapshet now.
In the south, however, a new state was formed, Pharaoh, in honour of the divine child who had lead them to fleeting glory in but a single lifetime, and they would never forget what they had once had. It took several years, but the Pharaoans were finally able to recover the body of their great Pharaos, using some of the lost technology of the Horusi to seal his body within a tomb of blood ruby, placing it next to the statue of Horus in the Temple of the Dragons, symbolic of his lineage and importance to them.
7923BC-The Birth of a New God[/i]
Pharaos himself did not end with his death, for his rage knew no bounds as the Rahapshet took everything he had worked to build from him, and this rage kept his spirit bound to the world, and his hatred gave the power to take a new form. His spirit shifted and changed form over many days, but on the fifth day after his death his transformation was complete. He had taken the form of his God-Father, and had become a great black dragon. His entire being was possessed by hatred and hunger, and as he realised what he had become, he took flight, drawn towards the High Temple of the Rahapshet, where many smaller beasts were battling each other over the souls of those who had died, and each other. For an age, Pharaos feasted on the souls that escaped through the gargantua, and those drawn towards it, no longer knowing who he was he stopped caring for the world around him as he was content to relax and devour the weaker hollows who surrounded him.
7349BC-The Dragon Returns[/i]
Eventually, Pharaos regained some small measure of his memory after the ages of feasting, and he moved to the south, where the descendents of his people were fighting a losing war against a local civilisation (Rahma) that had descended from the Rahapshet Empire (which had collapsed in 7411BC when several princes set the Empire at war with itself, and split the Empire into three separate states, whose power fell dramatically, and other civilisations began to spring from their ruin). Realising who the Pharaoans were, Pharaos attacked the human armies as they marched towards Pharaoh, tearing huge swathes through their ranks. The Rahmin troops were not spiritually aware like their Rahapshet ancestors, and could not see what was besetting them, and believed the body of Pharaos kept in the Temple of Dragons had used his magical powers to defend his home, a belief which was caught onto and believed by the Pharaoans themselves. Pharaos remained living atop the Temple of Dragons for a century, defending his people from any force which attempted to assail them, and using the souls of his enemies to sustain himself. In secret he would remain the silent guardian of his people, until 100 years of proximity to such a powerful hollow began to have a profound effect on the Pharaoans.
7250BC-The Dragon Pharaoh[/i]
Being flooded with reiatsu from the presence of Pharaos, the entire Pharaoan society (which was only a single city, they had tried several times, but never been able to recapture the lands that were lost to their ancestors) developed reiatsu awareness, and began to notice the presence of Pharaos himself atop their temple. High Priests searched records from the Horusi about the pantheon of the Dragon-Gods, and there was no record of a masked black dragon. The priests declared it to be a new god, but one bound to the Earth, instead of the Heavens, naming it Sin. (lit: Earthly Dragon or Young Dragon in Pharaonian) Within days, it was decided that their king, Pharaos, had not died, but ascended to Godhood with his father Horus, but returned to Earth to watch over his people. Thus was Pharaos renamed as Sin, and as he spent more time with the Pharonians, he developed telepathic abilities, with which he was able to converse to certain individuals who were able to hear him. (At this stage, his telepathy was in its infancy, and thus it was not incredibly potent, only a select number of people known as the Sinri (lit: Sin’s Voice) were able to speak with Sin.) With this, Sin was declared Pharaoh, and made to be a God among his mortal servants, and as he spent increasing amounts of time around humans, he developed human traits, being able to resist his bestial nature and rule his subjects without succumbing to his hunger.
6571BC-The Cult of Sin[/i]
Over the next 8 centuries, Pharoan society thrived and expanded. Sin commanded his followers to capture slaves from nearby cities to feed his hunger, and that they did, developing a large slave trade and building a society based on inhuman rituals, especially the sacrifice of captured maidens to Sin, who had developed a taste for virgin spirits. The Cult of Sin spread through Egypt, and while Pharaoh was not the centre of power in Egypt, the Horutian religion spread like wildfire, making Pharaoh the religious capital of Egypt. As time went on, surrounding countries encountered migrants from Egypt who spread the Cult of Sin across much of the Middle-East, and many young civilisations sent their royalty on pilgrimages to the Temple of the Dragons in Pharaoh.
Content with the adoration and religious power he had accumulated, Sin did not try to conquer Egypt again, his arch-enemies, the Rahapshet, had fallen, and their descendents were, for the most part, followers of his own religion. He had spread the power of the Horusi further then he could have ever dreamed in life, and engaged in hunting down evil spirits that plagued the area. Soon the once permanent gargantua in northern Egypt was forced shut from the inside as other sentient hollows realised that Egypt was not going to serve as a safe feeding ground for hollows, and with random deaths and disappearances almost eliminated as the hollows fled the Middle East, the Cult of Sin gained an even stronger hold on the region.
Soon, developing civilisations were sending families to live in the Temple of Dragons for long periods of time to develop the ability to see ‘demons’ (hollows), and most civilisations joined in the foundation of the Pharaonic Order, humans who could see hollows aiding Sin in his quest to remove their taint from the world. In the year 6314BC, the Pharaonic Orders from all over the Middle East met in Pharaoh to discuss tactics and the goings on of demon activity in their respective civilisations. Pharaonian became the Lingua Franca of many civilisations, especially among religious officials. Translations of works writing by the original Sinri were combined with translations from the original writings of Horutian High Priests (though Horutian had been a dead language in the Middle East for centuries, and the translations were often made up or very poorly done with what little knowledge of Horutian remained) and formed the Dragon Scriptures, the Cult of Sin’s equivalent to the modern bible.
With this, Sin’s power over the humans grew immensely, until the arrival of a familiar foe caused a sudden upheavel in Egypt at the dawn of the Neolithic Era.
6031BC-Return of Ra[/i]
When three of the five princes of Rahapshet returned, it was simply assumed by the princes that their two eldest brothers had failed in their quest and died. This was not the case at all. Raman and Rakarr had instead taken their spiritual awareness and the powers it had given them to build new mystical societies, venerating Ra and the Rahapshetian pantheon (though Horus was not included in this version of the Rahapshetian religion as Raman and Rakarr were not present for the conquering of the Horutian Kingdom.) Over time, their descendents had inherited and mastered their ancestors spiritual manipulation of water and fire, and trained an elite class of soldiers to use these powers in order to found the twin kingdoms of Ramanha and Rakarha on the coast of what is now modern China.
Their envoys arrived in Egypt in early 6031, and recorded much of the state of Egypt, returning to Ramanha and Rakarha in 6027 with news of the rise of the Dragon Cult and the power of the descendents of their Horutian foes. Enraged, the kings of Ramanha and Rakarha mustered their armies and set out to cross into Egypt once more, leaving nothing but empty cities and countless legends behind in China as they moved their entire civilisations to Egypt to wage and unending war to reclaim what was rightfully theirs.
With the exception of the Pharaonic Order, the Middle East had been surprisingly free from war, the religious joining of the entire region under a God that walked among his followers meant that they were unready for a sudden invasion. The Pharonic Order, measuring 10,000 in total across the entire middle east, gathered together to fight alongside their God to defend their homes from these foreign invaders. The people believed this would be a battle of legends, the Pharonic Order moving out and crushing the heathens with ease alongside their God, what followed was instead a massacre. Sin destroyed everything that got in his way, but even he could only do so much to aid his followers, and the spiritual prowess of his enemies quickly turned the tide against Sin and his followers, and within a month the entire Pharonic Order was wiped out to a man. With the main religious force in the area defeated, Egypt lost its religious control over the distant civilisations in the rest of the Middle East, and thus lost its main hope for allies in the war against the followers of Ra.
Eventually the Ramanha and Rakarha did what their ancestors had never been able to do. Their armies pushed through the whole of Egypt, subduing Pharaoh and dividing the nation between the two kingdoms, thus Ramanha became the Northern Kingdom of Egypt, and Rakarha became the Southern Kingdom of Egypt. For a few centuries, Sin remained in Egypt, attacking these kingdoms until they eventually went to war with one another in 5798BC, wiping the slate clean for the rebuilding of Egypt. With this, Sin no longer had any reason to remain in Egypt, his people were wiped out and his enemies had wiped each other out for him, thus he went searching, travelling across the world in search of fun, battling and devouring hollows for countless centuries until he discovered a truth about himself that would forever change who and what he was.
4390BC-A Hollow God[/i]
For ages Sin had been travelling, devouring hollows and humans alike, until suddenly he decided to watch a group of hollows instead of devouring them instantly. Watching their actions, and noticing their visual traits, he realised that they were the same as him, or more rightly he was the same as them, and the mask he wore was proof of that. In an effort to free himself from what the others beasts he saw were, he took to his mask with his great talons and tore it from his face, and in doing so unleashed a power unlike anything he could ever have imagined. He had, in his despair, unknowingly gone through shinigamification, and the incredible power new power coursing through his gigantic body was testament to this. While it would be many years before he knew he was an Arrancar, to him, the removal of his mask symbolised his ascent to true Godhood, as he had discarded the mask which linked him to the demons he had hunted so fiercely throughout his life.
He returned to the site of the city of Pharaoh, and sifted through the ruins of the Temple of Dragons which, much to his delight, still acted as a tomb for his human body, encased in ruby as it was it had been too solid for the Rakarha to destroy, and too heavy for them to move, so they simply collapsed the temple around it in the hopes no one would uncover it until they could reclaim it, however their civilisation did not last long enough to claim that honour. Instead, Sin painstakingly took all the metals he could find, and unleashing jets of flame he melted them together to craft a chain, to which his ruby tomb was attached, allowing him to wear it around his neck at all times. Within years, he had learned to make full use of his shinigamification and caused his powers to manifest themselves as the mark of his father, the Eye of Horus, which appeared inlaid on the chestplate worn by his corpse.
With his new powers, he was able to return to a humanoid form, albeit an undead sand Pharaoh one, which prevented him from functioning in normal society, but he was fine with that, he had better things to do. In his travels, he had learned that his descendents had survived the journey he had sent them on, and that a Horusi colony had indeed been founded. Intent on finding this lost dynasty, Sin set out, only to be trapped in Hueco Mundo without the knowledge on how to leave, it was here he would begin to make a name for himself among the hollows, as both a fearsome beast and a loyal companion.
4227BC-A God in Hell[/i]
At first, Hueco Mundo was not the place to be for Sin. He previously believed he had escaped from the masked demons, but here he was surrounded by them, and for some reason many of them sought to attack him. This was in vain, as he outclassed every hollow he came up against with his Arrancar power, and eventually realised he could use his telepathy to control some of the smaller demons, his kingdom on Earth had been destroyed, but who said he couldn’t start again in hell after all. He ordered the construction of the Tower of Horus, at the time the largest structure in Hueco Mundo, built large enough that Sin could enter and exit regardless of which form he was in. From this seat of power, he drew in countless hollows who were attracted to his power, and formed one of the early ruling bodies in Hueco Mundo. Five hollows of exceptional power he taught to remove their masks, creating his five Dragon Generals, and in doing so they became six of the most powerful beings in Hueco Mundo at the time, armed with their powerful resurrecctions and natural strength, they brought whole regions of Hueco Mundo under their control, and such was their power that for one and a half thousand years they went almost unchallenged, with the few hollows rising to be powerful enough to challenge them being no match for the five Dragon Generals, let alone Sin himself.
However, after his time in Hueco Mundo, he remembered his goal of finding his descendents and, with his new knowledge of his powers, tore open a gargantua and returned to the world of the living, in search of his last remaining descendents.
7898BC-Hazui, The Children of the Gods[/i]
Far away from their home in Egypt, the last surviving children of Pharaos had found an island unlike any they had known, filled with luscious jungles and home to primitive tribes. Using technology given to them by their father, the settlers manage to subjugate the local populace and create an island home where the Horusi culture could thrive. A messenger was sent back to Egypt to inform their father of the new stronghold, but the messenger returned with news that the Horusi had been wiped out. Thus, the island nation of Hazui (the intermingling of the native tongue and the Horutian language created a new language with sounds and meanings that were not possible in the original Horutian. Hazui was how the natives pronounced Horusi, and within ten years became the standard spoken/written form, however the royal family retained traditional Horutian language as the language of official documents.)
Hazui (originally located off the coast of mainland China, near Japan, hence the similarities between Hazui and Japanese pronunciation, both would have traded between each other and with China, creating a similar language structure between the three) prospered massively with its advanced technology, which was converted from tools of war to tools of agriculture to make life easier for the serfdom and lessen the likely hood of rebellion. The Imperial line of Hazui, however, was not as pure as the island in which it lived. Empress Feruke (Pharoki in Horutian) married her youngest brother, Emperor Kozore (Kosor) until he and his son were murdered by his brother, Arumasi (Ahmas) who forced his sister to remarry him. She bore him four children, two sons and two daughters, both born in sets of boy-girl twins. Intermittent fighting between the children reduced the effectiveness of the Imperial family, and within four generations much of the power lay in the hands of the chief advisor to the Imperial family, held by a man descended from mixed native and Horusi lineage at the time.
Kameni (Khamen) took control of Hazui in 7769BC, and not only lead the people to greater prosperity, but did so in a way that the Imperial family still appeared to retain its power, thus giving the people something to look up to. To prevent the Imperial family from gaining any outside influences and rising against him (the people still believed in the Imperial family, and if they turned on him the people would, and he likely would be executed) he ensured that intermarriage between siblings and cousins occurred, so that the Emperor and Empress were always pure-blooded and related directly to Pharaos himself. While to the Imperial family and its subjects, this seemed a logical choice to make to preserve their father’s lineage, in truth Kameni ensured that a special college was set up for teaching possible heirs to the throne, to ensure they would follow his and his family’s advice and that power would remain in Kameni’s descendents hands.
Unthreatened by neighbouring Japan and China, who were barely able to cross the seas at this time, and relied on Hazui to trade between each other and other nearby burgeoning powers, the Hazui formed a trade empire that would remain as such until well until the year 5,000BC. However, by 4877BC, China had begun to establish itself as a land based military power, and with a population well over four times that of Hazui, things looked grim when the Chinese began building long distance boats mimicking Hazui technology.
However, Kameni’s descendents had long since lost favour with the Imperial family (one Emperor refused to marry his sister as she was not beautiful enough for him, and had her, his advisor, and all of his family, executed because of it, thus ending the Kameni rule) and been replaced by advisors who were chosen by the current Emperor or Empress, on the condition that the previous advisor was of no relation, to prevent another Kameni situation. These new advisors rapidly changed the Imperial family, convincing them to marry outside of the Imperial family (though only into the Horusi born aristocracy) which added new genes to the Imperial pool, resulting in the birth of Feroshi the Ethereal, seventy second Empress of Hazui, and unmatched tactician. She was also incredibly intelligent, and well versed in both traditional Horutian and modern Hazui. She translated Pharaos’ war manuals and studied them, and worked on rebuilding many of the warmachines her ancestor had designed, and set about improving them with more modern materials and knowledge. But by far, her greatest act was building a collapsible bridge across the seas into China. The bridge was wide enough for five hundred men to cross side-by-side, and stretched long enough to carry most of the Chinese army. Upon the completion of the bridge, the Chinese soldiers formed up and stormed across the bridge, but as they drew near Hazui, steam bombs lining the sides of the bridge went off, collapsing the bridge and destroying the first threat to Hazui since its founding. She is always remembered as the last great Empress of Hazui, as after her death the technology she had crafted was never again improved upon, Hazui society stagnated, and civil war between her two daughters and their descendents tore through the islands in the longest war in mankind’s history.
For one thousand years, the two houses of Feras and Hazaki split the island nation in two, with the descendents of each continuing their parents unrelenting war to be crowned the new Emperor/Empress of Hazui. This did irreparable damage to the Hazui, and the war only ended with the utter annihilation of the Feras house. The Hazaki Empress, Kovari, was tainted, like her country, by a millennium of war, and turned her attention to China. Little known to her, China had established itself as an incredibly powerful force, and when her armies marched into China, they were brutally massacred. Taking her own life in shame, the Hazaki house was forever shamed by this action, and the Imperial crown passed to a house which had been formed from the son of Feroshi, Feras. Feras had been incredibly weak and sick his entire life, and his house inherited from him famously short lifespans, a Feras house member was luck to reach 25, but they were the last left of direct lineage to Pharaos, and for the next six hundred years, they would rule peacefully, rebuilding diplomatic relationships with China, though unbeknownst to them an ancient force was watching as their short lives unfolded.
2659BC-Sin’s Descent[/i]
Sin returned to the human world he had left so long ago, finding it had changed dramatically. It took him five years, but eventually he was able to locate Hazui, and found it as a peaceful island who had done little to improve on the technology made in his time. Unimpressed though he was, however, Sin was aware that these were the last of his descendents, and almost begrudgingly, he took to a large cave in the southern half of the island of Hazui and watched over as they lived their lives. Occasional boarder disputes sparked with the long since established power of China, and the burgeoning power of Japan over the next century, both nations were aware of the rich metal reserves of the Hazui, but Sin constantly intervened, ensuring his people were protected to a degree, however he did not remain in close proximity to these people, he no longer wished to draw attention to himself here, and was content to act as a silent guardian.
For just over a thousand years, Sin continued this, living in his cave and occasionally flying over the island to ensure that foreign invaders were kept at bay. Unbeknownst to Sin however, a force had long since been rising around him, and he was soon to find out the full extent of what it was capable of. In Japan, the Emperor had decided that the resources of Hazui were going to be his, and the forces of Japan mustered, preparing for a full scale invasion of the island. The preparations took thirty years but finally, in 1535BC, the Japanese crossed the waters and entered Hazui, starting a bitter war that would forever scar the Asiatic region. The Hazui once more crafted their technological weapons, and set to war against their invaders, for their very existence depended on it.
1533BC- Retaliation[/i]
The Japanese had pushed the Hazui as far back as their capital on the far southern area of the island, but in doing so had stretched themselves too thin, and reinforcements for the allied Chinese Emperor arrived to aid the Hazui as they struck back at the Japanese, and in a three year campaign finally pushed them from the island, however the damage had been done and the Hazui were crippled by their casualties, and rebuilding was going to take time and effort that they didn’t have. Despite being pushed back, the Japanese were far from down and out, and were planning a retributive strike once the Chinese had pulled out. Knowing this, the Hazui sued for the Emperor of China to keep his forces there as long as he could, but the expenditure of resources in maintaining a force in Hazui was too great for China at the time, and they were forced to pull out in 1487 BC.
1487BC- The Fall of Hazui[/i]
The Japanese returned in force, and the Hazui had still not yet rebuilt all that was lost, but this time Sin moved to the field, tearing apart the Japanese boats before they reached Hazui. For a while, it seemed the Hazui would be saved, the Japanese were retreating, and a mysterious force had defended their island. In truth, the outlook was looking darker every day for the Hazui. Sin was confronted by a hollow that was ancient in every meaning of the term, and possessed a power unlike anything Sin had ever encountered. Wisher approached Sin and requested his aid, but Sin turned the offer down. He still had his followers in Hueco Mundo, and his duty at the moment was to watch over the people of Hazui. Wisher, in a truly hollow fashion, decided to remove Sin’s duty, thus to free him from his duties and allow them to join forces in the only way he could think. Moments later, a gigantic Cero of unheard of proportions ripped through Hazui, decimating the island and completely eradicating all traces of the island from existence in an instant.
Sin flew into a rage, turning on Wisher and attacking with all his might, but to no avail. A single blow from Wisher sent Sin crashing through the dimensional wall between the real world and back into Hueco Mundo, where he would not awake for another thousand years.
558BC-The Dragon Awakens Again[/i]
Awakening in Hueco Mundo, Sin quickly realised things had changed. His followers in Hueco Mundo were scattered, his Dragon Generals were beset on all sides, and his kingdom had been pushed in until it existed only around the Tower of Horus. Returning to his tower, Sin met with his Dragon Generals, who told him of the growing number of new hollows. Great towering demons who fired energy in powerful waves which tore through hollows like they were nothing, or smaller hollows with power vastly superior to that of Sin’s own followers. While they had existed previously, never had they reached the realm of the Dragon Emperor, and their numbers seemed limitless.
Menos, as they would later be known by, stormed through the defences set up by Sin, as the common hollows working under him were devoured and destroyed in the wake of this new force. At the head of this army stood a man, tall and proud, and yet obviously hollow, and it was a man that, reaching through his scattered memories, Sin remembered almost too easily. The High King of the Rahapshet had been reborn as a hollow, and having moved to a different area of Hueco Mundo, had spent the years since his death training, feeding, growing and evolving. He had become a Vasto Lorde, and leading an army of Adjuchas and Gillian class Menos into battle, he bore down upon the Tower of Horus. With the return of their Emperor, the common hollows mustered their forces and hurled themselves towards their opponents to little avail, and Sin and his generals were forced to flee the tower in order to escape the destructive force of the Menos army. For a century, they watched as the common hollows were forced into servitude, either being used as sport, labour or worst of all, food, for their Menos oppressors.
432BC-Insurrection[/i]
Sin and his generals had had enough, they had seen what these Menos were doing to their people, and having travelled far and wide, gathering hollows, especially large numbers of feral hollows from the wastelands of Hueco Mundo, they attacked in force against the Menos overlords. Seeing other weaker hollows fighting a winning battle against the Menos, and hearing rumours of the return of the dragons, some of the sentient common hollows gathered their less intelligent brethren around them and turned on the Menos, and in a two pronged assault, the Menos were caught by surprised and defeated, and their King, who called himself the Prophet of Ra (and who was working for the HV at the time) was forced into a final confrontation between Sin in his resurreccion form. The battle was intense, and in the area there are still folk tales among the sentient hollows there that tell of what happened on this fateful day.
In the battle that ensued, Sin’s powers as an Arrancar were matched by the Prophet’s powers as a Vasto Lorde, and for half a century, the two waged an unending battle for supremacy. This much, the folk tales have in common, however they deviate at this point. There are two main endings, one which believes Ra, angered at the Prophet’s failings, took his powers from him, and thus Sin gained the upper hand and defeated him. The other version states that Horus himself flew to the field, and the combined forces of Horus and Sin were able to overpower the Prophet and finally destroy him, with Horus leaving before anyone had a chance to speak with him. Both are purely speculative, the truth entails an intervention by a lost Shinigami, who would come to be one of Sin’s greatest allies in times to come.
380BC-Alliance[/i]
Anar was the name of the Shinigami who happened upon this great battle between hollows of unimaginable power. He had, at one stage, been an incredibly powerful and influential Shinigami, however on an expedition into Hueco Mundo, his unit was butchered upon encountering a band of Adjuchas, and he was trapped in Hueco Mundo. Barely surviving, he noticed a giant tower in the distance, and as the only possible sign of civilisation in the entire dimension, he wandered towards that. It was here he came across the battle between the Prophet and Sin, and being an intelligent man, Anar noticed what was happening. The weaker hollows were joining together and fighting against the stronger hollows, something which he realised, for the good of the world, he would have to aid. If the stronger Menos were defeated, and common hollows given control of Hueco Mundo, then it would become less of a threat to the real world, as Shinigami could deal with the lesser hollows easily enough. To this end, he headed to where the battle was fiercest, and seeing a strange, skeletal being doing battle with a masked human, it didn’t take long for Anar to realise the masked human was the leader of the Menos, and releasing his bankai, he fired a massive blast of reiatsu into the back of the Prophet of Ra, giving Sin an opening which he took full advantage of and he quickly killed the Prophet with a full powered punch to the head, removing it. With their leader dead, the Menos fled the seemingly endless horde of hollows, and so it was that the Menos were removed from the Dragon Empire, and Anar came face to face with Sin.
Sin, having heard of but never having seen a Shinigami before, did not know how to react. Anar, on the other hand, offered his hand in friendship, hoping the hollow would understand his gesture. Sin did, and Anar returned with him to the Tower of Horus, and explained the goings on of the Soul Society, the world of the living, and of other areas of Hueco Mundo to Sin. So impressed was Sin by the knowledge that Anar brought with him, that he granted Anar the position of leader of his armies, on equal footing with the Dragon Generals and second only to Sin himself. While in any other region of Hueco Mundo, this would have been hated and acted against by the other Arrancar, the Dragon Generals knew about as much about Shinigami as Sin had, and knew only that Anar had aided them in their battles. Much to all of their surprise, Anar proved to have the same longevity they possessed, and they were able to set up the Dragon Empire into a real working society. Things continued to grow better for the inhabitants of the Empire, and with Anar’s help, the hollows were trained to best use their powers, creating an incredibly powerful and fiercely loyal army of hollows which repelled countless attempts by other rising powers to invade their land.
483AD-First Contact[/i]
For the past several centuries, the Dragon Empire had flourished, and expanded greatly, removing the Menos from nearby region of Hueco Mundo and teaching the common hollows of the newly conquered provinces. However, with this expansion, it was only a matter of time before they met another rapidly expanding power in Hueco Mundo, one that not only approved of Menos overlordship, but enforced it. But this was a force unlike any Sin and his generals had previously encountered, for this new kingdom was lead not by upstart Menos, but by Arrancar like themselves. In the year 483AD, the Imperial forces first ran into contact with Las Noches. A brief border dispute between adjuchas working for Las Noches, and hollows working for the Dragon Empire, resulted in a stalemate, and caused for diplomatic talks to be held between the leaders of the two powers. Sin and Anar were amazed at what they saw. Sin had five Arrancar serving him, each with the base form of a common hollow, and they were quite powerful, however what he met here was the ten Royal Espada, each followed by small groups of weaker Arrancar, and all serving under the rule of one incredibly powerful Arrancar, calling himself the King of Hueco Mundo. (Note: At the time, all the Arrancar here would have had Adjuchas base classes, and it is not until the deposing of the last real King of Hueco Mundo that Vasto Lorde based Arrancar begin to appear in the court).
Heated talks between the two powers started immediately after the meeting of the two leaders and their followers. Las Noches requested that it be given the region in which the dispute begun, which Sin agreed to on the condition that the common hollows of the area were resettled into imperial territory, which Las Noches in turn agreed to. This conceded region would forever be known to both sides as ‘The Line’, it symbolised the line which neither side would cross without permission from the Emperor and the King. For two decades, this went well, trade between the two powers (trading captured Menos for common hollows was regular occurrence between the two powers) flourished, and regular annual meetings between the King and Sin lead to growing friendship between the two, who looked to civilise Hueco Mundo, and turn it into a force to be reckoned with for those in Hueco Mundo who stood against their alliance. But as with much of what has happened in Sin’s life, the peace was not eternal, and it wasn’t long before everything changed.
506AD-Regicide, Betrayal, and Invasion[/i]
In 506AD, the previous King of Hueco Mundo was killed, along with many of the top ranking Espada, by a force unknown to Sin at the time. Arrancar whose base forms were Vasto Lordes, powerful in every definition of the word, had killed the King and most of his Espada, but had been driven out before they were able to insert themselves as the new ruling power. Only the seventh and ninth Royal Espada survived the massacre, and it was up to them and their fraccions to rebuild the kingdom, and so it was that Uriel, the former seventh Royal Espada, took the throne as King of Hueco Mundo. Uriel, unlike many of the higher ranked Royal Espada, could not see the reason for alliance with a group of feral common hollows, and why they should stop he expansion of his Kingdom. The ninth (now first) Espada attempted to dissuade Uriel from invading Imperial territory, and for that she was executed. A dark shadow fell over Hueco Mundo as Uriel’s madness infected his followers, and those who prospered from dealings with the Empire were slaughtered as traitors, creating a frenzied environment in which Uriel was able to draw forth an army to begin his invasion.
Imperial forces reported that the King’s army had crossed The Line (haha^^) and Sin and Anar were forced to gather their own army to meet with him. What followed was a battle of epic proportions, but Sin’s forces could not hope to win. Three of the five Dragon Generals were killed in the first year of the campaign, and Sin himself received a would filled with a fast acting poison left behind by the resurreccion of the Arrancar who inflicted the wound, which took Sin out of the battle, and it is mostly thanks to Anar’s knowledge of medical kido that Sin was even able to survive. His forces, however, were not half as lucky, and within ten years the Royal Army had captured the Tower of Horus, imposing Royal rule on its inhabitants. The common hollows were treated like slaves, the feral hollows little more than food, and Sin and Anar, along with the last two remaining generals, were exiled from their homeland, and forced to either wait for death in the wastes of Hueco Mundo or try their luck in the world of the living.
516AD-Waiting
Things had taken a bad turn for Sin and his remaining friends. The four of them left Hueco Mundo and returned to the real world, and settled down in northern Hokkaido. Here they remained for two hundred years, training daily, increasing their powers, and Anar even contemplated contacting Soul Society, however he knew full well how traitors were dealt with, and instead set to work studying the local regions. Unlike his hollow companions, Anar was able to enter human society without attracting too much attention from the Shinigami, who were growing increasingly active in the world of the living, and the reason why soon became apparent to Sin and Anar when an Arrancar bearing a tattoo of the number 9 on his forehead appeared nearby and attacked a small city that they had been relying on for survival. Shinigami arrived, and were massacred, he was another of the Royal Espada, here in the world of the living. Sin and his generals were able to overpower him with ease, and upon binding him, they questioned his motives. They discovered Uriel’s ambitions had not ended with the subjugation of the Dragon Empire, that now he was turning his attentions towards the world of the living. Killing the Espada, Anar convinced Sin that Uriel had to be stopped, not just for the real world, but for his own people who were suffering under Uriel’s madness. Returning to Hueco Mundo, they began a covert operation of gathering forces, convincing hollows to rise up against the Menos all over the area south of The Line that had once been Imperial territory. Uriel, however, discovered this before they were fully prepared, and moved to destroy Sin once and for all. Forced into action, the signal was given, and the hollows rose up against the Menos, Sin’s greatest battle had begun.
738AD-The Hollow Rebellion[/i]
The war was unlike anything that had taken place before, for a number of reasons. Unbeknownst to Sin, the hollows he had convinced to aid him had spread the word, and his forces had grown beyond what he had imagined, but perhaps the most important factor was the defection of the Royal Espada. All but the first Espada had grown tired of Uriel’s actions, and turned on him. The battle lasted five months, cost the lives of countless hollows, including both of Sin’s remaining Dragon Generals, and half the Royal Espada, but it also had the desired effect of killing Uriel. With Uriel dead, the Menos army retreated past The Line, and Sin and Anar were left to rebuild Imperial rule within their homeland once more. As a final parting gift, the Royal Espada gave to Sin and Anar the ranks of Privarion Espada, numbers 1000 and 1001, and the five deceased generals were posthumously given numbers 1002-1006. This was the last Sin heard from the Royal Espada, contact with the Royal Kingdom was kept to a minimum after this event, watchtowers were set up guarding The Line, and the meetings between the leaders were cancelled, however it was agreed that neither power would wage war on the other, instead focusing their efforts inwards and towards the real world in the case of Las Noches, and inwards and outwards in the case of the Dragon Empire, who continued to fight Menos oppression to the south of the Imperial domain.
General Info
