General Info
Name: Kaito Karakousa
Gender: Male
Age: Alive: 20 Dead: - 750 Appears to be in early 20's.
Ranking: Second Councilman (Earned via Main Arc)
Physical Description:
Kaito stands at 5'7. Compared to many of his peers he is small, and also doesn’t have very broad shoulders. He can commonly be mistaken as an older teen or younger adult from behind. His very pale and smooth skin makes his blue hair and eyes stand out. His hair is often not combed so he leaves it be. He could be mistaken for a gothic kid but that is not the case. Multiple piercings' decorate his face including snake bites, his eyebrow and his nose. The piercing are basic small rings, nothing fancy.
As far as clothing Kaito always is wearing a pair of black baggy cargo pants along with black skater shoes. As a top he commonly wears a regular black hoodie with a yellow smiley face on it. The smiley face has X's for eyes and is sticking its tongue out. Also Kaito carry's a black backpack around with him. This way he can pass as a high school student. As well as the backpack Kaito always is wearing wireless earphones. He can hear what people are saying but likes to listen to music during fights.
Personality: Kaito is generally very quiet and keeps to himself. The only time he often are when he is degrading someone or speaking to his zanpakutou. He feels like he will only complicate matters if he intervenes too often. this causes him not to put forth his own ideas and makes him more of a follower. He also feels as if he is constantly the weakest person around. Even though this may not be so he feels that way regardless. This stems from an inferiority complex. This causes Kaito to constantly try and get stronger.
Kaito acts like he has absolutely no feelings. This is just a charade. He bottles up his feeling and gives no notice to other peoples. It’s not that he doesn’t care or hates life or anything like that. He doesn’t give emotion because he doesn’t want to appear weak in the eyes of his peers. This also stems from his inferiority problem.
Kaito's thoughts don’t run smoothly. One minute he will be thinking of one thing and then the next minute he will have his mind on another thought. He doesn’t voice his opinion often so it is hard to tell what he is thinking about exactly. If he focuses or is consulted with a problem he can think quickly and accurately. Though he may not give the right answer, He will give one to the best of his knowledge. He is rather smart but is not boastful about it.
Kaito has few likes and many dislikes. The main things he enjoys are basic, Music, Fighting and getting stronger. He also enjoys the company of a friend but doesn’t like making friends. His dislikes are rather large compared to his likes. He doesn’t like showing any sort of weakness, Physically, mentally, or emotionally. He doesn’t like being in small groups because he often sticks out like a sore thumb. Above all things he absolutely hates it when people brag about how "Great" they are.
His obvious flaws are his small size and his mental problem. However it goes deeper. He doesn’t work well in groups and this can cause problems often ending in a fight. He is often an antagonist, this isn’t intentional it just comes naturally for him. He also shows no emotion to other people’s feelings, Regardless of whether or not the person is a friend or foe. Another problem with Kaito is he will do anything he can for power. However he does have a few good qualities. If he sees a friend in danger he will help, He is courageous. Also he is rather intelligent and open minded.
Finally if you are a friend of Kaito he will go to lengths to help you. He may not risk his life for you but he will go through great bodily harm. He does have compassion for his friends, Kaito just lack the mind set to express it.
BIRTH:
Kaito was born in thirteenth century Japan. He was born in his family's dojo, on the floor. His father owned the dojo and was also a doctor. His mother, Seeking his father to let him know her water broke, Went to the dojo. Given the lack of medical knowledge in fifteenth century Japan his mother died giving birth. This never bothered Kaito's father. He had impregnated Kaito's mother for the sole purpose of raising a son to take over the dojo when he died. This son...Was Kaito.
Kaito's child hood was very different. He was raised to inherit his father’s wealth and power, But Kaito didn’t know enough yet to want that. At a young age he was taught manners and discipline. His father left Kaito in the hands of many trainers and experts on many occasions, because of this Kaito never really grew a relationship with his father, or anyone really. By the time he was 5 he was already being taught at his father’s dojo. This was the only time he saw his father. At other times he would be studying, when he wasn’t studying he was training, and when he wasn’t training he was resting.
When Kaito turned seven his father had begin to teach him Iaido, Kendo and Kenjitsu, the dojo's specialty was sword martial arts. As far as technique and size Kaito was slow. He wasn’t able to pick up things fast enough to satisfy his father. As punishment his father would smack him with shinai (Bamboo swords) a set number of times. If Kaito cried he was hit more. This developed Kaito's inferiority complex. He often felt he wasn’t as good as some of his peers and so he would taunt them. This often ended in fights. Kaito would do anything to win, He was very aggressive and controlling. His father liked that. After three years Kaito was forced to become the best pupil in the dojo. Still he searched to make his father happier. Kaito began to train without Bogu(Armor). This greatly impressed his father. For this accomplishment his father awarded him his first Katana.
When Kaito was 12 he was enrolled into his first tournament. The whole tournament was going fine. Kaito was winning fight after fight until his semi-final fight came. Kaito under estimated his enemy and lost in under a minute do to his arrogance. His father left furious. When Kaito returned to the Dojo to beg forgiveness his father was waiting.
"Kaito you are a good swordsman, But your arrogance knows no bounds... I do not want you to return to this dojo until you can defeat me. Only then may your shame be forgotten" His father’s words rang through Kaito's ears. He left the dojo taking with him some money, a pair of clothes...and his katana.
REVENGE:
Kaito wandered for three years endlessly, he would stop on streets and buy food or chat with locals for directions to the next village or town. When he needed money he would do odd jobs or seek down local bandits for money. Usually whenever he came across a dojo he would speak to its master and eventually/Inevitably end up in a fight with them. This resulted in a lot of beatings and victory's. Kaito didn’t care. As long as he could one day he could defeat his father.
One day well Kaito was wondering through a village he did not know or care to know the name of he was confronted by a local dojo owner who had heard of a young wondering trouble maker. The man confronted Kaito with a calm smile. He told him if the boy would simply join his dojo or continue moving through the town he wouldn’t kill Kaito. At first Kaito laughed at the old man, until he recognized the man. His father used to talk of his own Senpai, An old man with a love for battle and a scar across his face. The scar was given to the man after Kaito's father betrayed him and attacked the man in his sleep.
The man's name was ironically Hidoi. This basically means asshole. Actually it translates directly to cruel, harsh, or serious. This was exactly the kind of old man this guy was. Kaito had joined the man’s dojo. Not from the fear of being killed but for the skill of gaining revenge upon his father. Even after months of training Hidoi said Kaito had no chance of ever defeating his father. That he should give up and move on. Kaito didn’t believe Hidoi, He believed he had grown greatly stronger and could now easily crush his father. So he left Hidoi and back home.
The Student never surpasses the Master:
When Kaito arrived back home so much had changed. The homes were run down and pathetic, and the few that were nice looked as if the families inside them were fighting to just stay alive. Kaito shrugged and continued on down the dusty street. When he came to the outside of the dojo he noticed a few things. First it was still up and running like before. However now it wasn’t nearly as nice. There were also fewer students then before and this shocked Kaito. This dojo was once renowned in Japan a being one of the greatest dojo’s around. Kaito entered the building slowly and was almost instantly confronted by a younger pupil.. The boy asked him what Kaito wanted and then went and fetched his father. A few moments later twenty of the dojo’s pupils came pouring out into the main room swords drawn. Kaito panicked, there was no way he could fight twenty men at once. He was worried but not afraid.
As he stood there his face showing no fear he saw his father come walking out onto the dojo’s floor. He was walking slow almost like in pain. There was a smile on his face as the man spoke to Kaito for the first time in many years. “Kaito my boy, You have returned home to your father. Now do you believe you can kill me?” Kaito said nothing and nodded. That’s when all the pupils sheathed their swords and kneeled down. Kaito’s father stood about ten feet away from him. His slowly drew the sword from his hip and Kaito did the same. The fight was short, Kaito attacking his father with a basic diagonal slash, and his father parrying it and stabbing his son in the stomach with lightning speed. Kaito dropped to the floor as his father held him whispering into his ear “I am sorely disappointed Kaito… But your mother, She would have been proud. Goodbye son.”
Kaito laid on the floor looking up at his father as his blood poured over the dojo’s floor and ran from the dojo’s steps into the street. Kaito couldn’t look away from his father’s face. He had spent his entire life waiting to confront his father, to defeat him. And in seconds his life’s purpose was shattered and he was feeling deaths cold embrace.
Confusion in the Rukongai:
Kaito woke abruptly. His head was spinning and he was confused as hell. Had he been dreaming? He looked around and he crossed the idea of dreaming away. He was in a whole other town. People were looking and laughing at him. What the hell was their problem? Kaito stood and began looking for someone that could help him. Finally he found someone that might be able to help. There was a man standing near a small vendor talking to some man. Kaito casual walked up and tapped the man’s shoulder. The guy was wearing black robes and had brown hair and eyes. He also carried a sword. The man turned and before Kaito could speak the man explained everything very quickly. First off Kaito was dead and now in a place called the “Soul Society. Also the man asked a very odd question. “Are you hungry?”
Kaito never thought much about food. But this was the first time he could only think about food. He wanted some damn ramen. Kaito still didn’t respond just nodded quickly. The shinigami smiled like he had accomplished something and then pointed Kaito in the right way.
When Kaito walked through this new place the shinigami called the “Rukongai” he noticed the further he went the more assholes he saw. It was like the further he went there were more men with weapons and anger issues. As he reached the end of his trip he ran into another man carrying a blade. However this one wasn’t as friendly. The man turned revealing rugged facial hair and uncombed hair. The man was obviously drunk as his words slurred as he spoke. “ What’s …err probeem maaan….You trrying t’ start sumtin?”
Not even Kaito’s melancholy persona could hold in the laugh. He burst out laughing at the man. Completely unaware of the fact the man had two other friends. Before the man could grab Kaito and throw him around he began walking away quickly. Seeing the shinigami he had met before walking towards him with an angered look on his face. The shinigami lectured him as he escorted him to the Soul Academy. Telling him he could either end up like the drunks he met or he could become a shinigami. The shinigami also added it wasn’t Kaito’s choice and that he was going to join and complete the academy’s training.
The Academy:
The academy was very easy for Kaito. His life’s training had made him ready for the academy. He was already used to grueling physical activities. Thing’s such as speed and strength was easy. He also excelled at Zanjutsu having trained with swords since a boy. His instructors were nice and always tried to get him to talk. It never worked. He had been very strict about keeping to himself well he was in the academy. Every so often he would be forced to mutter something (Usually an insult) but that was beside the point. Kaito’s years seem to fly by in the Academy. Time and time again he was given goals and time and time again he accomplished them, such an over achiever.
The Last year of his Academy training he was approached by the squad captains. Examining Kaito most of them just saw a regular shinigami with less potential than your average high school dropout. Luckily however this sort of thing attracted the squad 11 captain, and well squad 11 in general. He was “drafted” so to speak before even completing his training.
Kaito remained unseated for about 50 years. The same boring routine kept him from proving himself as a real fighter because squad 11 was mainly used for large scale ops. The only thing he did worth noting was fight the odd hollow or two every now and then well patrolling Tokyo (Edo had became Tokyo over the time Kaito had went through his training and squad assignment and the 19th century was swinging its way around the corner)
Fast Forward:
Year’s pasts. At first it was a dull steady flowing timeline. Hundreds of years pass and Kaito remains in the eleventh as fourth seat. Kaito didn’t have much success at first in the eleventh division. His appearance made it look like he was shy where in reality he was just reserved. Kaito didn’t speak for many years straight. He had no need to. Day to day he upheld his responsibilities and continued to serve the soul society faithfully. Kaito had developed no friends or even close comrades inside of division 11 or any division for that matter. It’s hard to show compassion for a person who doesn’t talk and doesn’t acknowledge you. Kaito was not advancing inside the division due to his quietness and his underachieving in front of his superiors. Though he could complete his duties he couldn’t go ‘above and beyond’; So his superiors saw no real reason to advance him. . . Until one of his superiors pissed Kaito off.
Kaito had been repairing a dojo as punishment for loosing a sparring match earlier that day. His captain deemed it fit that if his fourth seat could loose to three of his unseated shinigami then his fourth sat could fix ALL dojo’s in the 11th division.; As if he wasn’t pissed off enough for loosing to three weaklings. He tightened his grip on the broom as he swept up bits of fragmented wood and rubble into a pile. The entire dojo was destroyed. With holes and slashes all around the room. He was surprised it didn’t collapse from all the damage. He had been humiliated for loosing and humiliated for the one thing he had hated even more then his father…his weakness. His weakness had caused him to fail…. His weakness had caused him to remain in the fourth seat for so many years…his weakness had made him a fool yet again. Rage taking over Kaito’s entire body he threw the broom with unmatched power towards the door of the dojo letting out a roar unmatched even by the most furious lion. Kaito’s eyes starred at the rubble for a moment…. Silence. That’s when it clicked. The broom should have smashed into something.
Quickly looking up Kaito saw his Captain standing in the door of the ruined dojo, a broom was in one hand and his other was slowly drawing his zanpakutou. Kaito was confused. Did his sensei really think the broom was an attack? Maybe Kaito should say something and… No time. Before he could speak or even draw his own weapon his captain had moved in and planted a foot in Kaito’s ribs sending him spinning and sprawling into a wall a few feet away. With a loud thud Kaito’s body smashed against it before falling to the floor and more dust fell from the ceiling creating even more mess. Kaito began to lift his body off the ground but before he could a foot connected with his arms and then another with his ribs; this time causing him to fall and then roll several feet away, stopping directly on the pile of rubble and dirt Kaito had been sweeping. Splinters filled his back and his ribs were defiantly cracked. This time Kaito was able to stand and look at his captain before another attack came; a small cut across his chest and a knee to the gut, removing all oxygen from Kaito’s lungs.
“You’re… fucking with me” Kaito was able to spit out of his lips along with a few drops of blood for accompaniment. The captain smile and replied “Actually you’re the one who assaulted me. I thought you were strong enough to be in this division? You always seem to want to improve yet you never work hard enough for it. Once a weakling always a weakling I suppose” Kaito was up and under his captain with unseen speed fueled by his rage. The captain was still able to avoid him in time but was surprised by his speed. Another cut appeared on Kaito’s left leg tripping him into a wall of swords hanging on the wall. As Kaito fell he watched a few of the swords fall likes pendulums. Using his feet he was able to push off the wall and roll backwards, he used this momentum to spring into the air. Well flipping through the air he drew his sword and was able to get the jump on his captain, sliding his sword across the shoulder of his captain for a few inches before landing behind the stronger man. Kaito landed kneeling but quickly rose, in the second it took him to rise he blinked and in that blink he lost sight of his captain.
Sudden pain filled Kaito’s ribs as once again he crashed into a wall; the difference this time is Kaito’s body didn’t stop at the wall but continued through it into the courtyard. Another loud smash occurred as Kaito’s body stopped yet again against wood; this time it was a tree. Another difference had occurred as well, when Kaito’s body smashed against the tree a piece of fragmented wood that was a few inches long had been shot into Kaito’s shoulder. Falling to the ground he didn’t feel like he had the strength to continue. A second went by…a minute…maybe more.
“Get up”
“You bastard…get up”
“Show him our strength Kaito.”
More blood. More sweat. More anger. More weakness. Kaito heard his captain advancing towards him, slowly foot by foot making his way closer. Kaito didn’t think he would kill him, but he also knew he wouldn’t be saved either. What happened to that voice? Who was that? Kaito didn’t notice anyone else’s presence… Then almost in unison as Kaito realized who the voice was it spoke again. “I’m Houtai Kaito. Unleash me and fight back” Kaito looked up at his Captain and his eyes widened. His captain looked down at him with a confused look before speaking. “Are you afraid or something Kaito” the look disappeared as a smile spread across Kaito’s lips and his captain realized that Kaito wasn’t looking at him yet behind him. The smile was because standing behind his captain, seen only by Kaito was a 7 and a half foot tall panda that easily weighed a ton. The panda’s fur was blue and black instead of the usual white and his arms had large gauntlets. The Panda seemed to smile at Kaito as he nodded.
“Let’s Obliterate Houtai!” Kaito jumped up and activated his shikai. Anger filled his body. A rage so powerful it began to solidify around his hands. Metal replaced his zanpakutou. Kaito’s hands were replaced by gauntlets and metal gloves along with shin guards and high metal boots. Reitsu had built in the gauntlets and shin guards in the seconds they had formed. Kaito felt the power seep through and around him. Intense joy and pleasure filled his body…but his captain wasn’t impressed. His captain starred at him and smirked “Kaito…boy… you might just be strong enough to contend with me now” Kaito wasn’t shocked by his captains confidence. Rushing forward in his new body his sent punch towards his captains face with a speed that was new to Kaito. As his captain avoided the first blow Kaito launched a barrage of aggravated assault onto his captain. Releasing the Reitsu in his gauntlets accidentally he was able to land multiple hits on his captains face before a blow was returned. An upward slash sliced his chest open and sent Kaito into the air. His captain was floating and angrily waiting for him. A downward heel sent Kaito in the same direction. Smashing into the ground removed the young shinigami’s confidence. His captain made his way toward him and lifted his sword for another blow, out of instinct Kaito’s arm reached out openly towards his superior and a green orb of Reitsu flew out smashing into his captain’s chest in a short second. As the dust cleared from the explosion Kaito saw his captain starring down at him with that same damn cocky smile Kaito hated. His captain’s robes were in ruins but his chest had only suffered a few gashes and nothing lethal.
“Kaito… You’re being promoted to My Vice Captain. You’re the only person I have met with balls enough to use your shikai on me. If you train that… you might have my title one day.” His captain laughed and walked away as if nothing happened; stopping only to remark that Kaito still had to repair the dojos. Just like that Kaito had learned connected with his zanpakutou and risen to Vice captain… Only later did he find out the reason his captain had visited was to tell him the Vice Captain of Division 11 had been killed in action. Rising Kaito had reverted out of Shikai and removed the piece of wood in his shoulder… only to continue with his task, this time and for the first time in his life, with someone to talk to. “So… Houtai it is right?”
Fear and Independence:
Vice Captain brought forth something new for Kaito. Something Kaito had wanted. Power. Kaito was able to command. To order. He felt good, though still he rarely spoke. His words now were only popping out commands. His orders were fair and he divided the work load evenly amongst his officers, though he tended to give the unseated officers more chances to prove themselves. Over the coarse of many years Kaito would make recommendations for unseated officers more then he would for seated officers to advance. This was probably because of Kaito’s love for the “underdog”. Kaito hid his anxiety well. He never made it evident to his peers he was a power hungry lunatic. He never made it evident his biggest fear was weakness. He also never made it evident when he talked to Houtai. Since discovering his spirit it seemed he talked nonstop to him, mentally more than vocally. The years passed by and a rematch was what Kaito thirsted for. He had been training his shikai. He had been training nonstop, fighting multiple enemies and even multiple vice captains at times. Years and years and Kaito was recognized as one of the top fighters not only in his division but in The soul society. Almost unmatched by vice captains he was able to stay on par with some captains. Though he never had the rematch he thirsted for. But then the nightmares came…
One night Kaito was assigned to go to a city in America called New York City. Him and several seated officers of division eleven were fighting a large mass of Adjuchas that had seemingly “appeared” in the area for unknown reasons. As Kaito fought his way through the hollows he realized that the area was flooded with plus. He ordered half of the shinigami to evacuate the plus and the other half; the stronger shinigami, to stay and fight. As the battle waged on many hollow were slain and as all wars go even some shinigami lost there lives. The most tragic death to Kaito was neither a hollow nor a shinigami however, but instead a older woman plus that was running away from a Menos. Kaito had quickly turned around in the commotion and accidentally impaled the woman with his sword. She stared into his eyes and at that moment he realized that she looked exactly like his mother. Kaito had convinced himself he had stabbed the spirit of his long dead mother. That’s when the nightmares began.
Kaito began having the same nightmares over and over. He kept re-dreaming the blade plunging into her stomach and the cold dead stare that she gave back. Each time it was a little bit different. Sometimes she would ask him “Why son? Why..” Or she would just cry. The dreams always sent Kaito into a trance like state. To the point he would be sleeping and screaming at the top of his lungs, waking other shinigami. He always had to be woken up by someone else or the screaming would continue for hours. As the nightmares became more reoccurring from twice a month to one a week to every night Kaito’s mental condition worsened. He was put in a private sector of the division eleven quarters and temporarily relieved of duty. The nightmares didn’t get batter…instead they started to happen in the middle of the day. He began to hear voices and see a strange version of himself. This clone of himself would flash for a single second sometimes in a mirror or in a shadow. The voices would taunt him. Constantly the voices would mock him saying he was “weak, or that it was his fault his mother was dead. It was his fault he was never strong enough to defeat his father.”. The voices got under Kaito’s skin. Kaito would scream or shout back but they wouldn’t stop… and no one else could hear him. For a long time Houtai would try and calm Kaito but nothing seemed to work. No amount of talking or training would make the voices stop.
Kaito was sitting in the bathroom starring at a mirror in front of him. He couldn’t hear the voices. Instead he stared at a reflection of himself. This reflection of him was a tad bit different. The difference rested in the clothing and skin tone. The man in the mirror had paint white skin, a hole in his throat the size of a half dollar, and all of his clothing was neon street clothes. The “mirror image” was smirking back at Kaito… But Kaito wasn’t happy. Every movement Kaito made the mirror image would as well. Eventually the two began speaking back and forth.
At first Kaito opened with questions answered only by a evil maniacal smile “What are you? What is happening to me? Why wont you go away?” The being just stared…and smiled back. Kaito grew angry and then the clone spoke. “You wouldn’t understand anyways you pathetic bastard. I’m going to take your body over. Then kill all of the people that matter to you… Oh that’s right NO ONE MATTERS TO YOU!, Because you don’t matter to ANYONE!” The clone began to laugh to himself a crazy mad laugh. Leering his head back and cackling loud enough to make Kaito’s ears hurt. Eventually Kaito snapped and lunged at the mirror punching it. That’s when things really got weird. All around Kaito was white. Only white. It was just him and the clone. Now the clone was moving freely. No longer copying what Kaito did. Kaito didn’t have his weapon and when he tried contacting Houtai or anyone else. To the outside world it appeared Kaito was starring into the mirror like a zombie, he emitted no noise and only basic functions necessary for survival were going on.
Kaito starred at the evil spitting image of himself “What’s your name?”… It didn’t answer at first then looking back at Kaito it spoke “Well you can call me Dobe” … Kaito looked at him. “What do you-“cut short this time Dobe interrupted “Its ALWAYS WHAT WITH YOU! Never how….or why? So I’m going to tell you how. I’m going to kill you, Which will destroy your conscious mind and let me take over your body. . .” He smiled at Kaito. Yet Kaito’s face hadn’t changed. The nightmares had been occurring for little over a month now. His mind was lost. He was confused. His body was weakening. He was loosing his grip on reality. “Listen Dobe… If you kill me I guarantee you the body will die with it. Given the fact I still have Kido at my disposal… You wont kill me…You can’t” Kaito said this dryly. His last month of existence had been harder and worse then all of the last 600 years. He had been dead for a month so even if he lost against Dobe he wasn’t very worried. Kaito realized if Dobe submitted he would get his life back. If he killed Dobe he would be able to return to his former self.
“Actually your wrong Kaito” Dobe read Kaito’s thoughts and responded to them “I am you… you would refer to me as a ‘hollow’ living inside you. You cant kill me because I’m already inside you. YOU…Can’t…KILL…ME CUZ IM ALREADY INSIDE YOU!” The hollow began to scream it over and over. Kaito finally got fed up and rushed the hollow. Throwing a jab the hollow received it in the temple. He was knocked under Kaito who was already casting a Kido spell. “Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!” A large panel of yellow energy smashed into the hollows chest and before he could recover a second spell was on its way. “Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws” Blue fire flew and engulfed Dobe’s body in flames. Kaito burst through the explosion and planted a foot into the gut of the hollow before flash stepping behind him to leg sweep him. The hollow obviously couldn’t fight well. But the Reitsu he must have used to materialize himself in the soul society had to have been large. Kaito pinned the hollow to the ground with one arm around his throat and the other twisting the monsters arm. “Give up now you bastard…or ill kill you”
Dobe screamed and wriggled and tried to get free…but couldn’t. After hours of argument and fighting the two came to an agreement. Dobe would give up the partial control of Kaito’s mind in return that Kaito always chewed gum (When Kaito chewed gum Dobe could taste it and it was like ecstasy to the hollow). And also whenever Kaito released him, Dobe would take control of the body instead of Kaito. Meaning for the short period of time he was released Dobe’s mannerisms and psychotic behavior took over and would attack their enemies. Kaito remained in basic control but would be greatly influenced by his hollow companion. Kaito remained in the hollow’s all white world and the hollow taught him how to control his powers. At first they worked on shikai and bankai. Then after a while he was taught to release his mask. Though he could only operate it for 13 seconds. Those thirteen were devastating. The first time Kaito released his mask he was fighting…nothing. Launching and training his news attacks against a wasteland didn’t really give him the training he needed. But he had no other options.
Part of the deal between Kaito and Dobe was he would learn how to control his mask before returning to the Soul Society. It seemed like time never began in this world. Kaito never got hungry and the only time he grew tired was when he trained with Dobe. The two despised each other but concluded the only way the other could survive was to work together. Kaito was able to control his mask after what seemed like months. Kaito didn’t crave power like he did before. The mask filled that void. He was more relaxed. Not happy but content now. The time he spent in this world made him realize he didn’t need to shinigami for power. He didn’t need them to make himself stronger. He could just grow on his own, after all he knew they wouldn’t allow him to remain now that he was a vizard.
Freedom:
Kaito wasted no time when he woke up. Sitting up he didn’t recognize where he was but that didn’t matter. Around him he noticed that he seemed to be in a hospital. He ripped multiple plugs off his body and causing a large amount of racket he ran down the hall. There where other patients lying in beds hooked up to monitoring machines. He knew exactly where he was from the sounds of the moaning and groaning, crying and screaming in the distance. Kaito had been sent somewhere inside the 9th division. Rushing down a hall he burst through a sent of doors and his zanpakutou materialized in his hands. Kaito didn’t want to kill any shinigami but he had to get out of the soul society. He knew what would happen if they found out he was a vizard. They would lock him up inside the 9th division and there wouldn’t be an option of going back. Kaito didn’t have that option now anyways; he had released his mask and his hollow. A act that was strictly prohibited amongst the shinigami. Kaito smiled as he saw two shinigami of the ninth division turn the corner fallowed by his very own captain. Was his captain actually checking on him? was the cold hard bastard actually showing concern for Kaito? Or was he here to “pull the plug”? Either way Kaito didn’t care as he ripped open a gargantia and stepped into it forever relinquishing his life as a shinigami. The only time he stopped was to give the men the finger.
He disappeared that day and his life changed. He had spent six and a half centauries in the soul society and now… in minutes he had thrown away all that work. Yet he didn’t regret a thing. The cold wind of Tokyo made the hair on the back of his neck rise as he made his way down the street. New smells and sites filled his eyes and ears and Kaito was actually having a good time. He had been away from the society for a few weeks and not once had he felt like he was being fallowed but No doubt the Soul society would list him as a rogue and send someone after him. Kaito didn’t care. He had two “friends” now. Houtai and Dobe were two he could always talk to, Two companions forever. He stopped and sat at a little fast food store. He didn’t order a thing just sat and watched as others ate. A man sitting next to Kaito kept giving him odd looks and Kaito was surprised he could see him. He had no gigai activated and it was unusual for normal humans to see spirits. The man looked quizzically at him before quickly standing and leaving. That’s when it dawned on Kaito to leave. He stood and began walking down the busy street. Activating his gigai in an alleyway he was able to walk around Tokyo like a normal human being. The clothes he wore were all loose and baggy and the back pack he carried looked huge compared to his body. Though it didn’t contain much Kaito’s small frame dwarfed him to most average size people. Rain started and Kaito made his way to into an old empty cathedral. Inside the Reitsu levels were making Kaito tense up. He quickly reverted out of gigai and materialized his zanpakutou in his hands. Drawing the blade he looked around and realized he wasn’t alone; around him stood thirty to forty other men and women, Some where sitting on benches where others were leaning against walls. But the place was so dense with energy it made Kaito nervous. A woman made her way to Kaito and with a smile asked “your Kaito right? The vizard that defected from the society after a “coma”… you a vizard correct?” Kaito was stunned. How did she know so much? It had been only a few weeks. Two months at most, Kaito couldn’t keep track of time or just didn’t care to.
Rain dripped from his hair and smashed to the ground and still no word. A blank expression stayed on his face. The woman starred back awaiting an answer and when none came she nodded to herself. The woman obviously didn’t have time for Kaito’s silence “Well your welcome to stay with our ragtag group. Your undoubtedly being hunted by now. I will have someone show you where you can sleep.” With that the woman disappeared behind two large doors and the raw Reitsu in the air dwindled down greatly. Two younger looking vizard lead Kaito to his room; A small ten foot janitor’s closet with a bed in the corner and a dressed adjacent to it. This small room was what Kaito called home for the next hundred and fifty years he spent with the masked syndicate. Over the years Kaito developed relationships with many of the vizard. They began to learn he rarely spoke to anyone but the spirits inside of him. His new peers also witnessed his unusual behaviors such as his constant chewing of gum and the obvious inferiority complex. Kaito remains with the Syndicate and that’s where his only loyalties lie; With Ashley and his fellow brethren.

Other Characters: Aiko Tanaka Vice Captain of Squad 11
Roleplay Sample: There was a slight tap on the hard ground. The familiar, repetitive thud of feet slapping against the ground. The rhythmic beat of the young man’s music could be heard from many feet away as he trotted along the sidewalk of Tokyo. His wireless earphones in blaring music as he chewed gum. He was walking across the rooftops of some small buildings. Dancing and singing along with the music he was listening to. Houtai had convinced him to have a good time for once. He was….enjoying himself. As he danced and jumped around the roofs he ignored the chaos that was going on not far from where he was. Tokyo was being destroyed by a pair of Adjuchas. Yet Kaito danced on merrily. He was having a good time and he wasn’t going to let a couple innocent deaths stop him. Or at least he wasn’t until his I-Pod died. Sighing heavily and throwing it out into a nearby river yelling at it. Kaito then turned and looked up towards the sky. In the way of his vision however were two grinning hollows.
Kaito drew his zanpakuto. The katana slid out slowly making the scratching sound of metal on metal as he unsheathed it. He pointed in the middle of the hollows and spoke loud but softly “ Your…..ruining….my day.” As his words clicked with the hollow he was already behind the one on the left. His blade already buried into its skull. The other hollow didn’t realize what was happening until he was sprayed with his friend’s blood. By the time the creature had turned its head Kaito had flashed stepped to its other side. Kaito stuck his sword into the creature’s side quickly, allowing it no time to think. “Hmm…..too bad.”
As Kaito cleaned off his blade and was about to sheath it he heard a clapping from behind him. He turned slowly sheathing his blade. It was a white haired shinigami. He was wearing a Vice Captain patch. By the way he walked and spoke Kaito could tell he was division 11. Kaito’s former division. The shinigami spoke quickly without thinking about what he was saying. Typical of division 11 and shinigami in general. “ So nice job there cleaning up the Adjuchas, I thought I was going to have to fight them. Their so boring aren’t they?…. Hey your Division elevens old vi-”
Kaito cut the man off with a wave of his hand and two words “Shut up” Kaito turned to leave. As he began to walk the other way he heard the shinigami draw his weapon. Kaito chuckled slightly and spoke loud enough so the other man could hear him even as he continued walking. “If you fight me, I will kill you. Without thinking boy. I am the second seat of the council now… I have no regard for the life of any shinigami anymore.” The other man didn’t speak and then sheathed his sword. Maybe understanding the sincerity in Kaito’s voice or just deciding it wasn’t worth it. Either way they both went their separate ways not caring of the other. At least the night had been interesting for Kaito. He got to meet the man who replaced him
Name: Kaito Karakousa

Additional
