I once joined a Bleach RPG forum that allowed female Shinigami to become pregnant and give birth to Shinigami children. My question is quite simple, whether this is allowed here at Bleached Souls. It is a curiosity question only.
Thanks for taking the time to read this minor question! Sakura

I like the idea, would be great for plot possibilities. However, I've been saving this for a while......and that's how unexpected teen pregnancy happens...

Okay... I might be a party pooper, but...
I don't see how or why that would happen. Don't all residents of Soul Society (shinigami or otherwise) originate as formerly living souls in the "real world?" I mean, I know that babies have been known to die and come to live in Soul Society, but it doesn't make sense for me for anyone to be born there. It's rather odd for a newborn soul to never have had a "life," as it were.
Don't get me wrong, it could have excellent roleplay possibilities. I just think it would be unfair and odd for the baby shinigami to never have had even a chance at the living world.
I can't recall an example of such a thing happening in the canon storylines, though there have been mentions of a few (long-lasting) marriages.
Again, I don't mean to rain on the parade... I just think that would be inconsistent.

I don't want to sound cruel or blunt or anything but of course people can be born in Soul Society, how else do explain there being Noble Houses in Seireitei? Do you think the great nobles were picked off the dirty streets of Rukongai? Of course not, that would ruin the entire point of Seireitei and the noble class in Soul Society.
If a female shinigami and a male shinigami got together and had a bady, of course the baby would be a shinigami. Maybe s/he wouldn't pop out of the womb wearing a black kimono and carying a rattle for a zanpakuto, but that baby would be a lot stronger than most of the people in Soul Society and would be able to become a shinigami much easier.
Imagine if both of Ichigo's parents were shinigami instead of just his dad, he'd probably be able to control his insane amounts of energy and reseal Zangetsu into a normal-sized katana and have a way better bankai than just moving really fast and wearing a cool jacket.

Well... oddly enough that's exactly how Rukia came to be a part of a noble family.

Rukia's a special case, sorry if this is a spoiler for anyone but Rukia was adopted by Byakuya because his late wife, who was Rukias sister, wanted him to as her dying last wish. Byakuya himself comes from a long line of nobles who'd always lived in Seireitei. The fact that Byakuya married a commoner from Rukongai got him in trouble because he it the head of the clan, and marrying someone from Rukongai was against the rules but he did it anyways out of love.
Not to mention while we're on the topic of babies in soul society, our Espada Royals were all born in Hueco Mundo as Arrancar, and even my Captain of Squad 12 was born in Seireitei.

For the record, I'm not saying that it can't be done... I'm just saying that it doesn't make sense to me. The whole purpose of Soul Society is to serve as a gathering place for souls who have passed on from the world of the living. Another soul being created there from two other souls seems strange, as that newborn entity would never have had a life like everyone else.
Also, I don't think it would be out of the question for noble families to exist and be created from actual families who were together in life. If I had a position of power, you better believe that I would be on the lookout for my family members who were coming into Soul Society after death.
But... whatever. Do what you want. I just don't agree.

I do believe that you're thinking about Rukongai as all of Soul Society. Seireitei is separate from the cycle of souls between the real world and Soul Society. Spirits in Soul Society have the exact anatomy as living humans, requiring at least water (for the weaklings) and food (if the person is strong) and are able to die, why wouldn't they be able to make babies?
Soul Society is more of a second life, not just an afterlife or death.

Umm ... wow, yeah i don't see your point Shizuko ... to those who were born in SS/rukongai or whatever. That IS their chance at life, that is all they know and that is what they would live for. Reproduction of any race/entity isn't abnormal ... a soul entity or not. I mean, comeon they died mammals ... what did they do ? Excuse my language but did the males penis' just fall off ? Did the Vaginas just seal ? I mean comeon ... For the whole "Chance at life" thing ... Um, technically they're still living. They have left the living world but theys till have a life, they feel pain, they hunger, and they can actually die AGAIN. Once they die again they return to the cycle of life ... so ya reproduction is possible. Not to mention Galihan's point on the nobles, they're considered nobles for a reason ... i'm pretty sure they didn't come from the slums of SS and just appointed themself over everybody else. ~ To Take It A Bit Further ~ Who's to say 2 manifested zanpakuto spirits can't reproduce ? It is possible for them to manifest into the real world ... Lol i mean comeone let's step outside the box, every zanpakuto spirit isn't an animal, dragon, turle, bird, or whatever. Some has the appearance to be human, so what stops even THEM from reproducing ?

I agree with Roddo. Coming to souls society is a second life. If they can bleed, im sure they can reproduce. if the arrancar can, then why not shingami.
