Bount
Name: Princess Jacquelinia Elizibetiana Monterabettosi von Stadt (von) Freiheit (City of Freedom)
Gender: Female
Age: 36
Physical Description
As shown but clothing is black and orange, described in further detail below.
Jacquelinia appears about one-third her true age though she lives up to that appearance most of the time (more on that later). With the looks of a young teenager it's hard to call her attractive though she certainly fits into the cute crowd. Standing 5'1 she is just slightly tall for her “age” but still bears the childlike “chipmunk” features most adolescents do. She's neither petite nor overweight for her size being safely average and similarly her form swings more toward the younger side than the older, having developed neither curves nor any considerable bust. Her eyes are sky blue like her mothers while her excessively long pink hair reaches to the ground if let out. However more often than not it is kept in a bun ponytail, a series of braids, or more commonly at the moment a set of massive drill ponytails she keeps in place with some oversized pumpkin shaped hair-pieces.
While in Stadt von Freiheit Jacquelina shot back and forth between two forms of dress. When forced to attend public functions or when her father simply insisted she couldn't go out if she didn't “Stop dressing like a hussy!” she tended to wear posh outfits. As the “princess” of Freiheit it should come as no surprise she had access to some of the best clothing one could wear, consisting of lace dresses, more practical but no less fancy everyday wear, and a number of party dresses. However much to her parents chagrin, and her personal maids horror, for the past dozen years they've found her being somewhat rebellious.
So whenever she could get away with it, or sometimes when she just snuck out without permission she has fallen into Freiheit's newest fad amongst the youth, Halloween-nu. As the name suggests the young Bounts and Shinigami of the city have taken the human stylings of the Halloween tradition and turned it into a year-round living style. Certainly like all other fads it drives their parents insane, and similarly it will doubtless become outdated in years to come, but for the time being for anyone under sixty it's the “in” thing. It's become so popular that one part of the downtown markets has been completely revamped in the style, still it is not an appropriate visualization of Freiheit, simply a facet of its youth.
This was the outfit Jacquelinia was wearing when she made her emergency escape from Freiheit. Her hair was held up in drills with the previously mentioned pumpkin hair-clips. She wears a black tank-top and matching black skirt that exposes her midriff, each has orange outlines, the shirt has a series of orange X's embroidered into it. It has a unique feature in the high orange-collar around her neck. Over this outfit she has a large black cape which stretches down to her knees and covers her completely from the back, in the front it opens a little over the belly-button, it is closed around the neck and below the orange-collar by a clothing-pin in the shape of a bat with orange eyes. With orange and black striped thigh-high stockings that drop into lightweight shin-high black boots she's just about ready as anyone could be should her surroundings take an unexpected detour into Halloween Town. She was also wearing a single strap backpack with a jack-o-lantern face on the back which could hold a few items.
Personality
Sweet, innocent, naïve, friendly, and caring. Jacquelinia was raised by kind parents who prized choice and free will over all things and she adopted these things from them. Being sheltered she can be a bit oblivious especially about intricate emotional problems which she's never had to face, but even then she'd try to be friendly about it. She never even knew being devious and manipulative was an option so this means what you see at face value is what you get, this does backfire on her from time to time when someone uses this gullibility to their advantage. At the moment she is going through something of a rebellious teenage phase but she's far to kind for this to be little more than occasionally back talking and dressing in ways that annoy her parents. In short she's amazingly friendly and any quirks she might have are of the usual young person working their internal personality issues out visibly variety.
Stadt von Freiheit is both large, and yet small enough to sustain itself without overtaxing, as such almost everyone there lives a privileged life even if they still do work for it. This atmosphere has led to most children being pampered and amongst them Jacquelinia may have been the most so. From an early age she's had nannies and butlers to cater to her every need, though she was taught academically her mothers overprotection kept her completely unaware of the outside worlds cruelties, and though it all helped to keep her innocent it's also stunted her growth over the years. Jacquelinia suffers one of the worst cases of repressed mental growth and being highly isolated in a prosperous environment has left her both weak in terms of doing things for herself, along with being highly repressed for her age. At around 30 most of the Freiheit children begin to start catching up with their true age in terms of world weariness, and general wisdom. Jacquelinia however is still a teenager at heart and if exposed to the outside world would respond to it as such.
As outlined above this isolation has also made her emotionally underdeveloped. In a situation that would normally illicit fear, or anger to some degree in someone else the same emotion would be multiplied by ten in her case. Just like a child whose never had to face these emotions and the first time they do they “act out” Jacquelinia would be unable to accurately express these feelings without blowing them out of proportion. For instance she's never been betrayed aside from small little child lies so the first time her trust was broken over something serious she would likely be critically depressed and angry with herself and others. Apply this to all strong emotions whether positive or negative.
Jacquelinia is not familiar with the outside world or its factions at all. In Freiheit she was taught to judge people by who and not what they were, thus those sorts of distinctions were never made except in the most scientific of senses. Her knowledge of anything but Bount and Shinigami is almost nil, and even with those two she knows nothing about their cultures outside Freiheit. Her father has told her stories of the Hollow but other than knowing that they are monsters in some far away land she knows no specifics. Thus it should come as no surprise that everything else, including the human world, is utterly alien to her.
An admirer of all things cute and an avid collector of the Halloween-Nu lifestyle she will buy just about anything with a pumpkin motif on it. Against every drop of desire in her body Sascha gave in and bought her a bat for her 29th birthday which she named Analise and put an orange bow on, Analise is currently still at home. She also likes cats (black ones please!). Strangely music and art while both expressed by members in the city has never been a field that really exploded like in most cultures, so she's rather neutral and unaffected by good or bad artistic pieces. Gum drops are yummy, as is seafood, like most “Child” Bount she consumes spirit energy as a means to survive and has no particular draw to it like original Bount. In most cases she survives off latent spiritual energy or artificially manufactured packs her father long ago learned to make, naturally she's never had to catch and consume a soul like their parents.
History
The Candidates
Two-thousand, five-hundred, and seventy-three years ago the then Commander General, Miroka Rimudo, unexpectedly passed away in combat against an unknown man. It was a time of great turmoil for the shinigami as though he was respectfully remembered a number of hard issues were left unchecked with his passing. With less than a century having passed since his inception to the position Rimudo had only just begun to wrest complete control of the divisions along with seeding a relationship with Central 46, he'd hardly even given thought to a future successor or their training, much less taken any action. None of the captains were truly fit for the job but someone had to take the place of true leader or the Gotei 13 would break apart from infighting. In the end two popular captains were given endorsement, Kazuma Irashi captain of 3rd Division and Alece Monterabettosi captain of 12th Division.
Monterabettosi was one of the very first non-Japanese to ascend to the position of Captain. Having come for Ancient Italy which was a place of fierce fighting just like most others at the time he had seen his share of violence, subjugation, and manipulation. As a noble he had played no small part in what was to be the beginnings of the Roman Empire, and the Holy Vatican though those were still many years from fruition at his death. That death had come at the hands of a once loyal subject, and it had forced him to see the common peoples suffering which he had long caused before he was put to death. When he had arrived in Rukongai he became a changed man, with nothing to his name he was largely responsible for the organization of Rukongais sectors which at the time were brought almost entirely to peace. Naturally this gained him attention from Seireitei and when his spiritual power was discovered he was inducted and advanced quickly.
Hard as it might be to imagine for those who only know Kazuma now at the time he was the hardlining conservative, whereas Monterabettosi was an optimistic liberal. As the two most powerful and intelligent captains those of each disposition flocked to the others side. At the time many still harbored the more violent ideologies behind marshal honor and so Kazuma had an advantage. It didn't hurt that the predominately Oriental shinigami were as a whole still very wary of a foreign leader, even some of those that agreed with his ideals wound up siding with Kazuma over this. Similarly in the past two decades Monterabettosi had been working with the long defunct Bount, in return for looking for a cure for their sterility one of the Bount clan leaders, Sascha, allowed him to study their dolls. As the only known species with an extremely similar weapon to their own it was of great curiosity to a scientist and intellectual like Monterabettosi. Not only that but it could eventually yield prospects for empowering the shinigamis own technology.
However, despite the old Commander Generals consent to perform these tests it backfired when the need for a new one came around. Most shinigami were, and still are, very territorial and didn't approve of any outsiders being allowed within their borders. Though they let it go on at the old Generals bequest there was now wide revolt over the matter and though it did not immediately go violent it was a significant detractor to his candidacy. Kazumas backers made wide use of this and made the, at the time, false claim of Monterabettosis fraternization with “them” which had the effect it was meant to have. Though many saw through the false claims it empowered the Kazuma candidacy and ensured that most of his followers considered Monterabettosi a foreigner, fool, and deviant whom they would never follow.
Still Soul Society was never a democracy and without someone of higher ranking to vote on the matter it still had to be decided in a traditional honorable way. This basically boiled down to two options, one of them had to give up, or one of them had to die.
Disloyalty, Passion, Tradition
Though “fanatical” might have been a good word for Kazumas ranking followers it was not, in fact, a good descriptor of the man himself. While certainly at odds in conceptual ruling with Monterabettosi he had a solid head on his shoulders and both men agreed that simply fighting to the death was a highly faulty way of deciding a leader. If a king was chosen through violence he would lead through violence, and that's the rule of a tyrant. A learned man rules with his mind, and that was how they decided they would go through the “election”.
Each man would choose a test of wits, games if you must call them that, but actually mental frameworking. Whoever won both competitions would go on to lead, if each won one challenge then the Central 46 would vote on one last mental challenge that according to the guidelines would not cater to either mans cultural or mental heritage. This was widely lambasted by many traditional members of the Gotei 13 but even most of Kazumas followers agreed it was a valid means of deciding, especially given the strange circumstances. Of course many pointed out that the loser would not likely take losing easily but both men made an agreement in front of all the other captains that they would follow the rulings of whomever came out the victor without complaint. And so the event was set into motion.
Both mens choices came as no particular surprise, each choosing something widely popular in their respective lands. Kazuma chose a board-game (very similar to shogi but a much earlier version), whereas Monterabettosi picked a Riddle Joust which were one of the primary means of mental flexing amongst royalty in his time. In the living world this would later become such a serious “game” that the loser of a riddle competition might very well have been put to death for their failure. The first, a game lasted 7 hours before Monterabettosi stole a minor lead and won the day, though Kazuma had the experience advantage his opponent was of course incredibly intelligent as the leader of 12th Division and had also done his research. The second part, combat with words, was short lived. Monterabettosi tripped his fellow candidate up on the third round (“One horse-cart is going North with two people inside, another is going south with only the driver, blah blah blah blah?” in case you were wondering).
The Central 46 was never needed, Monterabettosi was the winner.
But it was not to be. Kazuma genuinely meant what he said but by this point Monterabettosi was widely outweighed on the popularity scale, similarly those on his side were not nearly so fervent in their following. At the same time whereas his side was made up mostly of his own division members, and other no names, Kazuma had the backing of almost every other captain and a number of high-ranking officers. He may not have wished it himself, but when they learned of the outcome they did not stand idly by. At first they attempted to get them to settle things in the old way by fighting and claiming the “game” was not an adequate way of choosing despite previous statements. When this was denied things turned violent.
Both men were unwilling to attack their own people over the matter and so Kazuma remained unmoving and Monterabettosi fled the scene. Unbeknown to either of them a plan was already in place and while the most powerful amongst them chased after the “Commander General” a large contingent made up of multiple divisions who supported Kazuma assaulted 12th Division. Most shinigami were not assaulted but instead taken into custody and told they could either accept Kazumas rule or be cast out, almost all accepted save for his Vice-captain Koka Yan, a Vietnamese woman, and Johnathan Earl, an English 9th seat who had found a compatriot in his captain being a fellow “outsider”. Another reason for the taking of 12th Division was the ousting of the resident Bount population, and unlike their fellow Shinigami the assaulting force had no qualms about using violence (and in fact preferred it) against them.
When Monterabettosi was alerted to the attack by a young shinigami who did not support him but did not wish to see this end in death either he returned as quickly as possible, having lost his pursuers for a time.. Most of the unseated members assaulting his division were not fool enough to attack him when he appeared, those who were found themselves quickly brought to their feet from a simple blast of his superior reishi. However he had captain level opponents looking for him and despite the ease with which he penetrated he had still not returned in time. Sascha and Jonathan had managed to retreat with her followers to a narrow hall which was keeping them from being rushed, but before they had made it Koka had been brought down by two third seats.
Understanding that this could not be resolved peacefully, especially at that moment and with the Bount present he decided to retreat for the time being. Falling back to a room deep in the division HQ before his fellow captains could arrive he activated a Senkaimon which he had illegally built there (of course most divisions, past and present have done so, but it was one of the few cases where it became public knowledge except for the current Tenth Division). There he, Jonathan, and the Bount tribe escaped to the human world. At the time he had every intention of returning once things had calmed down to attempt a peaceful solution to the problem.
A Free City
But there would be no peace. After assuring the safety of those who had escaped and burying his vice-captain he returned several days later. This was expected though by the peoples of Soul Society and the moment he came through the gate he was greeted by a half-dozen captains. They informed him that Kazuma had stepped up to the position of Commander General and though he may have had qualms at first they were now placated. He was informed that if he left then and never returned he would be allowed to live but he would never hold power again. At first he was certain this was a terrible jest but it quickly became obvious they meant it, and unlike before Kazuma made no appearance nor attempt to halt the action. Monterabettosi left Soul Society for the last time that day and he would not return, though to shocked at the time he would eventually form the opinion that Soul Society could never be what it claimed to be as long as it was ruled in such a narrow-sighted way.
With nowhere to go he returned to where the Bount had been left, explained he would leave Johnathan with them, and then headed out to see what state the world was in. Nine years later he returned, his memories of the day power was taken from a thing of the past, he had a plan now. Though the Bount had relocated to a new village where they remained anonymous he invited Sascha to come with him for a few hours as there was something he believed would benefit them all. Two days later the village was empty and all traces of that particular Bount clan were gone.
Over the next two-hundred years word spread through the spirit community of a place where those who were persecuted by others could find peace and do what they wished. Regardless of its spread it remained nothing more than a myth for most people over the next two-thousand years. Still none could deny that Bount seemed to be disappearing en-masse while many (innocent) shinigami who fled Soul Society either due to false persecution or simply not being shinigami material were somehow evading elite search teams when they were far less experienced. Though there was no proof of such a places existence these facts mixed with the occasional sightings of large Bount and Shinigami gatherings perpetuated rumors, so to did the rare story of Monterabettosi being seen in the real world. Still most, especially the Shinigami, considered it wild rumor.
In truth without the constraints of Seireitei and the Central 46 ruling his direction Monterabettosi was able to put work on previously “unimportant” possibilities. Amongst them was his discovery of making independent dimensional pockets, while nowhere near the size of naturally occurring dimensions like Soul Society or Hueco Mundo they were more than large enough to create an independent city. This was Stadt von Freiheit (named by the Bount) which began as a Bount enclave that was beyond any others judgement, but over hundreds of years became a refuge for anyone. Any spirit being hounded for reasons against fundamental rights of freedom were welcome (for instance, the Shinigami claim applying to be one of them is optional, but if someone awakens to spiritual power and does not enlist to fight for them they will die shortly after from starvation making it more of an involuntary draft).
Over time the enclave turned into a village, the village into a town, and the town into a city. When the Shinigami eventually began to give credibility to the theory as more evidence stacked up they began to hypothesize that if this was the case there was in fact a wide network for inducting members. Though ignorant to the means the truth was that Ashley the leader of the Vizard Syndicate, Monterabettosi, and his fellow Italian “Kitotsan” formed a sort of “Underground Railroad”, each helping the other. Ashley would aid Shinigami or the increasingly rare Bount to one of the men (Monterabettosi taking the more peaceful shinigami under wing, along with Bount. While Shinigami who wanted to fight but disagreed with Soul Societies ways were introduced to Kitotsan). Similarly both men kept their eyes out for Vizard their forces might run across who could be reliably recruited to the Syndicate.
Stadt von Freiheit is a democracy, every 8 years an election is held to choose who will govern them for the next eight years. However in the two-thousand years since its inception few people have attempted to face Moterabettosi and the few that have were often radical elements that lost completely. This comes not out of fear but rather that most recognize that he is both the reason the city exists, as well as an old/wise leader, and a fair one. There is little reason to oust someone who has been effective for thousands of years and has rarely made an unpopular decision or one that had negative repercussions for the city. Some might consider it a republic then and in fact some do use words that smell of it, “Princess”, “King”, etc. But in truth Moterabettosi having been betrayed himself would step down if popular opinion ever demanded it, it simply has not at this point.
At the current date Stadt von Freiheit has a population of 5351, only 200 of that being guards of some kind, while relatively 2500 are children. And that brings us to one of the most important facets of the city. Monterabettosi made many scientific strides over the years and thirty-nine years ago one of those was his long held agreement with Sascha and her clan. It had taken far longer than he could ever have suspected, but after so many years he finally discovered the cure to the Bounts sterility, one of the things the majority of their people lamented. It was no real surprise that upon this discovery thousands signed up and within five years the population exploded with over half its previous number, and within another ten it doubled.
The Prettiest Princess Goes to War
Over the thousands of years together Alece and Sascha had become a couple and were eventually married, the first but certainly not the last of such couplings in Freiheit. Upon discovering the cure for the Bounts sterility it was Sascha who volunteered to carry the first child outside of experiments to term to see if it was the miracle it seemed. After becoming pregnant (achieved via a gigai, though this meant any shinigami/bount pairings in the future would have 100% bount children with none of the shinigamis features) it quickly became obvious that there was one big difference between human children and Bount, they came to term incredibly slowly. In the end it takes almost a full three years for a Bount to undergo the same type of “trimesters” a human child would.
Naturally this caused no end of concern but lots of thorough scanning ensured it was growing well, if incredibly slowly. Then one day just a few days short of the three year mark Sascha went into labor, and after a rather expedient (if painful) process the very first naturally born Bount, Jacquelinia, came into being. She was nothing special, but that was what made her special, she was healthy and a baby, she was the key to the future for a race that had long been persecuted and had no way to replenish its numbers. It was not but a few days after the news of the success spread that the previously mentioned pregnancy boom exploded, those who had previously been weary about undergoing the procedure now convinced.
Over her first few years Jacquelinia Elizibetiana Monterabettosi (the first name being a mixture of both parents cultures, the middle being Johnathans (her god-father) suggestion) was nothing more than a child. Anything of note about her was not herself but rather the scientific knowledge that flourished because of her existence. Though Moterabettosi had no desire to inflict to much study on her and Sascha forbid it they still managed to get some important data. First and foremost Bount children aged, they were not immortal, they did it at about 1/3 the rate of a human but however slowly it might be most would not live past 270-300 depending on health. They do however adopt all their parents physical powers, though with most parents being incredibly protective of them (this after all being the first chance any Bount has had to have a child) few ever learn to use them. Lastly their need for spiritual energy is not nearly so great as an original bount and they can often be fed latent lingering reiatsu in their general area and receive the same effect a natural bount would have to consume a soul to receive. This is likely due to the fact that they actually age and so they do not need such high levels to keep them “young”.
Eventually once she was old enough to speak it became obvious she was mentally capable. This was the last concern about the birth and with it resolved it was now clear the research was a success, Bount sterility could be cured and the children born of them would be completely normal in the context of a Bount. As Jacquelinia continued to grow two things became known about the fledgling culture. Because of their appearance and the protectiveness the parents felt toward them they often treated them as younger than they were, similarly the children reacted to this by retarding their mental growth. Jacquelinia was ten but still appeared but a little over three in human comparison, as such most treated her like a baby. She responded to this by acting more like a four or five year old than her true age. Still after a public meeting was held on this matter it was decided that things should just be allowed to flow naturally, and with their longer lifespans there was no real harm in them being treated as children for longer than average.
So Jacquelinia was sheltered most of her life and to her the “outside world” meant out in the city where she made some friends over the years. Her mother trained her enough to understand what a Bounts Doll was and what action needed to be taken should hers ever activate, but otherwise there wasn't much “training” to speak of. Instead most of her life was spent placating her father by attending political functions, going to school, and later torturing her parents by doing what all teenagers do.
That was of course until one day ago. The Shinigami finally found Stadt von Freiheit. In the opening minutes of their arrival things went hostile as they were fought back. Long expecting this to happen and also believing a much larger force would be on its way Monterabettosi had developed an escape route from the dimension. While he went off to battle Sascha took their daughter to the gate and sent her through it, telling her it would take her to a friends home where she would be safe. Presumably her mother had then gone back to join in the fight.
To Monterabettosis surprise however once the initial hostilities calmed down they were able to convey their true purpose. Being true to his word it seemed Kazuma never intended to come after Monterabettosi but was instead after the numerous “criminals”, shinigami who had run away for various reasons, they had kept safe in Freiheit. In an attempt to keep things peaceable he agreed to go meet Kazuma to speak about the matter. Once the shinigami were gone from Freiheit Sascha left to go recollect Jacquelinia whom they had prematurely sent away. However, upon arriving at the warps destination she was nowhere to be find.
Something has gone terribly wrong with the transference and meanwhile Jacquelinia now finds herself in a desert of white sands.
Additional Info
Jacquelinia is not a skilled fighter. As the child of a Shinigami and a Bount who was long persecuted she has of course received a degree of training like almost all children in Freiheit. However at the same time (as described in several areas above) few are given the same degree of training they would receive outside, most living in Freiheit to be at peace. Jacquelinia has had the same experience and this means while she could hold her own against a regular human or some of the lowest level spirits she would stand no real chance against a shinigami/hollow/arrancar or even human of even moderate spiritual strength. Her small size and reiatsu enhanced speed might allow her to dodge for a period however.
Will be added in detail once revealed, however Jacquelinias role is not that of a fighter but instead an observer of a larger story who may occasionally be forced into a small skirmish.

Doll
Will be added in detail once revealed, however Jacquelinias role is not that of a fighter but instead an observer of a larger story who may occasionally be forced into a small skirmish.
