Ar Tonelico: Melody of Lunaris
Ar tonelico, the infinity tower. Stretching majestically through the clouds of poison smoke that cover the world, Sol Ciel, through the floating ring island and up even further, high into the clouds beyond ones line of site into the far reaches of the atmosphere. It ended far above where no eyes, be they human or reyvateil, had ever seen except for the administrators themselves. Above the skies were blue and clouds loitered lazily through the sky as a few birds sailed along a strong updraft. Suddenly three large shadows cut across the sky and quickly dived downward, they were airships but these were not the sleek beasts of the upper-world Platina but instead massive bulky flying silver boxes with engines strapped on there backs, symbols on the sides showed they were of the resistance.
Descending quickly they passed multiple layers of the towers “strata” heading down toward where the lower lands lay, as they got closer one could see the entirety of the lands lay in smoke. Blasting through it they came to a changed world from the green flora that decorated the outside of the tower and blue skies above, the land was on fire, thousands of people ran back and forth below as they did battle and the sky was filled with smoke so thick the sun could not penetrate it. As if in a coordinated effort the bottoms of all three ships opened at the same time as they came in low on a large group of combatants. Black casks were dropped with little attention to accuracy on the unsuspecting forces below which were comprised of both sides, and in a moments time they went up in flames never knowing why they had died. The three silver ships darted off back above the smoke, likely preparing there next payload while behind them countless more made their descent.
In the year 4932, countless centuries and even millennia after the world was conversed in the now nearly tranquil miasmatic poison cloud a curse befell the tower of Ar Tonelico. A previously peaceful land turned to war when an all reyvateil nation known as Etealune arose. Convinced that reyvateils were the only beings who deserved life they waged a war of purification, however with the sacrifice of countless human lives as well as the aid of reyvateils who did not wish for such a future the nation was defeated. However in its place the Sisterhood of Lune remained. The remnants of the old nation this new group took the old beliefs and twisted them to an extent so that they would only benefit those reyvateils they wished to be benefited. The humans greatly depleted in number could not face the reyvateil force who thanks to their great song magics replenished with far greater speed, over the next ten years almost all of the human villages in the upper portions of the tower were captured and enslaved.
Instead of total annihilation this new perverse offshoot of Etealune aimed to conquer all humans and use them as little more than pack animals. Now over fifty years later a fierce war rages between the two, thus humans of the lower tower refusing to ever give up and the reyvateils of the upper tower always pressing down and in fact ever growing stronger as more and more powerful reyvateils are drawn to their side both vie for dominance. Above all there is talk that the administrator herself may be at the head of the conquering force herself, if this is true then the rebellion wages war not only on the superior reyvateil forces but a figure that is indeed godlike as the controller of the tower. And in the background of the rebellion a religious movement takes place amongst the civilian populace which speaks of a second administrator that will come to save them all.
Chapter 1: Ciel ni Rum
Far off in the distance a giant pillar of flame shot into the air as more explosive casks were dropped. The pilots might not have truly known what happened after they released their payloads but down here you could hear the cacophony of screams for hundreds of meters as people were burned alive. Of course those screams just blended in to the great tapestry of noise that surrounded any battle, other dieing screams as someone was cut down or turned inside out with song magic, others giving out victory roars, the clash of blades and other wholly disturbing sounds.
It was the biggest battle either side had known in nearly two decades, it would later go on to be known as the Battle of the Vector Plate after where it took place but another name included the Vector Plate Massacre. Of course it wouldn't just be a massacre for one side, it was for everyone, over ninety percent of both sides forces committed to the battle would be killed leaving both sides drained for half a decade at a minimum and capable of only minimal skirmishes until then. Three thousand Sisterhood of Lune reyvateils and their countless slave vanguards battled a force of nearly fifteen thousand rebels, and while the rebellion did in fact have reyvateils they were certainly far fewer than those in the Sisterhood. What sparked the incident is something of fierce debate, some suggest that the rebellion got word of what the Sisterhood was trying to accomplish here but far more believe that both sides being at their peak numbers in their entire existence finally just decided to throw their all into the matter. Either way it would be a tragic mistake as it would only take countless lives, neither side making any progress in their attempted goals, save one giant achievement that a small group of rebellion members would make, saving countless civilian lives.
Here, in this landscape we found Aurora, one of the three leaders of the resistance and the top reyvateil in command as she stood with her back to a large pillar of debris that had no doubt fallen from above, peering around through the thick smoke in an attempt to find her opponent in just one of the countless battles taking place around them. At just that moment a series of fighters came flying overhead causing the ground to shake and all sound to be drowned out, experience taking over Aurora popped out from cover and found that the vanguard, a savagely deformed man who could barely be called one, had indeed been waiting for such an opportunity to mask the sound of his approach as he charged forward. She ascertained something of recognition that he had been caught in his face but it didn't last long, before he could dodge Aurora produced a small pistol from her coat and shot him in the head ending his no doubt pained existence.
Before having time to congratulate herself though a pink ball of energy came accelerating toward her position, luckily while Aurora was no physical fighter her body was used to activity and was therefore acrobatic. So placing one hand on the ground she performed a cartwheel out of its way where upon in continued for several more seconds before exploding in a ball of power, creating a small crater shortly behind her. By the time she had turned on her attacker four females had crawled from behind the cover the vanguard had come from just shortly before, their clothes marked them as reyvateils of the Sisterhood of Lune...if Aurora had been the sort to make jokes she would have likened such outfits to bondage wear, at the very least they were certainly to skimpy for a modest woman. Of course mistaking them as anything less than cold blooded egotistic killers because of that would have been your death.
It was common practice for the Sisterhood to attempt recruitment of any reyvateil they found in the field into their order, however this land was already soaked with blood and it was clear no such rituals could take place here. So it was no surprise when the four girls all raised their hands and began chanting, quickly summoning pink balls of energy like the one from before. However Aurora made no attempt to run as she wouldn't have survived anyway, she first held her gun up and shot the girl who she deemed was the fastest chanter with no ceremony watching her spill over on to her back and not get up. She didn't need to be told she had no more ammo and tossed the weapon to the ground and then held her own hands out to her sides and began chanting her own song, there was immediate recognition in the three remaining girls faces as they realized she was far superior in both chanting speed and power to them. Her hands began to glow bright orange as swirling purple, black and orange balls formed in her palms and the words flowed with unnatural speed out of her mouth, the words sped up and them came to an abrupt end as the other girls continued to try and speed their own casting up.
It ended “baldou ciel basallic, Ar Tonelico.”
The light exploded from her hands and turned into two long laser like explosions extending from each palm, they engulfed all three girls who were still trying to finish their spells and no doubt incinerated them in the process. The blasts continued into the sky and a passing enemy fighter who spotted it too late and tried to evade ended up plummeting straight into the ground, sending another massive fireball into the air. Aurora took in the situation and sighed, she looked high up on a raised plateau that sat in the middle of the battlefield. She didn't know what they were doing up there but it was where she had to go, her attune ears could pick up a powerful long-winded chant being sung from there, it might even be a hymn and where there was a hymn there was a good chance something bad was going to happen. Aurora looked around and carefully began making her way through the battlefield, with no weaponry she could be in trouble if a competent vanguard found her, even she couldn't sing as fast as a blade...worse yet she was one of the first this deep in enemy territory and in fact most of the enemy and fighting was now behind her, but that meant she also would have almost no chance of significant back-up.
Regardless Aurora never fretted...she never showed any emotion, she was going to die someday, if anything that would simply affirm her believed philosophy that existence was pointless.

The pounding of hundreds of footsteps filled the room. Like herd of elephants they made there way down the halls and to the hanger. A man on the intercom system could he heard yelling. “All soldiers get down to the hanger. Repeat all soldiers down to the hanger.” A young man who appeared to be no older then 20 was wrestling with his clothes to get them on. He wore black combat boots, black slacks, a tan tank top, and a leather jacket over the tank top. He grabbed a belt and slid his two knives onto it. He snapped it on and pulled the strap tight so it would hold. He then grabbed a katana and put a strap onto it and hung it over his shoulder so that the handle stuck up past his right shoulder. The young boys name was Zack; he had an athletic build to him and stood at six feet tall.
He opened the door and ran out in a attempt to catch up with the other group. His black hair fluttered in the wind as he ran full blast. When he caught up with the others he slowed down as they made there way to the hanger. When they entered the hanger the silver boxes that where the rebellion transport ships where taking off with there passengers. With the massive amount of troops that where being sent this was sure to be one hell of a battle.
Zack waited as they where sent to different transport ships. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes as he said a silent prayer. He felt a push against his back, he opened his eyes and saw a guy yelling at him and telling him where to go. It couldn’t be considered yelling with all of the noise from the ships. As he ran into the transporter he grabbed the railing bar. The hatch slowly closed and the noise of the room slowly drowned out. The humming of the engines grew in noise as the started to take off. Red lights flashed on inside to let the soldiers see. The ship rocked as it went into the air. This was indeed going to be a long day, and another haunting memory.
As they neared the battle field explosions and the harmonic screams of the dieing penetrated the hull. A fighter flew right over the cargo ship layering it with bullets. A man fell on Zack; the warm blood flowed onto his shoulder as his aorta artery squirted out the blood onto his face. Zacks breathing grew fast as he pushed the dieing solider off of him. He kneeled down and pulled out his knife, the blade pointed out if his hand as a tear grew into his eye. Zack stopped breathing as the others watched. He took one quick long breath and raised his arm up and then, it was done. The blade penetrated his skull, all eight inches of it killing the man instantly. It was the “humane” thing to do, the solider would have just suffered as he died anyway. He pulled his knife out and wiped the blood off as he sheathed it. Then a thud was heard, and it was obvious that they had landed.
The hatch opened slowly as the sight and smell of death to hold inside of you. Three of the other soldiers puked right there. But Zack held himself, he was use to the smell and the sight, it was as familiar to him as to him as the warm water of a shower. He closed his eyes and reopened and ran out of the transporter. He grabbed his sword and pulled it out as he ran onward towards the battle. He saw his comrades locked in a battle against several of the enemy’s vanguard and reyvateil. The Reyvateil stayed back and sent there spells at the resistance’s vanguards. The only way that he saw to win this was go around. He looked over at the other troops behind him, there where about twenty or so and said. “I need ten of you to flank around the left the others come with me!” With that said he flanked to the right. As the neared the Reyvateils he smiled and said. “To death!” He ran full blast at one that was charging a spell. It turned to great him as it was finishing its casting. He pulled out his knife and threw it straight for its head. The knife hit before the spell was finished. He ran up to the body and pulled out the knife and continued on. Several of the vanguards retreated to protect the Reyvateils. He ran towards three of them with his sword drawn. And just in time, a spell had been cast right where he was, bits of flesh and intestines hit his back from one of his fallen comrades. Looks like this might be my final resting place. He thought as he continued on at the Vanguard.

The bit of rubble fell over, crumbling downwards off the small hill-like area. The one who caused the rubble to fall - a male reyvateil, dressed in the sisterhood's classic Vanguard uniform of a male slave. A cruel shield gripped in his hands, he batted away more rubble, but ended up also whaking himself in the shoulder, before beckoned forth his cohorts - two reyvateils. The two girls looked like twins, of teenage age, shimmering golden hair, pale skin and ultimately revealing clothes that were made for movement as well as appearance. They sighed, rolling their eyes at their dumb guard.
"God, they get dumber and more brutish."
"Seriously. They're not like they used to be.I still feel bad for Squad G52 . . . were they not ahead of us?"
"Yeah, but
The guard snorted, then proceeded down the hill. He kicked a path clear for the girls. An explosion sounded off overhead, the result of the nearby battle. The girls and the guy's job was to be a small flanking party, just one of many being employed to use this tactic. This group, however, was being a little less cautious than needed. The male guard stood still once he reached the bottom of the hill, and the two reyvateils questioned him about this at once.
"What's with the halt?"
He pointed, his gloved hand leading right to a spatter of blood. This spatter was trailed closely by the boot of the blood's owner - with more of a bloody fraim following. The reyvateil walked over, kicking him.
"Ah . . . here's G52's vanguard."
The other girl scanned the area. She had noted that G52's firearm was missing, as well as the fact that the G52 reyvateils were gone, with no other body around. Suspicious. She looked to her sister worriedly.
"Ariel...I'm worried. Come on, let's keep moving. . ."
And the older twin, Aerith, took a step forward - and fell over with the crack of a pistol going off at the same time. Blood came out of her neck as her hands clutched for it wildly, but she was drowning in a pool of it already. Ariel screached, and the guard dashed forward as a lithe figure came from behind a wall of rubble, holding the former gun of G52.
Red and black hair covered the man's grey eyes, but that didn't stop him from raising the pistol in his right hand again, aiming at the guard. He was shorter than the guard, but something about his build suggested that he could take him on anyways.
"Freeze, Lune scum. Stay where you are, no sudden moves. I have a question for the reyvat-"
Then the man lifted his gun hand higher and fired a shot. It landed into the guards's shoulder, and the guard promptly dropped the concealed throwing knife he had, his hand instead clutching his new wound. The man sighed again.
"I said, no movement . . . now, Girl, tell me something before you die. Do you know anything about project 56129?"
A gulp and a shake told him all he needed to know. He had let his guard down getting his answer, though - and the vanguard rushed forward, ready to bash him with his shield. The man in black ducked it last minute - and two gunshot wounds peppered the guard's chest. He fell, but showed that the girl was casting song magic. The man walked forward slowly, aimed his gun, and pulled the trigger - only to find his ammo at zero. He tossed it aside nonchalantly, but the magic caster shot her spell at him - a small fireball. It moved towards his quickly, and hit him with . . .a whirring sound?
Smoke engulfed and then dissapeared. The man was still there - but his left arm had changed a bit. A small mechanical component was visable, and a strange energy field swallowed his arm like a shield. The girl fell back, scared as he was upon her, standing over her.
"W-who are you?"
He leaned over, and smiled.
"Yata. Your former lab rat."
---
Yata wiped the blood from his hands, sighing. Bashing someone's face in always got blood on him in some way. He looked about, and about the same time the area in front of him got blown away by some ray of obvious deadly capacity. He looked over, seeing that a nearly-clear path was cut - and that he was closer to enemy lines than he thought. He hadn't been walking that long, had he? A quick compass check showed that he had wandered off-course and was where he was. Damn, this sucked . . . he had hoped to avoid the major slaughtering. He looked down, and thought he saw the small finger of a girl. Odd, the spell that had cleared the way seemed obliterave. He followed it's origens, his shield active, wondering where it would lead him.

OOC: I might just redo this completely, I'm not sure yet.
While the battle was raging on down below, a lone man stood by the large window of his office, gazing out over the vast sky and the smoke covered land below. With his left arm behind his back, and a coffee mug in his right hand, he stood there silently as he occasionally took a sip, the large headgear covering the upper portions of his face nearly being in the way. The man was Darian Hyer, well renowned as one of Sol Ciel's most brilliant Scientists.
Right then, he stood there clad in his usual clothes. A black striped white and black vest, buttoned up on his stomach, his white suit under it, and the fine trousers he wore on his legs. But most conspicuous of all was the three glowing red lines that covered the surface of the visor he wore on his face, a device which helped him see. There was more strange things about the man, of course, but he was no idiot, and held those things hidden from view. However a perceptive person would still be able to notice it.
One such person was just about to enter the room he was in, in fact.
With a light knock on the steel door, followed by some buttons being pressed the door slid open revealing the form of a young female. She had long light brown hair which was tied up in a knot, with a bit of it hanging down past her shoulders and two bangs hanging down on each side of her face. Her face was a blend between cute, beautiful and ordinary. And as she walked inside the first thing which would catch ones attention would be the white coat, resembling a standard lab coat, which she had on her, buttoned up almost all the way to her neck. But what was visible under it was a green shirt and a form of red tie which hanged outside it. As she walked the coats lower sections parted occasionally which revealed her slightly over knee length brown trousers and black 'high heel' shoes ((sandals? I'm really unfamiliar with the english words for this)).
"Good evening, Aya." Darian said without turning from the window, having seen her reflection in the glass, as well as recognizing the sound of her footsteps. "H-Hello Dr. Hyer" She responded, sounding slightly nervous, or maybe worried. Hearing this Darian turned from the window to face her, and when doing so he scanned her face with more detail, and noticed that she indeed did look worried. "Hmm, whats the matter Aya? You look pale." He asked, sounding genuinely concerned. The girl herself looked away, out the window and sighed. "Its... Its nothing, I'm just... A little anxious about the battle below, it might end up deciding this war..." She said, though her voice sounded worried, Darian could tell there was more to it than that. After all, he had worked with her for the past four years.
"There is no need to worry yourself. Many will die, many of both sides. Its an inevitable slaughter where neither of them is willing to give ground, which will just result in a battle of foolish pride where everyone loses. However our place is secure, whether the rebels would gain the upper hand or not, they cannot reach us here without the forces they are now losing down below." Darian said with confidence, he had been studying logs of the battle and been keeping slightly up to date with what was going on.
"I see..." Aya replied, though she did not sound too reassured with how calmly Darian had spoken of the battle below. "I will get back to work now, then..." She said hesitantly as she walked up to the desk at the other end of the room, a wooden desk with a simple design made of fine quality wood, and put down a small stack of papers on an empty space. Giving a respectful bow ((Curtsey?)) Aya walked out of the office.
Just a few minutes later he got an urgent message of someplace he 'needed to be'.
-----Forty Minutes Later-----
Darian has expected the place he needed to be was near the warzone, due to how urgent it had been, but this was ridiculous!
Looking around the scientist could see battles all over the place, with constant explosions off in the distance. He and a large group of Reyvateil and their vanguards were smack dab in the middle of the frickin warzone! All which protected them from the constant barrages of bullets and song magic was that they were atop a huge tower-like hill which made them hard to see. Although all that annoying chanting from several of the Reyvateil was getting on his nerves.
What he was there for, was infact to help in the salvaging of a Hymn Crystal, prety standard procedure for him, though it had never been this urgent... Possibly due to that the rebels could get their hands on it if they did not hurry, but Darian was not so stupid as to not see it as a potential trap. Afterall, they had been doubting him recently.
After finishing with his thoughts he turned toward the large group that was gathered around the encassed Hymn Crystal and began to walk toward it, bringing out a few 'tools' to bypass its security.

Aurora walked along, half paying attention half plumbing the depths of her mind for data. She seemed to recall she had been here at one time or another, recalling things from so long ago was a difficult affair and even assuming she had been here recalling what this particular hymn crystal did was an altogether different matter.
Hymn crystals were devices that stored ancient songs that connected directly with the tower and interacted with specialty programs, taking down a server here or turning on a generator there. In Auroras mind perhaps the greatest failing of the ancient civilization was putting so little protection on these devices, any reyvateil could download and sing the song for their own purpose. Of course she realized this was because they had been created during an age when only a few origins existed and the transfer and keeping of such hymn crystals was a strictly regulated affair. Regardless it had been a terribly short sighted way of doing things and now allowed people who could barely understand the powers with which they toyed to change things dramatically for the worse in most cases. It was in these musings that the pieces clicked into place and Aurora immediately recalled what this crystal was for, yet despite the fact that she now realized just how much danger she and everyone else was in she kept up her steady gait and showed no emotion on her face as to what she might be thinking about the matter.
Aurora overheard the sound of armored bodies running from further ahead though the smoke was low and close to the ground here making it impossible to see just how close. The smoke was so thick here because it was an area that had been bombed out not to long ago. That being the reason Aurora was using it to progress figuring it a safer place to be than anywhere else, for that reason also it was peppered with craters from the dropped casks. Aurora broke into a quick run and threw herself into one of the nearby darkened blotches of earth, along with blackened dirt there were countless body parts strewn about or at the very least she realized thats what they were as even though they were black and charred beyond recognition many still had armor on. Though it was no longer on fire the ground was still cooking like an oven from the magics contained within the casks and were just a little short of burning her, regardless she ignored the pain, better a little crispy than dead. She crawled up to the edge and peered over just in time to see half a dozen armored troopers headed out toward the battle, in all truth she doubted they would have spotted her even if she hadn't been hiding thanks to this thick smoke but just in case she waited until they passed.
And so it was for the first time in a decade Aurora could remember being taken off guard. She was watching the vanguards disappear into the smoke from the direction she had just come one moment and the next she had a pair of arms wrapped around her neck and a blade being plunged at her face. Luckily her assailant had clearly been improvising and wasn't used to this sort of thing as the grab was too high so that she could immediately start wriggling free while the jab with the dagger was from a bad angle. Even so if it had been a vanguard, or really any male for that matter since she was a rather petite little thing, she probably couldn't have stopped it. However with a quick flip and a throw she found that the attacker was another of the Lune Reyvateils, perhaps one who had been assigned to the plateau and just got lucky enough to spot her from behind due to her lack of vanguard support. The girl flipped once and threw the dagger she had tried to stab Aurora with into her right hand, she then quickly charged while Aurora looked erratically back and forth for something to fight back with. Spotting something just in the knick of time she lunged underneath the girls blow, grasped the object and spun around just as the girl did. She swung hard like a baseball bat and hit the girl right in the temple...with the still armored shoulder portion of the severed arm she had just wielded.
The girl dropped to the ground without a warning as anyone would with such a hard metallic blow to such a sensitive region. Aurora didn't know if she would live or not, she didn't really care but either way she wouldn't be getting up for several hours at the least. She dropped the arm, never really giving thought as to the fact that she had just wielded someones severed arm like a weapon and walked forward pulling the decorated knife up from where it had dropped on the ground, it would be better than nothing and unlike the girl she knew how to kill from behind. She was just about to move forward when a sharp ping went off in her skull, unlike third generations she was intensely aware of any harmonic generators or lines around her and without even looking she knew one of the Lune reyvateils experiments was near. She turned around and saw the dark figure up on the edge of the crater and without waiting began chanting, immediately a ball of energy formed in her hand. It was similar to the pink balls most reyvateils used as their base spell but was rolling orange and black and her chanting speed and power formed it in a tenth of the time, immediately firing off at him with no need to throw.
She didn't know who this man was or if she stood a chance, he was clearly one of the Lune Reyvateils symphonic play-things. She however did realize one thing as the hymn being sung in the background grew loud enough to just be heard on the edge of a regular humans hearing, their one and only saving grace was that the one they decided to download the song into seemed to be out of her league in this matter. Hymns carried through the symphonic power lines and could be heard through the entire tower when at full power, since the girls voice was barely a whisper on the wind they still had plenty of time before the hymn built up in strength. Aurora briefly mused that if she was in the girls position everyone here would already be dead, of course if this man proved a difficult target she would hardly have time for musing at all, being dead herself and all.

OOC: Incase you didn't notice, I added a bit to my last post before GK posted. And yah, not so great post, but meh. GK, tell me if I should change anything, I'm going mostly by assumptions here @_@
After safely arriving at the location of the Hymn Crystal, Darian and his 'team' had first of all secured a perimeter around the crystal itself. The task had proven easy due to the location of the crystal, it was prety high up, so only flyers could really reach them directly, and even then the rebel flyers was for the most part not sleek enough to get past their own and reach them this far into their own territory.
However this did not mean they could slack off, as the crystal itself was well protected and any disturbances at all could ruin the operation. Darian himself however was mostly waiting for the guards to give the clear sign while he surveyed the crystal from a few meters away, while occasionally checking or adding information to a hand-held device that was about a fot in length, with a screen taking up half the space on it.
"Alright, that will do just fine." He said without looking up from the device, but of course with him you could truly never tell due to his goggles which obscured his eyes, though his face was angled down toward it. Hearing this several of the female Reyvateil, most of them third-generation ones, positioned themselves around the crystal while they waited for him to disable the defenses on it. Though several of them was whispering among themselves, and what little he picked up from where he stood it did not sound like compliments exactly.
Whenever he was ordered outside of his usual quarters Darian tended to take on a long white lab coat like most others of his position, clear white with a double set of black buttons on the front and a Church of Lune symbol on his right arm just below his shoulder. Over this he wore several leather straps that hanged loosely off his belt or around his shoulders, and it was on one of these that he now fastened the small monitoring device he had been fiddling with. And once done he grabbed a set of smaller tools from another strap and pointed his free hand at the crystal, which signaled for two vanguard which had been staying a little distance behind everyone else to carry the heavier equipment to it.
Once they had placed the one meter x one meter large metal box about two meters from the crystal, Darian himself walked inside the circle of Reyvateil and began to set it up, carefully connecting cables from within the box to a platform underneath the crystal, occasionally stopping to look at his monitoring device. Things were going really well, more so than usual infact as he seemed to get it all set up correctly straight away, but it still took nearly ten minutes to affix all the cables and make a double check on the insides of the 'box' which was more of a super advanced computer designed for the sole reason of breaking Hymn Crystal defenses.
The reason this device was necessary at all however was due to there being no Reyvateil who fully understood how the Hymn Crystals worked among the Church of Lune, atleast they did not let Darian's division know about it, and so he needed to use that to interact with the crystals inner 'programming', as he was uncapable of either song magic or synching with the tower.
"Good, this looks to be right." He said silently to himself as he connected his monitoring device to the box and watched the information that appeared on the small screen. 'Everything seems normal, nothing out of the ordinary, though the defenses seem a little tighter than regular. Well, better get to work before they get impatient.' Darian thought as he scratched his chin with his left hand while holding the device in his right.
Once he had begun his work to disable the defenses of the crystal, the first of the Reyvateil began to sing, beginning to establish a connection with the crystal, and as he worked to disable more layers of protection others joined in and soon nearly all of them was singing in tune as only one more lock remained. "Would you please quite down, I'm trying to concentrate." Darian said out loud though not really shouting, this earned him nasty glares from the ones already singing and a little more from the few that wasn't, some of them almost lost their synch too. 'Guess not...'
It took him nearly twenty minutes, but in the end Darian managed to bypass the final lock which was displayed to everyone nearby by the crystal itself flashing with a bright light once, before returning to its previous state. "And... There." With those words Darian pressed the final button and disconnected his 'machine' from the crystal, which was when the last few joined into the hymn.
Having finished what he came there for, Darian gave out a sigh of relief as he wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead. Despite it looking simple, the final lock was usually the most complex and held the most danger if he would mess up, so no matter how confident he was he was always slightly worried. There was however one more reason why it had taken so long. Darian was a very careful person, and he knew full well that his superiors might very well be planning to have him removed. What better place than a warzone?
Thus he had not simply disabled the last defense, merely rigged it to go off at his command. He knew in detail what the 'trap' would do, and thus he knew it would serve as a good distraction incase they decided to do it here. But having no reason to suspect such actions just yet, he simply walked out of the circle of singing Reyvateil, back toward where most of his equipment was laying, and near the edge of the platform they were on stood a small (by standards) ship which belonged to his research division and was mostly used by Darian to transport the equipment.

(OOC: Sorry for it being so short)
The sand was sent into the air along with dust and as Zack ran to the advancing three Vanguards. He sheathed his sword as he neared them. He pushed off the ground and went into a summersault; the Vanguard in the middle went to move his sword with Zack put his hands on the ground as he rolled right in front of him. He pushed off of the ground with his hands sending his feet right in the man’s face. He used all of his muscle to throw himself to his feet while pulling out his knife, his feet still on the man’s face. He made a 180 degree turn as he walked off the man’s face.
The two other vanguards turned around and went to slice him, both sliced across near his waste level. Zack jumped into the air and went for a front flip. While upside down he moved his knife across the man to the right of him, throat. AS he hit the ground he kicked dust into the other mans eyes. He grabbed his arm as he went to slice him and kneed him in the gut, he then proceeded to push him to the ground razing his right hand, which held his knife, and went to stab the man. The man raised his left hand and grabbed Zack’s before he could kill him. He put his foot to Zack’s chest and kicked him off causing zack to drop his knife. He pulled out his other knife and threw it into the man right as he got up. The man’s blood trickled down his body and onto Zack’s foot until he fell right on top of him.
Zack was fortunate that the man fell on top of him because as soon as he did a Reyvateil walked over to him and shot him. The Reyvateil raised its arm ever so slightly to the point that it would shoot Zack right in the head. Zack pushed the body off of him making the female Reyvateil jump and panic trying to get it off of her quickly. As she pushed it to the side the “shing” sound of Zack’s katana coming out of its sheath could be heard. A slight war cry could be heard as he pierced the Reyvateil threw the chest. His blade was stopped by her spinal cord. Zack closed his eyes as he pulled his blade out ever so slightly and pushed it back in going straight threw her Spinal cord this time. When his blade was on the other side he turned it and ripped it back out. As sight escaped his lips as she fell to the ground, dropping her pistol. Zack kneeled down and picked it up, shacking it to get off the dust and blood. He put it inside his jeans and proceeded to collect his knives.
“What in the world is that sound?” When he said this he heard a hymn coming from what seemed to be everywhere and nowhere. “Collin! Jenkins! Come with me!” As he said this he sheathed his sword and ran straight for the tower. Whatever that noise is, its getting louder and I don’t wana find out what happens when it finishes.

Yata's stroll through the battlefield was not the pleasant sunday walk many would perfer. He didn't encounter any living foes - dead bodies were what he generally found. Maimed, shot, and blown to itty bitty bits by spells. Well, nothing the dark haired adventurer hadn't seen before. He continued onwards, following what he considered the "main" path - marked by the largest paths of destruction, obviously from at least a squad of reyvateils, with obvious power. As Yata continued his walk, he spotted a nice rifle clutched in a hand's grasp - though the hand itself had nothing attached to it. He plucked the hand off, then checked out the rifle. Obvously made for range, it had a small sighting scope made for sniping. He checked the cartridge - 7 shots left. He adjusted the strap and then swung it onto his back. With all of this fighting going on, you never knew when some devious target practice could come into hand.
And then Yata climbed from the edge of the latest crater he had been traversing and there she was - a reyvateil, who without warning turned on him and began chanting. He braced himself, ready to roll out of the way if he could as this spell would give him ample time to do so. However, this girl was different - it was ready way to soon and was coming at him way to fast. The only thing that filled his ears was the sound of whirring mechanisms.
The spell hit him and engulfed him in smoke. However, even the pink haired female would have been able to see that he was still alive - or at least the corpse was standing - amidst the smoke. A gust of wind blew it away to reveal Yata's left arm shield activated, but shuddering before the energy collapsed and went away. Hot damn, he didn't realized how little energy he had had left in him. If she had used a more powerful spell without her song magic reaching him, he'd have been a goner. It was then that he realized who the female was - one of his superiors. The Baroness herself. Yata instantly fell to the ground, on one knee, with his head bent downwards.
"I'm not a hostile!" He called out, hoping that she wouldn't melt him with a death lazer. With this act of surrender - or would she see it as cowardice? - he hoped she wouldn't attack.
"Lady Baroness, I am Yata Mador, one of the Resistance. Please allow me to travel with you for the time being during this time of war! It would not do to have our Baroness harmed (though that seems a little difficult with your powers)."
OOC: the ( ... ) is an aside, so she may or may not hear it, he's more or less talking to himself.
