I know, but back in the day(90's lol) that kinda trash would not have got any air time but with the teenie bopper controlled market of the new millennium tons of artists like him are becoming stars. think its ridiculous. If it were only him then id be ok with it. but hes just one out of hundreds of new artists begging for a mic with nothing to say

Yeah it is unfortunate. Most rap is pretty terrible, about the only rap I like is the stuff by Black Eyed Peas, and I don't even know if you'd call there stuff rap or not. *shrugs* I'm more of a Metallica person myself.

Maybe so ... but Soulja Boy isn't even considered a rap artist, people don't listen to his music because of his lyrics but to dance. There's ALOT of bullshit songs or 1 hit wonders from the past that made it through because of a DANCE.
For example.
1: The Macarena 2: Tootsie Roll 3: Da Butt 4: Bust-A-Move 5: Mambo No. 5
I can go all day, every genre has something that's considered "Bullshit" not just rap. But why be a hater? They're doing what they do and getting paid, sitting behind a computer screen screaming garbage isn't getting you paid.

Technically it is getting me paid *cough*. Anyway I agree I can't stand rap but then I also realize that like Roddo said to everyone theres going to be a genre that they can't stand so I just keep my preferences to myself. Arguing music online is the same as arguing religion or any other strongly held belief online, useless.

On rap, no im not hating. And i make my money other ways. Me on the computer is a past time. On soulja boy yes i am definetly hating along with all those artists you listed as well roddo but rap, no. I just dont listen to it anymore. No ones coming out with anything decent nowadays except a select few and most songs are about how much money they have so i feel no need to further support them since they are doing so well. And im sure if you listened to what i listen to you'd hate it. Its just preference no need to get riled up eh buds

I agree, it’s all preference and all of us at some-point will say something a little hypocritical because of our preferences. I’m sure we all have a genre that we dislike and even on occasion profess this dislike only to writhe in fury when someone says something about a genre that we like. Let’s not get heated here (brings out admin’s disciplinary ruler…)
Do I like rap? No. Do I respect it? No. That’s my right as my opinion is, in all things. People may not respect death metal, which I love, that’s fine. It’s not ignorance, its simply choice… a basic concept necessary to all thought. It’s unreasonable for anyone to assume that what they like should immediately garner respect simply because of its existence. Tolerance is a given, respect is earned. That is my humble and subjective opinion on the matter.
-Gahrok, out.
