Shinigami
Name:
Chiyo Iko (Chiyo= "Thousand Generations" Iko="Orphan")
Gender:
Female
Age:
Somewhere under 200, probably closer to 170-ish.
Division:
Kidou Mastery, Squad 7
Rank:
Vice-Captain
Physical Description:
Iko has the body of a slim, attractive young woman in her late teens at the oldest. Her frame is overall thin while still possessing a noticeably full bust, though not to the point that she would be considered to possess Orihimeism or Yoruichiism, or Matsumotoism... Nelielism... or Halibelism... I think you get the point, she is not endowed like most of the more powerful female characters but she is still very attractive and nubile to say the least. She, or would be in real life, considered albino, a factor that makes her appearance is very enigmatic, with few people who see her tending to hide in fear as if she were some kind of ghostly freak, a common fear held in many cultures that identify albinism with evil. However, since this is a fandom-built alternate reality of an anime which with anthropomorphic wolves, werecats, and 50 ft tall giants, her differences are only seen as unique traits and many see her as beautiful and pure, especially after getting to understand her personally.
Her pale skin having very little pigment that would tend to make it impossible for her to hide even the slightest rosy blushes, if not for her breathtaking eyes that draw attention away from her cheeks, being colored like large pale rubies that resemble the magnificent sun in the last minutes of a late sunset. Her hair is silky smooth and being a bright silver color that shines like the reflection of the full moon off a fresh layer of fallen snow, being styled mostly short and straight, flaring at the tips like soft downy feathers and possessing a few long loose braids that reach past her waist that flow and dangle in the wind. Her pretty body is not without its imperfections asides from the opinions of those that are put off by her pale complexion. From about her stomach down, covering her belly, waist and legs, are the lines of many light scars from when her lower body was totally crushed in an accident that left her to die if it wasn't for Keigo who managed to save her, and while the use of kido to heal her would have made these scars unnoticable to most people, her pale skin makes it nearly impossible to hide the remnant of her injuries completely. These scars constantly remind her of her inability to return the favor when he died.
Her base attire is only slightly atypical for a shinigami, wearing the black and white uniform as most shinigami do. She wears zori-style sandals instead of the usual straw waraji given that they are more comfortable for her feet, designed to be able to be slipped on and off easily instead of having to be tied up, sure they may sometimes fall off during battle, but seeing as she doesnt really run around a lot in battle, usually dispatching most enemies while remaining relatively stationary using ranged kido, it isn't a real problem unless she faces a highly mobile foe. She wears her vice-captain badge on her waist like a sash, similar to Rangiku. On special occasions, she wears a black yakata decorated with ornate silver flowers over her normal attire with a large yellow ribbon wrapped around her waist. While in this festive wear she may sometimes be seen carrying various assorted festive articles such as paper fans or umbrellas, but on any occasion she is more often seen carrying any number of musical instruments that she may decide to start playing in her free time, most often flutes and stringed instruments.
When she goes to the Living Realm in a gigai, she will often have various customizations done to it, sometimes making her eyes blue instead of red so to fit in better, and also lacking any scars from past injuries. She wears whatever she can find because there are way too many outfit choices in Tokyo to stick to one wardrobe, and the same applies to her hair. She'll usually be trying out whatever hairstyle is in fashion at the moment for teenagers, often dyed whatever color for the fun of it. Her gigai also usually has a couple piercings, but nothing that drastic mind you. Only ears or sometimes eyebrows for her. No oral piercings, how could she sing with a lip ring or a tongue stud? And there's damn no way in hell anyone's sticking a piece of metal where any self-respecting women is supposed to have covered up.

Personality:
Iko is a relatively energetic person by nature, who often tries her best to make other people around her feel better when in need. She is a musical person who often can be found listening to whatever may be popular in the real world at the moment or even more traditional, cultural music which is prevalent in Soul Society. Her outward attitude is often directly affected by whatever music may be playing in the background, and while she tends to not have any specific favorite music type, she tends to listen to classical, blues, jazz, ska, some country, rock, punk, emo, pop, metal, techno, hip-hop, some light rap, most music is great. She won't get pissy about swearing or profanity as long as it doesn't become too abused, but she'll never listen to something if it's nothing hateful or degrading. Snoop Dogg or Tupac can get away with their music, but Soulja Boy can go kill himself, seriously, some of those lyrics are just outright offensive to anyone with two X-chromosomes. Iko is pretty self-conscious regarding herself as a woman, and will not tolerate men who discriminate against women. That doesn't mean she herself can't be crude on occasion, being able to tolerate vulgar humor and is fairly well known to shout more than one profanity when frustrated or outright pissed off. While she can take sexual humor in good spirits, she has a serious bone to pick with people who are shamelessly promiscuous, she has little to no respect for people who sleep around or flaunt themselves without any self-respect or dignity or who toy with the emotions of others.
She is has a habit of being a big sister-type character who often finds comfort in comforting children who need comforting. She is easily infuriated by people who harm helpless children or her friends and will put herself in harms way to protect them from danger. She also has a soft spot for love stories and romance novels (though nowhere nearly as much for it to be considered, say, a "healthy interest" *cough*Lisayadomaru*cough*) but at the same time tries to avoid them because it is often when she reads them that she starts dwelling on memories of the past about her late husband. When she begins to think of sad thoughts like that she locks up and becomes very vulnerable to her negative emotions such as fear, sorrow, anger and regret, and often has to listen to lively, energetic music in order to snap out of it if she doesn't have a friend right there to help her out. She worries allot for her own captain, and doesn't like seeing him look down for whatever reason, because he is like a big brother to her. When given an order she tries her hardest to do as told with as little hassle as possible, and to the best of he ability. She doesn't ever want to trouble him with problems she feels she can handle on her own.
She often is very easily intimidated in the presence of her superiors, being very shy and timid when the captains of the other squads are nearby, there are a few exceptions, but any specifically will be mentioned later. She is very open and friendly in the presence of her fellow members of Squad 7, as well as with the other vice-captains from the other squads, and especially with Hana, the 3rd-seat of Squad 12 whom is like a really close sister to Iko... despite the fact that Hana is in fact secretly a boy... Iko suspects something isn't normal about Hana but doesn't know what it may be and accepts him for who she thinks she is, if she were to discover the truth about Hana she would be alright with it, albeit a bit betrayed that such a secret was kept from her for so long but she'd get over it. If she found out that he also secretly loves her, well, that might get really weird but she'd laugh it off before too long. She doesn't particularly feel intimidated by Captain Daichi from Squad Twelve, because of his own close bond to Hana (despite how much Minoru hates to say it, yes, he is like a 'daughter' to him) and that gives them something in common, as well as the fact that Minoru is just typically a nice guy to be around. If Hana is like a sister to Iko, and like a daughter to Minoru, does that make Minoru like a father to her? Nah, maybe more like an uncle or something like that. No matter the reason, Iko is a familiar face around the Squad Twelve facilities and is one of the few not from that division that is able to find her way around there.
She has a few phobias to make note of. She is afraid of the dark and does not like traveling alone at nighttime under any circumstances, and is easily frightened when in the dark. She is especially terrified of the dangai dimension, the long, dark pathways connecting Soul Society and the living world through the Senkaimon gate if one doesn't have a Hell Butterfly to create the lobby. So much that she will nine times out of ten refuse to enter the gate if there she has to traverse the transitional dimension between the two worlds. She would never go to Hueco Mundo if given the option.
She also doesn't like reckless violent people so she isn't the fondest of most of Squad 11, but she did enjoy the presence of Captain Nekomi before she met her fate, and she can understand the pain that most of them feel at the loss of their beloved little captain. or the former captain of Squad 9 for that matter. Given the dark nature of that squad, she tries to avoid them as much as possible under any circumstances. Even if their new captain used to be a former vice-captain, Laetitia scares the crap outta her plain and simple. Because of her fear of the dark, she used to also avoid the territory of Squad 2 at all costs at night given their uncanny tendency to sneak up on people even in broad daylight and the reputation of their late captain being a very mischievous troublemaker, but this isn't quite the case anymore because she trusts Tsuno, the new captain of Squad 2, given that they got alone as fellow-vice captains, as well as him being a frequent sparring partner with her own captain even before Tsuno's promotion to captaincy. She isn't sure what to think about Squad Ten or Captain Saigotschuu. She knows full well that a while ago, Yun and Hana used to be... involved, but they stopped seeing each other for... some reason she isn't aware of. She also knows that Yun likes girls with silver hair, so it's a especially awkward for Iko when Yun's in the same room given that he's pretty handsome himself. Not that anything ever would happen between them mind you, she's proud to be faithful to the memory of her beloved, even if he has been gone for at least a decade now.
She not only is absolutely unable to hold her alcohol, and utterly despises the evil substance. Why the hell does anyone chose to drink poison for fun? Life is way too precious to waste intoxicated and hung over, and she just isn't comfortable with not being in control of herself. She doesn't judge people who do choose to drink, in fact a certain best friend could be a real blast after she's had a few, but Iko really wishes that Hana knew to stop it at that and not go get wasted like she can be known to do. When her friend does get too much to drink, Iko usually just gets fed up with her and goes home. If she's out to drink with friends, she's settle with tea. Tea is good, tea is civilized and cultured. You can relax your soul with a nice cup of hot tea, you get a headache with alcohol. Headaches are bad, you can't analyze rhythm, melody or lyrics when drunk and you can't a beat with a hangover. Iko might only drink alcohol once a year if she's in a bad mood, and that's just to remind herself how much she hates the stuff so she can focus less on whatever was bothering her beforehand.
History:
About two centuries ago in what is now modern-day Karakura Town, in the heart of the worst blizzard of coldest winter in the past decade, a baby girl as beautiful as the snow were born into a large poor household with barely enough food to last until spring. The poor family was happy, nonetheless, and was able to stay warm by spending the long days huddled together under large blankets and ragged quilts. Unfortunately the lack of proper nutrition and poor sanitary conditions led to a outbreak of the flu which within a month killed off most of the children leaving only the parents and the baby, who had been named Iko.
This family, one that had managed to break free of poverty and become reasonably wealthy once spring came, was at it's end come the fall of the next year after when bandits had murdered the father, and sold the mother into slavery. They decided to keep the baby as she was remarkably unique having the finest pale skin, silver hair, and red eyes unlike anything they'd ever seen before. Some of the villainous men argued whether they'd keep her and raise her as a member of their crew or simply as a means of satisfying themselves once she'd grow older, while others were completely against the idea of keeping her because she had to be some sort of heavenly demon who would kill them all if they were to hurt her. They decided it be best not to harm her in any way but instead cherish her as their goddess of death. It wouldn't matter much either way, because her malnourished body died when she contracted malaria at the age of 4 months.
Her body was simply disposed of along a dirt roadside, and there the soul of baby Iko was alone, a plus soul too weak to attract the most desperate of hollows or even shinigami who could perform a soul burial. It seemed hopeless for the infant, but eventually she learned to stand and walk by observing the living who'd pass by the ditch her body was dumped in. Some people were able to claim that you could hear the cries of the baby when you'd walk by on the cold nights. After a few years,Iko was still a pretty helpless child but at least she'd been discovered by a random shinigami who'd been on patrol and was sent to Soul Society were she'd at least have a shot at liiving a normal life without the possibility of being eaten by a hollow. She ended up in the 16th District of Northern Rukongai, where she would spend her days learning how to speak and play like any normal child wandering the Rukongai streets.
In Rukongai, she discovered that she was infatuated with music and song . She developed a kind, soft voice to sing with and began to dance at any opportunity as long as there was music in the air. At this time she joined one of the thousands of poor orphan families that made up Rukongai where she found security having the duty of helping raise several dozen young children with the help of a few other people around her age or older. At the time that she appeared to be around 12 or 13, she began making a career out of performing in large festivals in North Rukongai's 15th and 14th Districts.
There she met the young man named Chiyo Keigo who was also a performer and for a few years of sharing an act where either they'd both sing together and she'd dance and he'd play a flute or sometimes a biwa (the short mandolin-like Japanese stringed instrument.) She didn't know lots about him at first, asides from that being with him made her feel warm and safe, and that she wanted to be with him forever. After a few years together, they eventually were married, joined a professional festival troupe, and began putting on more extravagant performances together in North Rukongai's nicest of districts. It was the best times of her life. It was a decade of fun and energy, activity and excitement, life and music. Two young lovers together in their prime, and only fate would be able to slow them down temporarily.
Keigo had received a letter from his mother saying that father was dying from injuries sustained in battle, and wished that his son would seriously reconsider joining the Gotei 13 and uphold the family tradition. He had no choice but to leave Rukongai, but he was at least able to buy a small house for his wife in the North Rukongai 1st district so he'd be able to visit whenever possible. Iko accepted this change in their life, and she settled down in the cozy house and began helping take care of children again. After a short while, however, she grew discontent simply being a mother figure and wished that she could actually be a mother.
It was a few years later when performing at a music festival inside Seireitei that a tragedy happened. While Iko was on stage dancing in front of an audience, a ryoka attempted barging into Seireitei and went on a rather destructive rampage. As members of Squad 3 attempted to apprehend the criminal, a stray hado spell caused an explosion on the stage, large pieces of falling debris happened to crush Iko's lower body from the stomach down to the legs and everything in between, ruining any chances she had of motherhood. She was rescued by her husband, who was now a seated officer in Squad Seven in the audience during the performance, who managed to sustain her life using a powerful bakudo until Squad 4 could arrive for proper care.By proving his impressive mastery of a high-level bakudo, Keigo was shortly after promoted to the rank of Vice-Captain of Squad 7 when the position was vacated. Iko was hospitalized and spent the next year recovering with the support of her husband and decided that she herself should join the Gotei 13 in order to be with him more than the short times he'd get to visit her every once in a while. She waited a few more months before enrolling into the academy in order to completely recover and be in peak health to pass the entrance exam.
While at the Academy, she was very fast to grasp kido and was more skilled than most unseated members of the 13 Squads within her first two years. By her fourth year, she was able to perform kido at a level beyond many lower seated officers and was assigned as the 6th seat of Squad 7 after graduating in six years. She was so happy to be able to be with her husband on a regular basis now, but him being the vice captain did in fact make some complications in their relationship as she'd now report to him as her superior officer, and also to the newly appointed captain, Mouretsu Arashi.
It was about another year that Iko and Keigo would be selected to partake in a scouting mission into the real world that would turn fatal after a mishap where the Seizing Currents and Cleaners were not shut down properly and nearly annihilated most of the patrol team. Iko was unharmed during the event, but was knocked unconscious so she was unable to be of assistance while her husband was badly wounded before reentering Soul Society and died before he could receive medical aid from Squad 4. This traumatized Iko greatly, and left her in a state of depression for quite a while afterwards and is still sometimes still haunted by it, and even until today she refuses to enter the Seizing Currents.
Within the decade Iko became the new Vice Captain but has only until recently been able to accept her rank and feel up to the task herself.
Additional Info:
Iko is a master of kido, able to cast high-level kido without the chant, but obviously using the incantation will improve her spells greatly as is with all kido. Her shikai can be used to improve her hado spells even more if used properly. While her released zanpakuto is used to amplify her kido attacks, Iko hardly possesses any skill fighting with it in its sealed form as an actual sword, therefore she is the most skilled at kido of all the current vice-captains but the least skilled in swordsmanship. Even a 5th-seat would probably have a good chance at outdoing her with a sword, but that doesn't say she has no skill, just that she makes up for it with the ability to use kido just as good as anyone from Squad Eleven can use a sword, or Squad Nine can be totally messed in the head. And that says lots.
General
Name: Enjinyume (Ring Dream)
Spirit Description:
Enjinyume's spirit form is that of a tall and beautiful woman, with long and flowing blueish-greenish-purple-black hair who wears a long, draping, elegant white silk dress which appears to flows freely in the wind, even though the zanpakuto's innerverse has no such wind, instead everything is just a beautiful dream world. Enjinyume is a very caring character, who often comforts Iko in her times of sadness with motherly affection and is able to support her with the confidence to push onward and upward with determination and strength.
Sealed:
Enjinyume's sealed form is an average zanpakuto in terms of size and shape. It's tsuba is silver and circular with an outer lip which represents a ring, and the grip is wrapped in dark greenish-blue-purple cloth. Some say it is the most beautiful sealed zanpakuto in Soul Society, but Iko rather modestly insists otherwise.
Shikai
Activation Phrase:
"Weave through the stars, Enjinyume!"
Appearance:
Enjinyume's blade becomes similar to a tennis racket minus the wiring, it's end forming a ring which can be used in close quarter's combat to attack or to deflect incoming attacks with some success, but ultimately is not a very effective weapon in terms of it's odd shape being awkward to use in a combat. Luckily, it has an ability that is the complete opposite.
Abilities:
Given the oral command, "weave," Enjinyume's blade can transform into 5 separate rings which float around in the air around Iko which she controls telepathically or using her hands for more control and speed. The rings themselves are not used to attack directly, but can redirect and alter any projectile that passes through them. Iko can alter a projectile's trajectory by 72 decrees and either increase it's speed by up to 20% or decrease the speed by up to 10%. This is accumulative, however it is very difficult to manipulate a projectile multiple times unless the rings are already aligned in a path. Because of there being 5 rings, Iko can potentially have an attack travelling in a perfect circle, and then suddenly launch in any direction after building enough speed. Typically, more speed equals more potential damage and the same with the opposite but not always so. Of course if a projectile is too large to it inside the ring, it wont work. Meaning a cero would probably only damage the ring since only the energy passing though the ring itself can be manipulated.
Bankai
Activation Phrase:
"Bankai! Mugen Enjinyume!" (Fantasy Ring Dream)
Appearance:
Mugen Enjinyume transforms into a much grander version of it's shikai form. The handle extends into a short scepter crowned by a majestic ring at the end. The blade transforms into one thousand large rings made fine, beautiful crystal. Also a small flying platform is created allowing Iko to stand on solid ground.
Abilities:
Most average-strength energy attacks that pass through the individual rings can be manipulated, either by slightly increasing or decreasing the attack's speed or strength. The platform allows Iko to stand on solid ground and move freely midair, and the thousand rings can align themselves into a vast array of formations, but there are three that Iko tends to stick to:
Fantasy Wall Formation:
This formation organizes every one of the thousand rings into a large wall which can be used to stop most energy attacks and send them back in the other direction.
Fantasy Tube Formation:
This formation connects every singe ring into a large tubular path which acts like a particle-accelerator, where even a weak hado spell going in one end would become amazingly powerful by the time it fires out the other end.
Fantasy Storm Formation:
This formation simply makes every single ring fly freely around Iko, able to redirect small attacks in any which direction. This formation cannot be used in enclosed areas.
Iko is a master at Kido, and is highly nimble, dexterous and flexible, but overall her speed isn't incredible and her actual strength swinging her zanpakuto as a sword is pathetic compared to most vice-captains. She can dodge and exploit openings in a target's defense, but in most struggles she cannot depend on her swordsmanship. She has been known to give certain spells unorthodox uses outside of their intended purpose.
*Bakudo # 1: Sai / Restrain:
Locks the target's arm behind it's back.
*Bakudo # 9: Geki / Strike:
"Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat! "
Engulfs the target in red light, completely paralyzing them.
Bakudo # 37: Tsuriboshi / Suspending Star:
Creates a star-shaped cushion of Spiritual Energy, which anchors it to nearby objects with "ropes" of spirit particles. It can stop falling objects, acting like a safety net
Bakudo # 39: Enkosen / Arc Sheild:
Summons a shield of condensed reiatsu to block opponents' attacks.
Bakudo # 58: Kakushitsuijaku / Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows
"Heart of the south, eye of the north, finger of the west, foot of the east, arrive with the wind and depart with the rain."
Tracks and locates any spiritual force the user focuses on. To activate it, the user must draw a circle on the ground, cut into four parts with a specific character in each. The incantation animates the circle, causing various numbers to appear within until the specific set is found. The number set seems to be a variation on longitude and latitude.
Bakudo # 61: Six Rods of Prison Light:
"Carriage of thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six"
Summons six thin, but wide, beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place
Bakudo # 63: Binding Streak of Chains:
A powerful binding spell used to restrain a target by wrapping it in thick chains
Bakudo # 71: Tozansho / Falling Mountain Chrystal:
Creates an inverted pyramid-shaped barrier around the caster
Bakudo # 75: Quintet of Iron Pillars:
"Walls of iron sand, a priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. Standing upright, silent to the end"
Summons five incredibly tall and thick pillars to pin a target to the ground.
*Hado # 1: Sho / Thrust:
Pushes the target away from the caster.
Hado # 4: Byakurai / Pale Lightning:
Shoots a beam of concentrated energy from the caster's fingertip
Hado # 11: Tsuzuri Raiden / Bound Lightning:
Electric current flows through any object the user touches and is able to lead electricity, damaging any target that is in contact with the object the current runs through.
Hado # 31: Shakkaho / Red Flame Canon:
"Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!"
Shoots a ball of red energy at the target, exploding on impact.
Hado # 58: Tenran / Orchid Sky:
A widening tornado-like blast is fired towards the target
Hado # 63: Raikoho / Thunder Roar Cannon:
"Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle! "
Fires a large blast of destructive yellow energy at a target.

Roleplay Sample:
It was getting a bit later than she had hoped to get out the door and make her way to the festivities, but all her preparation and planning for what she would do once she got there caused her to lose track of time.
"Ah, shoot!"
The lively Vice-captain of Squad Seven, Iko, cursed aloud as she scrambled around the messy room she called home. While not necessarily disheveled herself, quite the contrary, in fact, she needed to quickly change into a clean outfit if she was going to be at Getsumaru-taichou's party. She began to undo her sash when she had a case of consciousness and with the wave of her fingers, cast a simple binding spell, Bakudo # 9: Strike, engulfing the door in red light, locking it in place so nobody could accidentally walk in on her as she undressed and swapped her wrinkly, lounge-all-day robes with clean and freshly pressed ones, and of course her favorite, rather expensive kimono adorned with white flowers. The badge signifying her as the vice-captain wrapped around her thin waist was used to carry the fans she often brought to these events, and she left her zanpakuto hung on the wall as she would have no need for it.
Ready to go and have fun, she released the spell flung open the sliding door, spinning out of her room with grace and liveliness as was often expected of her. As she exited her room, she cast another basic spell on the turntable responsible for the ambiance coming from behind her. The spell was # 1, Restain, normally used to lock one's arm behind his or her back, when cast on the music player caused its arm to lift off the vinyl record and stop spinning.
She suddenly hurried down the corridor towards Daichi's quarters and in a fit of miffed anger shouted aloud, rather ungracefully,
"There'd better be a damn good reason nobody reminded me of the time, dammit!"
She passed right by the 3rd-Seat's room, not bothering to try and find him in person, if he was still nearby, he'd just know that she wasn't in a bad mood seeing as she'd insisted that somebody remind her when it was time to go, which nobody seemed bothered to do. She hurried quickly down the stone streets of Seireitei and exited the compound of Squad Seven, leading towards the domain of Squad Five. The distance wasn't too far, considering there was only Squad Six between them, and she knew the fastest routes from traveling this road many times to attend the annual festivities hosted by Squad Five.
She arrived a bit earlier than she expected given her late departure, and was surprised when not as many people had showed up yet as she had thought there would be, but then again the party itself hadn't even started yet and not everyone was there for the lots of people would only show up for the food and drinks and more drinks.
God, why did everyone need to drink so much at these places, what's so amazing about getting hung over, honestly? If more people could have fun while staying sober, then the clean up for these parties would be so much easier...
Iko's thought trail quickly took another pace when within the the crowds of people setting up she spotted the girl she was looking for, sitting prettily as usual as a flock of admirers ran about doing all sorts of tasks. Iko ran over to Hana and held out her open arms for a hug.
"Who is that pretty girl?" Iko began to sing with a smile on her face, "I swear that's Hana-chan, but I didn't think there was any way she could have possibly gotten any cuter than usual!"

Zanpakuto
Shinigami Techniques
