Shinigami/Hollow
Name: Zhiel Azerin // Kalverian Kehieleth
Gender: Male
Age: 63 // Ancient
Division: Former Tenth Division
Ranking: Former third seat. Currently Rogue
Physical Description: Azerin is a little over the age of sixty, but as a soul his appearance is that of a late teen to early twenty year old man due to his rather early death in the real world. He stands at a height of 185 centimeters, making him rather tall, but is also slim but not so much as to make him look lanky. You can clearly see the muscles on his arms and legs and from his appearance its pretty easy to guess that he is a person to rely mostly on speed and athletic maneuvers rather than brute strength, though he's got a fair bit of that too.
His silevery white hair has grown mostly unchecked over the months he's been rogue and so is nearly chin length at the front, usually with strands hanging down over his face though he tends to brush it aside when necessary. On the side and back the hair reaches down to his shoulders however and due to it's very light nature tends to wave around a lot when he moves. Though Azerin's natural eye color is emerald green, his left eye has changed to a glowing golden tone like that of a hollows, and when Kehieleth takes control the other eye changes to this as well while the pupils sharpen up into slits. The whites remain white however. In the past his eyes showed great confidence and a sharp mind, but now mostly just tell of a weary and stressed man who has lost everything, and in the midst of this there is an indescribable fear of something unknown.
Large portions of Azerin's body is covered in a thin but solid looking white carapace terrifyingly similar to that of a hollows. That he has a broken hollow mask that covers the left side of his face certainly doesn't make it any less terrifying or obvious just what it is to begin with, and with it's creeping deep purple markings, the razor sharp teeth and the golden iris in the eye socket it is just made even worse. The carapace covers nearly his entire left arm, forming a clawed hand with almost an inch being added to his fingers as blade-like claw tips, with the majority of his arm carapace being focused to his wrist and the upper-portion of his arm, changing slightly around his elbow with three sharp spikes protruding from it before it continues back up onto his shoulder where unfinished protrusions seem to have grown.
Even more carapace has grown on the left side of his chest, covering most of his left side appart from where it seems intentionally split from the center near his solar-plexus, almost like if something should be in the center of his chest. The carapace then circles around his side and connects with a small protrusion going along his spine. Additionally carapace has also grown on his right leg, in particular the lower part of his leg and the upper portion of his foot, and though it continues up over his knee and up on his thigh, it seems incomplete on several areas, though one two inch long curved spike has grown from the carapace on his kneecap. Like with the mask a creeping dark purple marking covers portions of these carapaces, though for the most part it isn't nearly as much as the mask.
Though his clothing varies, never wearing his shinigami robe anymore due to losing it sometime during one of Kehieleth's sprees, he's not picky and can usually be seen wearing rags. Kehieleth has a huge ego however and tends to pick up some more stylish clothing when applicable.
Kehieleth's Mask
Azerin's Personality: Azerin has changed a lot during his time as a rogue. Though he is still an honorable man who would never hurt innocents, he's lost a lot of what many would call 'naivé idealism' and has become more of a realist. This also means he's become very pessimistic however, as he sees his own condition as hopeless it is only his will that keeps him going and even that is fading as he keeps losing ground to the hollow inside him.
A lot of what makes him who he is remains however, he is still a thinker and someone who rationalized mostly everything in some way or form, rarely going for the first option available without thinking it through first and though he realized the need to be quick in a fight he also knows through experience that being rash can result in tragedy. It did for him at least.
Azerin has great respect for Saigotchu Yun, his former captain who he has served for nearly thirty years until recently and though he's hardly 'gotten to know him' well like some of the older members of tenth division, he felt he understood the man. His current condition and flight from Soul Society is a great burden on Azerin as he knows he's let his captain down and more-so, betrayed Soul Society and everything the Tenth Division stands for... He keeps going however, in hope of making it right somehow.
Kehieleth's Personality: (I'll add more when I make a separate application for him.)
Being the near ancient hollow he is, being one of the very fist Vasto Lorde to walk the vastes of Hueco Mundo, Kehieleth has accumulated quite a bit of an ego over the long years and though he was quite 'humbled' by his defeat and fall from power, he still holds his fierce pride of never selling his pride as a hollow by becoming an Arrancar. Because of their existence as shinigamified Hollow, Kehieleth see them as cowardly for trying to mimic their great enemy, and an insult to their very race. To say that Kehieleth hate Arrancar is an understatement, to say the least.
He views humans as even less than cattle, to him humans are insects who should be squashed under his feet and even those with power are merely fools who do not know their place in his mind. With an ego the size of the moon and arrogance to boot Kehieleth is not a very likable 'person' to be around, however this does not mean he can't have a civil conversation with people he sees as 'near' equals and the only one he acknowledges as superior is Death, the unofficial leader of the Horror Vacui.
History: (Ancient application, history is shit, but I'm too lazy to revise it. I'll add Kehieleth's history to the separate application when/if I finish either.)
Azerin was born in Japan in the late 1930's, a time where was was about to take hold of the world. Had he been born ten years earlier it is very likely he would have died during the war as a soldier of Japan, but instead he managed to survive simply due to his age making him too young to join the war effort. Azerin and his family lived in the northern part of Japan in a rather issolated area, so the war barely touched their part of the large island country, so Azerin grew up for the most part in peace, he gained a lot of friends, but also lost some due to the war.
One notable thing about Azerin was that, at the age of ten Azerin began to see spirits, why this happened is hard to say, but it is possible that his spiritual power suddenly surfaced, or that it had become large enough for him to see the beings of the spiritual world. This he naturaly told to the people around him, but no one believed him and it seemed as though they could not see them either, this was very odd to him, because they seemed clear as day, but after being scolded by his mother about lieing he decided to keep quiet about it.
At the age of twelve Azerin met a girl during school that, while trying to hide it, clearly could see the spirits as well, he confronted her about it once on their way home from school, and while she first though he was making fun of some old rumours he managed to convince her that he could also see them, from this day on the two of them became good friends, even if they did not meet with each others increadibly often he still valued her friendship the highest, because she was the only one who understood him completely, however the peace would not last in his hometown, as a beast of terrifying size began to tear through the streets, consumming spirits and people as it went.
This horror from ones nigthmares had a white mask that covered its face, golden bright eyes that shone in the dark inside the darkness of the mask, and lumbering steps that made the ground tremble under its weight. However what scared Azerin the most when he saw this monstrosity was that the people down on the street infront of it could not see it, but they could tell something was happening due to the ground breaking up for no apparent reason, buildings collapsing and people flying into the air by an unseen force. What was that thing? Was a thought that went through Azerins mind many times during this horrible night, but he never figured out the answer until much later.
One thing that he noticed while watching the gigantic monster rampage across the city was that it seemed to be going in a straight course, and after a few minutes he had figured out where it would take it. With a speed that surprised even himself he was dashing down the stairs of the house he lived in, then across the street, taking a detour around the large monster, finally ending up at his special friends house, which was in a collision course with the monster. Pounding on the door with all his might Azerin started to panic as no one responded and the beast was getting closer. Finally the door was opened, his friend was standing in the opening with a pyjamas on, it was obvious she was about to ask what was going on, then she saw the monster about a hundred meters behind Azerin.
"Theres no time! Lets go!" Azerin said, the girl simply nodded and then they start to run off, apparently her parents were gone for the weekend so she was home along at the moment. While they were running away from the house it became clear that the beast suddenly changed its course, as well as the speed in which is was walking and it only took a few minutes before it was shortly behind them. Without them noticing it the gigantic monster had picked up a car and thrown it after them, and while it missed big time the car hit the side of a building right infront of them, making rubble fall down ontop of them, trapping his friend halfly under it.
In panic she told him to run and leave her, but he couldent do that! At first he tried to pull her out, but as the monster got closer he did all he could do, he rushed at the monster, despite knowing full well there was no way he could do anything to it, but he couldent just leave his friend there, he had to try even if it was pointless! Little did he count on the monster completely ignoring him however, but as its gigantic foot crashed down beside him the streets under it nearly exploded, sending Azerin flying straight into the nearby buildings wall head first.
Slumping to the ground halfly unconcious Azerin could only watch as the monster approached his friend, he tried to force his body to move, but it just wouldent, however just as his vision began to dim he thought he could see several beams of light pierce the beast, before what appeared to be a man cleaved its head in two with some form of sword type weapon, then everything went black. His last thought in life was "Thank god...".
That was the end of Azerins life among the living, fifteen short years among abruptly ended, however that is not the end of Azerins tale as he shortly thereafter awoke in a completely new place, the streets around him looked just like the ones of old Japan he had seen in pictures, it was as if he had traveled back in time, but that made no sense at all. Curious as to where he was he walked up to the closest person that didnt seem too busy, asking where he was. The man said something along the lines of "I guess your new here huh?" But then explained to him about Soul Society, and what the monster that attacked him must have been after he told him how he had ended up there.
After learning as much as he could about soul society from the man he began to try and fit into his new "life", however as much as he tried not to think about it he still missed his family and friends. After several years of doing small tasks to get a place to sleep Azerin decided to attempt to join the Shinigami academy, and surprisingly he managed to join on his first attempt, placing him among the ones with highest potential. Although he did gain new friends during his time in the academy he never got as close as he had been with the girl he had died to protect, despite how miserably he had failed.
His reason for wanting to become a shinigami was simply that he did not want others to go through the same thing, he wanted to protect people, so that people they loved wouldent be taken from them, that was why, that was the only reason. With his strong will and determination Azerin managed to clear the Shinigami academy in just a matter of years, earning the right to join a squad of his choosing. Naturally as he wanted to protect people he joined the tenth squad, lead by the captain Yun, although he seemed a little odd to Azerin he appeared to be a nice person.
Over the remaining thirty-five years Azerin climbed the ladder of Shinigami until the point he became third seat of the tenth division, just one step away from vice-captain. He did not wish to surpass anyone other than himself, but the seats was a way to prove himself as worthy of the power he had attained over the years. Some regarded him as a genius, but he knew it was all through hard work, not that he was increadibly smart or talented.
However something unexpected happened, something that would turn Azerins life upside down. Just three weeks ago from present time Azerin got the strange feeling that something was wrong down in the real world, someone very close to him was in danger, it was one of those feelings that just came out of nowhere and seemingly for no reason, but Azerin was not ready to take that risk, but he did not believe anyone to allow him to leave so suddenly and therefore snuck out of Soul Society, into the real world to find his best friend in life. Peering out over the large city from the top of a building Azerin managed to sense a rather powerfull reiatsu, yet there was something extremely similiar to it as well...
Without a second thought Azerin headed for the source of the reiatsu, appearing over an area where he could see what appeared to be a middle-aged plus pushing herself against the buildings wall while a large four legged hollow was slowly approaching her, upon realising this must be his friend Azerin instantly jumped into action, using his blades ability to shadow jump down infront of the hollow, slashing at it instantly with his Zanpakutou, however the hollow was more ready than it appeared and was able to dodge the attack, then hissed. "Do not interfere with my meal, shinigami" It spat out at him, Azerin did not bother responding, all hollow were the same, ruthless killers.
The woman seemed to calm down a little upon his arrival, but she seemed to recognize something about the young man infront of her. Azerin and the hollow stared at each others for atleast a minute, then they abruptly began to battle, Azerin slashing and stabbing wildly while making good use of his Shadow Walk ability, however the hollow seemed to easily multi-task as it blocked him from all angles while dishing out attacks of its own, nearly hitting Azerin several times. Whatever this hollow was it was nothing like what usualy appeared from Hueco Mundo, but it still had a trick up its sleeve, and it used it at the most opportune time. As Azerins blade clashed with the fore-legs of the hollow they separated for a moment, at this time Azerin decided to unleash his Shi-kai, but just as he was about to say the phrase to unlock it the hollow simply vanished, and before he had noticed it a claw cut a deep wound on his left side, flinging Azerin forward by the force.
As he spun around in the air he noticed that there was a tail-like appendage comming out from under the hollow, what an idiot he had been, with such strength and speed there was no way that the hollow could have such limited attacks. Landing with a heavy thud against the wall Azerin lost the grip of his Zanpakutou. But it did not matter, once again he was too weakened to move, this was just a repeat of the last time!
With the bothersome Shinigami out of the way the hollow turned back to the plus standing in horror by the buildings wall, slowly it began to approach her once again. 'Damn it... After all theese years I still fail to protect her... Am I really that pathetic?' As if in response a dark, twisted voice echoed through his head "Yes, you truly are, however there is still a way for you to save your... Friend... However you must give up something important for that to be possible." The voice said, Azerin desperately looking around to see whoever was talking, why did he not save her from that hollow!?
"What? What must I do? I will do anything! Just help me protect her!" Azerin said aloud, however the hollow either did not hear or did not pay attention to him, neither did the woman, maybe not so strange as she was probably more worried about the hollow at that time. "So be it, then. I will give you the remains of my power, with it you can destroy that pathetic hollow." If anyone was watching Azerin at this point it would have seemed as if a dark shadow lingered over his fallen body, but suddenly it vanished, but at the same time Azerins reiatsu seemed to overflow, this made the hollow turn to look in horror at the shinigami he thought to be defeated.
In a blaze Azerin had grabbed the hilt of his sword and driven it deep into the shell of the hollow, making it scream in pain as it pulled away from him, lashing out with its tail once more, however this time Azerin was ready and cleaved it in two with ease due to the massive boost in power he had gained from the being. The hollow did not simply sit idly and watch however, when it noticed its attacks was no longer effective it started to run away, and Azerin was about to follow, but then the power disappeared, just as suddenly as it had appeared, making him fall onto his knees in pain from the wound at his side.
Whatever that voice had been it had saved both him and his old friend, so whatever its intentions were, he was gratefull. After having performed a quick soul burial, Azerin returned to Soul Society, quickly being taken in by Fourth Squad, having his injury checked and healed, then he was shortly put back on duty after a good scolding from his captain. Everything seemed fine, until three days after he had returned, as he awoke one morning he found that a bleak like white "plate" had started forming on the left side of his chest, this terrified him at first, and he was almost close to go to fourth squad to have it checked, but he then decided against it, figuring he had to come up with a solution on his own, whatever it was the rest of the shinigami would most likely not accept it.
Azerin began to hide the parts of his body where this strange "growth" began to take place, covering it with bandages, clothing, and by growing his hair longer, but at the same time he started having nightmares, every single one being about a strange, transparent being with two golden eyes and what appeared to be a hollow mask. Now, one week prior to current time Azerin has finally figured out what is happening and what that voice was, however all he thinks he can do now is keep hiding what is happening to him, but he has noticed that his captain seem to keep him under more watch than regular, and occasionaly showing up when he'd lead expect it, he no doubt suspected something was wrong. Which was more than true.
Additional Info: One thing to take note of is that Azerin is not a Vizard in the normal sense. Azerin's Hollow is not a part of his power or soul, it is a parasite attached to it and as such he does not have the same advantages or functions as a regular Vizard. It is Kehieleth who is dominating Azerin, not the other way around and it is impossible for Azerin to turn this around.
