Shinigami
Name: Hana (Juuni) Senzaikeiro – Originally named Juuni, goes by Hana now.
Gender: Male (Note: However, unless you have planned with me to know the truth most characters will presume he is female.)
Age: 819
Division: 12th
Rank: Vice-captain
Physical Description
(Outfit as seen in bankai, appearance however is identical)
Put simply most people not part of Twelth Divisions upper echelon, even lower members of the squad itself, believe Hana is a girl. His appearance, movements, speech and actions all point to it and Hana makes no attempt to correct others when they call him as such, quite the contrary he keeps the belief alive as it makes his life infinitely easier. It is hard enough catching grief from his close allys though most have come to accept the fact by now, he has no intention of receiving it from others. That this came about in the first place is a mixture of natural appearance and learned actions, Hana always had a girly figure but it is through learning and active attention to detail that he has perpetuated his feminine side to the point of being a believable female. For all intents and purposes most people within the RP who have not spoken with me directly about knowing the truth will assume Hana is female.
Possessing a petite frame (helping explain his lack of bust) and a fair complexion Hana has the base composition for either making one really girly looking guy or one cute looking girl. His hair is long extending to just above his butt if he is standing straight and possesses an extremely light robins egg blue tint, however this tint is so subtle that under any lighting except a harsh white light his hair itself would appear white. Normally Hana does not wear his hair in any particular fashion instead letting it fall straight, despite this he still spends a ridiculous amount of time keeping it healthy and well kept. On the rare occasion he can be found with it pulled into a ponytail, looped in a variety of patterns or kept in a lacqured chopstick bun but this is only done during special occasions. His facial features are rounded and he has peaceful violet eyes that are most often kept in a laid back stare though they can express flurry's of emotion. He has a cute button nose and a small, expressive mouth.
As said his form is petite and generally while moving could be called graceful, lithe in build and dexterous from practice his movements are precise and well thought out, flowing from point to point. His arms, hands and legs are all long and slender, his nails are grown out an inch on both and painted a opaque white. On a normal day he wears a white bed-shirt, it is made of knit cotton similar to a sweater but much thinner allowing air to flow freely. It falls low over his shoulders with a rather large neck and extends into extremely long sleeves which fall so far as to cover his hands completely, the wrists have slits in them however to allow him to expose his hands quickly and draw his blade if need be though. It ends in a disturbingly short bottom which is only long enough to cover his butt and hips, promptly ending at that point, he has no pants and though he does wear panties it has caused more than one double-take and while non-division members might see nothing wrong with it those who know he is a man might find it deeply disturbing. The shirt is very loose fitting but not so much as to look overly large, it simply doesn't hug his figure. He wears white sandals and has the twelfth division insignia clipped to his left shoulder via a golden pin, it is not large, only an inch across. Hana gets away with wearing white instead of the typical black by claiming it is his research outfit and though this obviously isn't true his kind personality coupled with the higher leniency seated members often received means nobody really bothers with it.
Personality
Some might call Hana confused, he just calls himself open minded. There are many parts to Hana like there is anyone else but clearly the question most are going to be asking is, why does Hana dress and act the way he does and more over what exactly is his sexual orientation? Put simply Hana has done what few can, transcended the boundaries of a normal personality, standing above others with elevated understanding. Clearly seeing the results not everyone would actually want to do this, put simply in his mind Hana is not gay or even bisexual nor is he a “cross dresser”, rather he has stopped seeing things in terms of male, female and even race. To him the best choice is to do what you want and not to mind what others have to say. In terms of affection he has no predisposition to either sex because unlike most a relationship in his mind is not about the physical interactions but rather the mental ones. Because he prizes a mate who challenges him mentally instead of physically he could choose to love either. However because very few others can see the world in such a fashion almost everything he does is misinterpreted.
Beyond this obvious and controversial personality topic though is his base personality. Kind to a fault Hana never shows anger and can often come off as a sort of emotional dunce due to his patience, he seems to shrug off insults as if hes oblivious and doesn't get into arguments. Though this can make him look a little slow the real truth is Hana is like anybody else, in his heart he gets angry and if you are cruel to him he will never be attached to you. However he long ago learned that arguments and pointless conflict never gained results and so shirks away from such futile gestures. Still while kind to all he is sickeningly sweet to those he considers friends, he often acts overly hyper around them, performs semi-childish actions and tends to make a lot of body contact including hugging or just holding on to the person. In truth this is just the way he tries to keep a hold of his closest friends, it was hard enough to get people to accept him in the first place and he fears losing what position he has gained. Hana always gives nicknames to people, both friend and foe.
Hana is extremely creative but the problem is he doesn't actually understand how allot of things work. More often than not he applies common sense to a situation and not knowledge. This has garnered him his own nickname of the “Faulty Genius”, he has crafted countless items and many of them see regular use in the field including the current generation of spirit radar, that being said he couldn't begin to tell you the science behind why it works. Instead he could tell you his basic thoughts and why he put it together like he did, while this is adequate for your typical shinigami just asking questions it causes no end of trouble in 12th Division where knowledge is pride, particularly when it comes time for paper work. For someone usually so graceful Hana also has a tenancy to be extremely clumsy when concentrating, more than once he has run straight into someone standing in front of him, tripped on nothing but thin air or spilled a large cart of samples as he moved to and fro trying to discover an answer.
As should be becoming abundantly clear Hana is actually exceedingly intelligent, particularly in philosophy and theoretical sciences but often his kindness or self-imposed limitations make it hard to see. Still he wouldn't be where he is now if others hadn't recognized these facts for themselves, it can just be hard for a new individual to accept him. Other facts to note include the fact that Hana can at times be flirtatious, it doesn't happen often but occasionally he has developed a crush on someone and it has been shown that he can be remarkably straightforward and aggressive to get what he wants. Alcohol makes him even worse by all regards, he has a pathetic “drunken limit” and a few drinks are more than enough to see him hugging on anyone within arms reach and telling them all his feelings about them or anyone else. An extrovert to the extreme he still occasionally likes to spend time alone where he often writes down ideas he wants to try out in the lab, nurtures a garden he has grown in his room and he is a master of the Koto, often playing for massive crowds when soul society has festivals. He knows how to speak Latin thanks to Terminus, his favorite food is pizza and kiwi birds are his favorite animal.
History
Born in the opening years of the Kamakura era in which the Shogunate replaced the central imperial court it is a wonder Hana, or Juuni as he was known at birth survived as long as he did. Tumultuous at best there were few times in Japans history in which there was more conflict as the rising clans fought over the multiple providences left over from the break up of the central government. Even the remainder of the Kamakura era was tame in comparison to its opening years, instead replaced with small conflicts between rival shogun under the clans, but in these opening years war between the many shogun was a stones throw away and could be tripped upon at any time...ironic that it was this very confusion that kept Hana alive in later years. Regardless at the time Hana's family had no such thoughts on there mind at the time of his birth for Hana would be the last of four children and the only male, something his father had been aiming for, for years...as would any father at the time for there was no greater honor than having a successor.
From birth it was obvious Hana would never be a warrior, as young as the age of three he clearly lacked the body for battle. Regardless he was active and intelligent, still highly desirable attributes and better yet he learned how to emulate his father, the highest advisor to the local shogun. He spent his days learning to write from as young as four and observing ceremonial and daily duties his father performed from the sidelines, he spent his nights being tutored in mathematics directly from his father and entertained key members of the political field along with his father to learn how a political man could work under the shoguns to keep a higher quality life. True his success was all but assured in life thanks to his fathers standing but even so, his family believed that all its members reflected on the family as a whole and were determined he would at least come to take a role of some standing in the court. Unfortunately it was simply never to be, for all his hard work and striving to be a perfect Japanese man of the court disaster struck around his eighth birthday.
After returning home from the court one night Hana came down with a fever, at first he was simply laid down and given herbal treatments and rest as was expected of your average sickness. However it quickly became obvious it was anything but average, within several days Hana found himself laid up in bed and incapable of moving. Several more and he started going through periods of unconsciousness, blindness and periods when he was hard of hearing. His fever skyrocketed and though he always woke back up the sickness just refused to leave. His father was able to play it off as a simple sickness to the court superiors who chose the children who would serve under the shogun of this sector as future court leaders but after a week questions began to be raised. A sick child, even one who became well again would never be allowed to serve the shogun for fear that they held a poor karmic burden and it might “infect” others. His father put up a tough act but it was abundantly clear after the second week that patience had run thin and the truth was coming out one way or another, then the unexpected happened.
A young shogun by the name of Iaota Kagamare struck the local leaders and in a single night wiped out his enemy, the shogun whom Hanas father served. Still he allowed the citizens to live, his siege had been almost bloodless in terms of civilian casualties and due to this mantra which he guided his conquered territories by nobody argued with his rule. Luckily Hanas father was one of the few court members not there during the siege and so it was he was promoted to the head court member, directing the local area in the name of Kagamare. Better yet this insured that almost all who might have questioned Hana should he have gotten better in the future were gone with the few knowing of his presence being close friends or followers of his father. You could say a new age began but in reality nothing really changed for the locals except they were no longer under the direct rule of a shogun, an actual blessing in some regards. Hana meanwhile went through flare ups and downs, he sometimes walked around just fine and then as quickly as he got up the energy was sucked out of him and his fever began again. No matter what they tried he couldn't be cured but at the same time his strong and resilient body kept him alive.
Then one day a message arrived from the councilors of Shogun Iaota Kagamare, it was a call to arms. All men no matter their standing, age or physical health were to assemble and fight for their lord, no doubt it occurred to some of them that such a call was little better than allotting them as fodder. But among all the men Hanas father knew that his son could never live the march to wherever they might go, much less any battle that might ensue. For this reason the father placed only his own name, Izimaru, on the list of forces that would be sanctioned from their zone. Within days the amassing began as trained soldiers arrived in the land and began pulling the locals together, Hanas father met with his “replacement” which was little more than a puppet that could be directly controlled by the shogun himself and then moved on to be grouped together like the hundreds of others around him who would die. The army stayed there for three days and in that time they began conducting searches of all the homes, after all the peasantrie and even the leadership couldn't be trusted to always come forward. Hanas mother only received word of these checks less than half an hour before soldiers arrived at her door, she had thought as quickly as she could.
Records were crude but they had suggested two men had lived at the residents and only one had arrived under the name. Still Hanas mother openly welcomed them to search and after a quick search of the home they concluded it was little more than an error, just the mother and her four daughters. Hana had been in one of his unconscious phases at that time and he hadn't even known the danger that he had brushed with until he awoke. Thinking quickly his mother had used her and his sisters kits to dress him up and with his naturally petite form it had been no time until he turned from a draft skipping boy into a sick little girl, the soldiers being naturally honorable had been more than willing to take a brief glimpse behind the rooms veil to confirm “she” was the only one in there. Within the following day the army had left, their father included and Hanas fate was sealed. For a time Hana remained sick and the stunt had been a one time venture, seasons passed, Juuni was all but forgotten by those few remaining villagers near them and though tales of the Shoguns victory's reached there ears no word of their father ever returned, nor did many of the men who left that day.
It happened unexpectedly and unexplainably but one morning almost two years later Hana simply woke up and felt better. He was not plagued by weakness or at least no more than years on inactivity had forced upon him, he had fever nor pains, it was as if the gods simply healed him. However this change of events was not received quite as happily as you might imagine, while his mother was certainly grateful his sudden wellness presented a plethora of problems. The largest was by far the fact that by any regard he should have been dead, whether by disease or war and now he was alive. Hana could not leave the house, even to help support his mother and sisters. However at the same time his mother was perhaps to soft and despised the concept of keeping her now well son under lock and key, she knew there was nobody left who knew of Hanas existence...all the men who had worked with his father were either dead or missing and none of the women who remained had ever met the family in its entirety before. Thus she hatched a plan, Hana was reluctant at first but a young mans mind cannot rest easily locked up for long and it was not long before he agreed to attempt the impossible. If they could fool trained soldiers, they could certainly fool peasants.
Juuni had been dead for a while but now the last few people aware of his existence wrote him out of history. Documents were rewritten, trees forged and all gifts presented to a young man burnt or hidden far out of view, Hana was born. She was the fourth and youngest daughter of the Senzaikeiro line who had been weak of body for many years but eventually regained her strength. It didn't take much to complete the transformation, Hanas body was petite to begin with and by simply performing little exercise his already atrophied muscles were so slim they might as well not have existed. Better yet his hair had grown long and fine over the years of bed-rest and all it took was letting it down and he suddenly went from a regal knot to a young woman.
Within the month he was wearing his sisters old hand me downs, meeting people in the village and at night learning important duties such as cooking, cleaning and fine arts from his mother to more complete the image. At first he was quite perturbed but having been locked up, stuck in a bed for years his young brain was eager to absorb anything even if what seemed like little more than a story's-telling away it would have been unthinkable when his father was around, an idea that would never have even occurred to anyone. His sisters were also along for the ride as they likely saw this as a chance to stand “above” a man, not to mention in the end they were still family.
Hana quickly gained a new life in the village, he was well liked by just about everyone because he was well mannered but at the same time being couped up had made him a bit naive and cute to listen to. Among many things he learned to play the koto exceedingly well and while he kept to himself for quite a while it was not long until people picked up on that skill amongst many others. It didn't take long to become wrapped up in his own little make believe story and before long even he had all but forgotten who he used to be. For four years he managed to pull off his charade flawlessly and since he could always retreat to his home when personal matters needed attending to. For a period he was frightened when two of his sisters were proposed to but luckily their prettiness combined with the fact that he was cuter seemed to make him less desirable, perhaps his mysterious origins also made him a lesser choice. It was not until he made the mistake of accepting a place at playing the koto at one of many festivals that were being held in Shogun Kagamares lands to celebrate all the victory's he had won, now letting him return to his owns lands to serve as overseer. It was not lost on the family that by doing so they were in essence accepting that their father, and just about everyone else that had left was dead.
At first nothing of real issue arose from the event for more than two weeks life simply continued on as it had. Then there came a hustle and bustle from town, several of the shoguns highest ranking officers had arrived and spoken with the court master of the land. Still this matter was of little interest to the actual community as a whole until that same group of men appeared outside of the Senzaikeiro household. I should explain that as you may have taken note Hanas father had been enormously important, even after his death they were still the richest family in these lands and as such were considered a form of royalty. Hanas mother had done the best she could at accepting such guest on short notice as they all, Hana included, moved around rapidly serving the men. It was only after a period they revealed why they were there, the Shogun himself was looking for wives and word had reached them of a cultured individual who had taken part in the celebration festival, that certainly stopped the whole family dead in their tracks given that Hana was the only one who had done such. When one of the men removed his helmet now that they were in the safety of the home to expose that he was indeed Shogun Iaota Kagamare...well as they say, to be a fly on the wall.
There was nothing that could be done about it, surely the man had come in peace and requested kindly but in that day and age the line between request and order was thin. The Shoguns could do as they saw fit and turning them down in any matter was grounds for losing your head on the spot. Though he saw no way for this to end well the fact that an answer had to be given then and there, with no way to talk it over with his mother saw him forced to accept. He had only hoped he could think of a way out of it before things went bad, being found out in the first place would have been his death, now it could be far worse. He, his mother and all his sisters were transported a long ways from there home to the royal court of the Shogun and his own manor, there they underwent a quick but elaborate ceremony and then it was over. I make it sound dull and fast paced but thats because it was, Hana had hardly had time to process the information before he was suddenly married to a Shogun in a highly attended but speedy ceremony before he was left in the Shoguns manor and just as quickly the Shogun took his leave.
Hana supposed he should have been grateful though the curious circumstances were more than enough to make one wonder, still you didn't question providence to harshly. In all honesty little changed, they were simply in a new place and now Hana feared for every day of his life that he would be found out, he no longer had the privacy and comfort of his home to return to at night. Meanwhile ever since their marriage the Shogun had since been out patroling his lands and even when he occasionally returned home he barely gave Hana a wave before retreating to his own quarters. Hana decided their marriage had been solely for image though he again didn't know why, he grew more comfortable in his surroundings the more he became convinced the Shogun was showing no interest in him but until his death it was an unnerving situation. Then one day the local general under the Shogun requested that Hana visit the masters quarters.
Arriving late that night Hana was a mess, his thoughts were scatter shot and he had no idea what he was going to do. However as the night passed by nobody came and Hana grew bored, sitting back and waiting for what seemed like forever. Near midnight he finally decided he needed to figure out what was taking so long and knocked politely on the masters door before opening it.
It was that night Hana learned why the shogun had never come for him.
It appeared the shogun quite enjoyed the company of young men.
Hana now had an entirely new reason to hide his true identity.
For the rest of his life the Shogun treated he and his family like princesses, showering them with gifts, bestowing several handmaidens upon them and seeing that they received whatever they wanted. At the same time he almost never met Hanas eyes if they happened to be in the same place. Coming upon his masters little secret was perhaps the best thing that had ever happened to Hana and instantly almost any worries he had, had about the situation evaporated. Unfortunately these easy times were short lived, on his 16th birthday the unexpected happened once more and he has a resurgence of the disease that had ripped his childhood away. This time he had the best medicines money could by and since his mother was there she was able to help with more private matters ensuring his secret was safe. Still this time Hanas condition steadily declined and two months after first coming down with the illness he died in his sleep. With the help of his family Hana was safely interred without any word being leaked and was passed on without any loss of honor, to this day his name appears on the Kagamare family tree.
Hanas soul on the other hand moved on and being so kind and with no regrets he easily found his way to Soul Society. He got lucky and found himself in a district you never hear of people being in, One. District One of Rukongai is almost the exact opposite of what you see everywhere else in Soul Society, luxury everywhere and money is abundant, job are equally easy to find and cover a much wider range of professions since unlike other Districts those in One have time to waste on indulgences like the fine arts. Hana found a job at a local theater after becoming well known for his (or rather her, as after a life as a girl he had no intentions of swapping yet again) Koto playing in a local bar. He played there for two years and was amongst their star attractions, even now as a shinigami he is still popular. Then one day fate changed everything, he of course knew of the shinigami but had no intentions of ever joining them, he doubted he even had that thing they called spirit power. That was until a group of shinigami from the 9th division in pursuit of a criminal came crashing through the theater, the sudden exposure to reiatsu their appearance caused made Hana collapse on stage. When he awoke one of the the shinigami had bothered to stop and help him, explaining why he had collapsed before giving him some food and leaving.
Seeing no real option other than to see where this new found fate might lead he applied for the shinigami academy and was accepted shortly there after. He was widely popular among just about everyone there, most guys finding him cute and most girls liking his personality for a reason they couldn't explain. In the actual academy he was certainly capable of completing most assignments and was one of the higher ranked individuals but he was by no means a prodigy, simply a good learner. Had it not been for a chance encounter he might have wound up in just any old division and never worked his way up in the world.
He had been walking along the river bank with his friends that flowed through the nearby forest of the academy. Shortly after they split up to go to their different classes Hana spotted three people standing along the riverside, from their clothes they appeared to be shinigami buy Hana had lived a life of constant worry, no idea scared him anymore and he walked right up to them. Two of them were in black and one of them in white, Hana didn't know who they were but assumed they were high ranking. He simply asked what they were doing, the two in black looked at him like he was crazy but the one in white seemed to be in his own little world and didn't even look to see who had asked, he just responded they were trying to figure out how to make a static sound disappear on a spirit phone they were creating. Hana had absolutely no idea what he was talking about but without asking turned to the nearest shinigami in black and with surprising reflexes for a student took the object from his hands and before the shinigami could protest he pulled it apart. He kneeled next to the man in white and asked what each of the interior pieces did, the man again responded more as if it was all so encoded in his brain that he was simply speaking than as if he were actually paying attention. Thirty seconds later Hana put the phone back together, handed it back to the shinigami and walked off. To this day he doesn't know how he fixed the problem or how he fixes many technological mysteries, he simply follows what seems like common sense at the time.
Hana would go on to graduate and quite to his surprise he was expressly requested by the 12th divisions captain. It wasn't until he gathered with the others selected that he discovered the man in white had himself been Daichi Minoru, captain of 12th division, though the man had hardly seemed present during their short meeting he had clearly paid more attention than it seemed. In 12th Hana began to excel using his odd brand of intelligence to figure out all sorts of problems.
Roughly three hundred years ago or at around the time he was five-hundred years old Hana uncovered his bankai. At the time he had been a shoe-in for vice captain but was made even more predominant after this discovery which at the time he only disclosed to Minoru unsure of what steps he should take exactly. Hana never was nor has been in a hurry to become a captain and is perhaps most comfortable exactly where he is now, in a position of relative freedom without the complete control requirements a captain has. As such it was soon decided between Hana and Minoru that for political purposes they would keep Hana's bankai a secret, this way in the event someone they disagreed with ever began making grabs for power Hana could unveil his bankai and rightfully challenge them to whatever ends they were aiming for. Regardless Hana has activated his bankai several times outside of private training to aid Minoru or defeat a powerful opponent solo but has always done so when certain nobody else was looking, regardless his emotional personality has made keeping it a secret harder than it should be since he can at times be impulsive when others are in danger. Regardless for the time being he remains the vice-captain of 12th Division.
Additional Info: Due to the fact that Hana's shikai is all but useless in a direct fight and his kido is mid-level at best he has been forced to become a master of sword fighting. One of the most skilled fighters with a blade outside of his ranked betters he is not physically dominating but is quick, graceful and acrobatic. His traditional kenjutsu is excellent and his iaijutsu, that is to say drawing ones sword quickly, is unparalleled. However it is his untraditional fighting styles including Hakuchou Gachirin and Hangetsugata Hiraori that make him exceedingly deadly, these styles highlight his strength in speed and acrobatics incorporating a number of twist and flips to downplay his weakness in strength. However this should not be considered the same as saying he is a defensive fighter. Quite the contrary as unless the enemy is far superior, which is a rarity, one can expect Hana to aim for as quick a fight as possible, full of brutal flurry's that will take any fighter not highly competent down in moments.
General
Name: Terminus Telum (Final Spear) – [More accurately Terminus means “Ending” with final being a meaning attributed to it long after the death of the Latin language. Still since “Ending Spear” doesn't make as much sense in English we will go for the latter meaning and just say Final.]
Spirit Description
Terminus takes on the appearance of a giant twenty story metal warrior (roughly 200 feet tall). In this case the closest comparison for you is a Zaku from the Gundam series as seen above. However unlike the Zaku he is not olive green but instead a high sheen white all over his body. His shoulder pauldrons, knee armor and feet are all perfectly golden and have running blue lights along there edge, the same can be said for the all edges on his body which have blue lights. His visor glows a navy blue and has a lighter blue dot that moves around as his one cyclopean “eye” and he has a golden “tiara” band over his visor. He has a large cleaver on his back that sports a gold hilt with the blade that extends from it being made of pure blue energy, he also has a massive cannon attached to his right shoulder which he can hold up straight with his arm or falls to point at the ground if he does not support it.
Extremely wise, old, brilliant and completely annoying, all these things sum up Terminus. He is essentially the old sage on the mountain who after hundreds of years decided being serious all the time just wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Theres allot one can learn from Terminus but it is well and truly impossible to get the information out of him if he doesn't want to tell you, only sharing when and if he feels it is time and the other is worthy. Most of the time he is vague or outright lies, luckily most of his lies are obvious as they are completely impossible. For example upon first meeting Terminus informed Hana that to learn his name he needed to retrieve the “Marmalade of Ages”, after two weeks of saying this with utmost seriousness Hana accepted that Terminus was being serious. Only after a year and a half had passed did he finally find out that Terminus had just been bored, was screwing with him and was just going to tell him when he was damn well ready. Regardless Terminus is reliable when it comes to something important and if the information is immediately vital is more than willing to share, showing off his often invisible genius side in the process. Still these stints are brief and far between, usually dropping right back to his facade of silliness as soon as the threat is over.
The inner world in which Terminus resides is one massive (though empty) city but has four distinct zones. It is comprised of four octagonal islands floating in an endless blue void attached to each other in a triangular formation (as seen HERE). While seeming restricted at first glance one must realize each of these islands is massive, so much so that even the gigantic Terminus at full stride would take hours to cross an island. Where these islands meet the change in style is immediate and dramatic with a clear-cut line where one style stops and the next begins. The central city island is much like Terminus, metallic, blue lights everywhere and has sterile and uninhabited feel to it filled with towering skyscrapers, some which reach thousands of meters into the air. The northern island can be seen from far away even when you cannot see it directly for it cast an orange glow on the endless blue sky above it, an unnatural sight to be sure. The reason for this is, is that the northern city is constantly burning, the buildings appear similar to those in the central area but it is hard to tell for all of them are burning husks. The south-eastern city is called the clockwork city and for good reason, the entire thing has a steam-punk look to it with countless spinning gears attaching all the different buildings. Imagine multiple skyscraper height big bens attached to one another to get a visual style, there are also multiple cathedral like buildings in this zone which is always alive with the sounds of ticking and electrical buzzing. The final souther-western city is hovered by a dark shroud which removes all outside light from penetrating within, the city inside is filled with massive black monolithic structures. These structures have no windows or doorways and instead almost seem to be gigantic black slate pillars instead of buildings. The city is ribbed with stone walkways that are lined with dim glowing yellow street lamps. A complex waterway runs under the cities streets and several major channels break the darkness city into 10 equal slices, these waterways end in waterfalls that fall into the blue abyss at the edge of each island.
Sealed: In its most basic form Terminus takes on the appearance of a robins egg blue 3-D katana. That is to say that it is of the regular proportions of a katana but almost as if made of see through glass there appears to be no blade and instead there is nothing but the outlined edge of a blade made of faint blue light that borders on white. Despite this the blade can do damage and cut like a regular sword but on the flip side it is not special in anyway beyond its appearance, in all respects it is an average sword. One possible exception being that due to the “clear” structure of the blade a normal humans eyes would have a hard time spotting it but for your average shinigami or spirit enhanced human whose reactions are enhanced such a minor plus side wouldn't really sway a battles outcome. One other odd aspect is that if someone tries to touch the blade when Hana is not in battle it is as if the blade is nothing but light, their hand passing right through (Note: In battle the blade can be grasped, it cannot switch back and forth quickly and so becomes solid to fight during battle.)
The blade rest in a sheath at his side which is made of the same light and is completely see through. However it possesses a shiny paque white ring around its “mouth” where the blade is inserted and another one where the tip of the sword would rest. Set in both these are blue glowing lights as if from electricity on each of the four sides, each light is rimmed with gold, the two on the blade edges are ovular and long and those on the width are circular and even. These lights are extinguished when the blade is drawn.
Shikai
Activation Phrase: Scindo un Mundus, Terminus Telum! (Split the World, Final Spear!)
Appearance: Terminus takes the form of what can only be explained as a laser artillery cannon of doom. It is not the most powerful (in comparison to a captains) zanpaktou nor is it necessarily the easiest to wield but there are few zanpaktou that do as good a job at inciting panic, particularly in large groups of weaker individuals. When the activation is uttered Hana holds the blade out directly before himself and while glowing with an inner white light the blades structure extends forward and backward over his right shoulder, growing in shape in all other directions as well.
To call Hanas shikai large would be an understatement of unending proportions. Hanas shikai is larger than almost any other you will find, even larger than some individuals bankais. Twentyfive feet extends behind serving as a weight to touch the ground and absorb the blast from firing, five feet in which Hana kneels down and places the firing mechanism over his shoulder, forty feet in front of him of thick casing and beyond that a 20 foot barrel extending from the top which is supported half-way down by a stand. The entire gun is white and large looking similar to real-life “phasor” cannons but on a larger scale, it has numerous blue lights and tubes hooked into it that glow with an otherworldly energy and sports golden ornamentation all along its length. The “barrel” in fact has no opening but does have a seam along its center than goes all the way around, when fired this seam separates and a five foot glowing blue rod shoots from the end expelling the energy. The top opens exposing the continuation of that rod for at least thirty feet back down the weapon as it quickly releases heat before closing and preparing for the next shot.
Abilities
Terminus Telus is an incredibly powerful zanpaktou for a third seat but to make up for it the weapon is extremely limited in both time and location in which it can be used. Before I begin the actual explanation let me compare it to a canon ability for ease of understanding, Terminus is much like Chad's ability. I say this meaning that the weapon is deadly to levels far higher than Hana himself is but that doesn't necessarily mean its of use, in the same way Chad could have injured Kyouraku Shunsui but was far to slow to do so Hanas blast would be capable of injuring a captain but actually hitting one would be an all together different story. Even for those at his own level to whom the attacks would be exceedingly deadly a plethora of weaknesses even out the ability and severely limit its deployability.
When activated Terminus has 20 shells that just like a gun are used for ammunition. Unlike a gun these shells can be combined to perform greater abilities with a single shot such as stacking them for sheer power or creating limited tracking effects (the latter is not unlocked). Upon using all 20 shells Terminus reverts back to its sealed form and remains in that form, incapable of being brought back to shikai for 5 posts. Other large weaknesses Terminus has include its massive bulk which means that once called down Terminus cannot be moved at all making Hana a stationary target. As well the weapon can only be rotated on a 60 degree “circle” from side to side and up and down, so it cannot be turned around once called down and cannot be aimed completely up or down (unless on a vertical surface obviously). This does not mean the weapon cannot be recalled in the event Hana needs to move quickly but he will sacrifice all current shells to do so, this is explained in depth below. Other weaknesses are independent of each individual ability and will be explained below.
As an interesting note while note part of the actual powers every shot Terminus Telum makes is extremely loud. Due to being synced with the zanpaktou Hana does not suffer ill effects from being next to it but anyone within 40 meters of the cannon as it fires will be damn near deafened. This deafness will not last for a long time but it makes hearing while the cannon fires near impossible. The sound from the firing process can easily be heard over thirty miles away such is the force behind each shot. There is a period in between each shot in which there actually seems to be “suction” and everything goes silent, however this is a trick of the mind as the sudden silence overwhelms the senses after the intense sound before the next shot fires. It is also important to note that no matter which shot is fired all of them are dangerous to be around, direct contact does not need to be made and anyone within 10 meters of the passing shot will be pushed off their feet. However due to the concentrated energy of the shots they will not receive damage from this event, it can however take a person off guard.
Directus Offo (Direct Shot)
Terminus most basic ability, a single shot from the cannon that is not enhanced in any way. That aside one should not doubt this initial blast potency, a direct hit could easily cause extreme damage to a vice captain or similar level (Class 5, keep in mind all weaknesses outlined above apply). The beam takes the form of an elongated blue bolt of energy very similar to blue fire crash down, however despite its length most of the energy can be found in the forward portion of the shot. Directus Offo cost one shell per shot. It is important to note Directus Offo can be fired up to twenty times in rapid succession which is known as Erasum Offo (Erase Shot).
Letum Telum (Annihilation Spear)
Directus Offo but at a far higher level. Loads multiple shells energy into a single blast to make one insanely powerful shot that can penetrate just about any armor. As expected it sacrafices speed to do this but gains a much more powerful “blast wave” that is to say the area around the laser as it travels becomes much more dangerous than simply knocking surrounding opponents down. Roughly ten meters around the laser super heats as the shot travels and while not deadly this can easily injure those caught within, within ten meters opponents will also be thrown clear away and not just picked off their feet. Effects for about another 10 meters outside of that superheated 10 meters are more reminicent of typical shots, making it hard to stand and throwing weaker members off their feet. Currently Hana can only load 5 shells at one time but with practice it should be possible to unleash all twenty shells at once.
Defensabiliter Contricio Vesica (Defensive Crushing Blade)
Terminus main weakness is obvious, its inability to move and strictly long range capabilities mean that it is vulnerable to many types of counter attack. Luckily its bulk is more often than not enough to shield Hana from a return long range attack but he is still quite vulnerable to precise attacks, flanking maneuvers and of course worst of all melee attacks that manage to reach him. To combat this Terminus has one final ability, however in doing so it consumes all remaining shells and the number of shells left decides the length it stays out and strength with which it repels attacks. As the name suggest it is a blade, the entire Terminus cannon “explodes”, ejecting its outer cover and exposing the core unit beneath. The handle which is used to fire is removed and with it a significant portion of the back core, a large blue glowing object draped with a lattice work of gold. This core projects a laser blade that as listed below has different capabilities ranging from offensive attack to mere defense depending on shell level.
Bankai
Activation Phrase: Bankai, Effrego Orbis Terrarum, Terminus Telum! (Break the World, Final Spear!)
Appearance: As mentioned far above Hana's physical outfit transforms to a carbon copy of this: Bankai
Unlike his shikai Hana goes through extreme changes in bankai that have little to do with its activation outside of the aesthetic, there is one exception to this mentioned shortly. Without explaining using the ridiculously overwrought scientific explanations Terminus has told Hana it can be said that Hana wears a high tech white leotard with hand covering long sleeves and a mildly armored shoulder extension. The outfit at its most basic is simply that a white leotard but several golden spokes and black leather straps attach extra components that make it look far more complex. The golden spokes which are locked in around the belly area connect to a hardened ceramic piece that pulls down over his shoulders, this is less about armoring from outside attacks and more about providing cushioning when shouldering a powerful shot from his own weapon. He also sports two thigh-high white boots that including holographic projections from the upper portion appear to have glass wings but in fact like his sealed blade they are non-material though these are so at all times. The only other thing about them that draws attention are two long golden pistons, these are not in fact simply decorations but instead much like the shoulder ceramic if a particularly powerful shot is fired he can quickly hook the weapon up to this piston which moves up and down to transfer some of the force off of him directly. Lastly the golden bobbles in his hair are not in fact simple ornamentation but instead are the catalyst for an ability explained below.
The weapon or weapons in this case are predictable enough, if you shrank the weapon in shikai and separated it into two clones each roughly seven feet long (10 feet when fired) you would have Hana's bankai. There is nothing particularly special of note about them as they are visually identical to the above simply much smaller, which should be noted does cause a decrease in power per shot though the boost in bankai power equalizes this out to about 75% instead of a vast drop. It should be noted that Hana can utilize both cannons when flying (explained below) but is limited to one when on foot unless braced in a firing position which makes him vulnerable to attack in most regards unless he gets the jump on an opponent. When only one is being carried the other is connected to the lower back on and below the butt by a series of connectors on the back of the outfit. This style of weight distribution might be to much for a normal individual and see them toppling over but of course Hana is a shinigami and stronger than he looks so this is of no particular trouble to him.
Abilities: Like any self respecting bankai Hana's is not a wild and obtuse variation of its initial form. Instead it is refinement pure and simple, a smaller size as shown above with greater maneuverability while still packing a great level of strength behind each shot (though each is not as powerful as in shikai form) while increasing the number of times the weapon may be fired. Terminus, the spirit itself is extremely proud of its creation and is saddened by the fact that Hana does not see fit to utilize it more often. Like its predecessor there are still some issues with aiming radius but they are not nearly as dire as before and as shown below Hana has a greater ability to wage battle from close range eliminating one of his shikais primary weaknesses. Like its prior form Hana's bankai works on the principle of shells translating to how many times the weapon can be fired with up to five shells being stackable, this time however there are 40 shells. Single shots still utilize a single shell but as the bankai naturally increases strength and control over that of the shikai level he is capable of things that consume a greater number of shells but also allows for more complex tactics for a direct fight.
Lentis Os (Seeing Lens)
As mentioned above the golden ornaments in his hair are not simple decoration, one disk can lower over the other and produce a holographic blue visor over his eyes which allows for easier tracking. Testing has shown this is useful for opponents who use speed in a predictable manner but those who jump around erratically are better fired upon by real eye contact. This is a minor ability and does not use much reiatsu nor does it use shells, however since it is relatively useless against anyone of or higher than his skill level due to their fast speeds this is a non-issue since he would never activate his bankai against anyone weaker.
Fugam (Flight)
Quite simply its exactly what it sounds like, the shoulder unit includes several “vents” in the back. When reiatsu is injected through the vents “wings” of fire are created and temporary flight is allowed. Though all spiritual beings of this level are typically capable of fighting in the air these jets allow immediate changes in direction typically restricted to the leaders with high skill in shunpo or its equivalent. Requires five shells to activate, requires moderate to high reiatsu depending on the complexity of maneuvers performed and deactivates after three posts.
Directus Offo (Direct Shot) and Letum Telum (Annihilation Spear)
Terminus two most basic abilities translated directly from shikai with all the requirements those abilities had then. The one difference is due to the reduction in size of the cannons each shot is roughly 75% that of the larger single shikai cannon but shot reload speed is up and of course maneuverability is exceptionally high in comparison. For Letum Telum, especially when stacked to a full five shells Hana must connect the cannon being used to his leg piston and brace it against his shoulder lest the power behind the shot send him flying due to the less grounded form his shikai takes. This time an extra five shells can be added but these are not stacked for strength, instead the extra shells give the shot an extreme level of tracking up to 360 degrees and capable of multiple turns for up to thirty seconds, for this he must activate Lentis Os and mark the target for five seconds prior.
Apparatus Vesica otis Ruina (Gear Blade of Destruction)
The progression and highly improved decedent of the Defensabiliter Contricio Vesica. At any point during the release of bankai this ability can be utilized for five shells per cannon, which means ten shells in total if both are being used. Unlike in shikai the cannon is not shed for use but instead separates and is pulled back by a gear to expose the core blade. At any time for another 5-10 shells the weapon can be reverted, HOWEVER once back in cannon mode this cannot be utilized again even if there are still shells to be used. In this form at any time an energy blast roughly comparable to shikai level Directus Offo can be released for two shells, however due to the core being exposed and there being no channel down which it fires the range is limited to thirty meters. Unlike the previous blade these do not weaken as the shells decrease and can be used to parry bankai level blades of Hana's own strength rank (high-VC, low-captain). Beside not being able to fight higher level opponents the other major weakness is the bulky heft of the two cannons, since they are still whole even with the barrel pulled back they are still very heavy and more over far to large to perform any complex swordsmanship with other than wide swings and jabs, they are perhaps more comparable to large halberds.
Shunpo - a movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the bases of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from point A to point B in the least amount of steps. (From: Bleach Wiki)

General Info
Zanpakuto
- 20 Shells – Last 5 posts, can be used offensively and can block a shikai blade (or equivalent weapon/abilities).
- 15 Shells – Last 4 posts, looses offensive capability but can still cut and fight a shikai blade defensively.
- 10 Shells – Last 3 posts, purely defensive, can still block a shikai but dangerous to use for attack.
- 5 Shells – Last 2 posts, can block a shikai up to 5 times before shattering, useful for retreating.
- 1 to 4 Shells – Last 1 post, cannot block shikai, capable of blocking sealed blades/abilities and absorbing a percentage of minor to mid level kido/ability spells.
Shinigami Techniques
Shunpo - a movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the bases of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from point A to point B in the least amount of steps. (From: Bleach Wiki)
